Siska shook his mane as he paused, letting the silky white strands settle into place on one side of his eye. It had been a while since he had traveled this far out of his usual range--as wide as it was, considering he was not one to settle down in one spot. The scenery had changed only a bit, but he did notice that the mountains in front of him had grown considerably. The large, ragged peaks rose far above him, foreboding in their presence. In fact, something had seemed rather off near the mountains recently, after the day that many called "Hallows Eve". But Siska hadn't really noticed, not until now.
He brushed the unsettling feeling from his mind and continued onwards, staying near to the wooded edge of the forest. He never did feel qute comfortable in open spaces...
And yet, despite the extra cover, he could not shake from him the feeling that something, somewhere, was watching.

Thanos had traveled quite some distance away from his herd in search of solitude, quiet and...well some other reason he hoped he would remember. The landscape here was much different from that closer to the mountain where the herd currently made its home. Everything was different here, so much more vibrant and...disgusting. The area seemed to assault all of Thanos' senses at once. It would be nearly impossible to think out here, but it was nice to get away from the herd for a while. Wasn't it? He shook his head, not really sure. "Why are we so far from the others?" Peace asked."The others are worthless, clearly he is looking for horses better suited for his needs." War replied. Thanos shook his head again. What was quiet truly like anyways? He never could understand what having peace and quiet would entail. "I came here to think...in the quiet." He told his rats. And as far as he could remember that was the truth. "To think about what?"Well be damned if Thanos knew what he was thinking about. He didn't know whether he was coming or going half the time. And with the others in his herd either giving him flak for this and that or just being complete wastes of space his brain was more frazzled than normal. "To think about....""Great he doesn't even know what he is going to think about. Must we do everything for you?" War griped after Thanos trailed off. "Give him time, he will remember what it was." Peace could only hope that were true. The poor stallion seemed to rely on them quite heavily some days. "Hush you two." Thanos said before they could continue on with their latest rant. No he hadn't forgotten what he came to think about...well now he had, damn rats interrupting his thoughts. Well no it hadn't been the rats, it was something he saw up ahead. Something was moving within the trees up ahead. It couldn't be one of his herd members could it? Had they followed him way out here? He hoped they hadn't. "What's that?" He asked the rats as he began to move forward towards the...thing up ahead.

Siska's head jerked up as a faint noise was heard ahead of him. He searched the edge of the treeline, and sure enough, saw a dark shape heading towards him. At first glance, the shape seemed to be a horse, pure black and heavily muscled. But as he drew nearer, he noticed that something white gleamed at odd intervals of the other horse's body. In fact, at certain points like the legs and head, it looked oddly like... NO. No, it couldn't be. And what the Hell was that crap hanging out of the horse's side? And why did it look so...
Siska froze in his steps, his mind truly baffled. Was he dreaming, or was that really what he thought it was? Because it REALLY didn't look like a normal horse... but what else is there in reality but normality?
He wasn't sure whether he should investigate or not, for the other horse indeed looked powerful and foreboding... but, as his mother always said, curiosity killed the colt. So he inched forward, slowly and on guard.

"It looks like another horse." Peace replied to his question. "Of course its a horse, what else would it be?" War chirped back at her brother.
Thanos watched the other horse closely as it moved within the trees, somewhat hesitantly. Each time the other horse moved, so did Thanos. When it stopped, so did he. He wasn't sure if he was trying to make a game out of it or what but it was almost..almost amusing to him. It was as if they were each trying to measure the other up without being obvious about it.
After a few moments he decided it wasn't a member of his herd, since it appeared to be a normal, living horse. He shuddered at the thought, a normal horse was nothing but a bother to him. A small bump along the path that his herd would carve into this land...right? Yeah that sounded right. Well at least the other horse didn't appear to be aggressive, Thanos wasn't exactly a fighter. He wasn't much of anything some days.
He stopped a few feet from the trees that hide this other horse and snorted slightly. Would the other continue to hide from him even though it knew Thanos had seen it? Did he care if it did? Not really...he would deal with it eventually. That was if he could ever get the sorry excuse for a herd to do his bidding. They were more annoying that the rats some days.

It was't long beforeSiska realized that the other horse could see him--in fact, those red, glowing THINGS that must have served for eyes studied him like a cloud-laden sky. His mind was still reeling, for Siska was not an easy-going horse, and stuck to sensibility most of the time. To see something like this... thing... was unexplainable to himself. Perhaps, even though he could feel the warmth of the sun on his fur, he was really walking in a dream...
He summed his courage, for he did have much of it, and moved forward, determined to find the meaning of such a creature. When he was only feet from the other stallion, he paused, squinting his eyes to take in a most gruesome sight. Rotting flesh, torn skin, exposed bones, glowing eyes... and were those rats?! Damn, what was this thing?
"You... who are you?" he inquired, quite bluntly and rudely, yet with a slight curiousity. He kept his muscles tense, yet for some reason, felt that this stallion would not be as much of a threat as he had originally thought.

"Kill it!" War screamed at him as the other horse spoke. "Why must everything you say involve some sort of killing or maiming?" Peace asked. "It is the only thing that makes me happy."
Thanos watched the other closely as it approached. Oh look another normal horse, there were so many of those in this blasted land. It would take a long time for his herd to drive them all out. He shook his mane to try to break up the current fight the rats had found themselves in. "I am Thanos." He replied to the other stallion. He didn't bother to ask the others name, it wouldn't matter, he would forget it almost instantly. Or would he? Well his memories were getting a bit better but they were far from perfect.
His red eyes looked the stallion over more closely now. Now a blemish on it's body, how sad. He hated perfect things. Perfect blades of grass, perfect sunrises...but most of all perfect horses. Why exactly he hated them was a mystery. It could have to do with how decayed his own body was and the hatred was more jealousy based than anything. Maybe it was something from his past that made him hate it so much...or maybe it was...wait what was he thinking of again. Damn, he stomped him hoof in frustration. Why did this keep happening to him?

Siska raised a brow as the other stallion seemed to "wander off" in his head. What the heck was wrong with this thing? And, the most important issue right now.... was it even real?
"Thanos? Sounds a bit... evil... to me," Siska suspiciously replied, his nose crinkling at the sudden horrid smell that wafted from the other stallion. His eyes once again glanced downwards towards the gash in the horse's side. Were those... intestines?! Just hanging out, all loose and gross-like. Why was this horse still alive? In all reality, something like this should be dead.
Yes, in reality. So perhaps this really was a dream? Siska was not one to have nervous breakdowns, but at this moment, that was exactly where he was.
"Okay, Thanos. So you're here, in this dream I'm having... I must have fallen asleep. Why the Hell did I fall asleep walking? How do I wake up?" He spun around, his mind confused and reeling. He then stopped, once again facing Thanos.
"So... am I dreaming?" he asked, feeling somewhat foolish at his simple question.

Evil? What did that mean? That his name sounded evil. Although given the reason for his herd to be back here he supposed that was a good thing. Thanos the evil. Yes, he liked the sound of that. His head snapped up a bit as the other stallion continued to talk. Dream? "What's a dream?" He asked, not really sure what the stallion was going on about.
"He is evil you pathetic little horse!" War shouted from her spot. "How odd to think that Thanos sounds evil. It doesn't sound evil to me." "Of course you wouldn't think it was evil you moron."
"I don't think your dream. I am real." He told the other stallion as Siska continued to go on about something. Thanos hadn't really lost interest in the conversation, but it was more out of confusion that he kept his answer short. How could he answer the question when he wasn't sure what the question was about? Sure he could say something random but that would just lead to more confusion in the end. Thanos didn't like confusion even though it was a constant presence in his life. At least the rats helped out...sometimes. Snap out of it, he told himself. He was doing it again. Thinking about something that had nothing to do with what he had been talking about. Why couldn't his memories flow to him as randomly as they thoughts did.

"A dream?" Siska asked, bewildered. This thing didn't know what a dream was? How strange... "Well, a dream... it's like being awake, only when you're sleeping. And the world while dreaming is very different from the real world. You tend to dream of things that don't really exist... well, like you, for instance."
Then the stallion justified his presence, and Siska shook his head slightly, still not believing wholly, but giving in. "So if you are real..." His eyes drifted to the gaping wound in the stallion's side, the pointy bone of the tip of his skull snout, "then how can you sustain such injuries? Any other horse would have passed in your condition." The curiosity was evident in his voice, and now that they had gotten past the awkward beginning, he was not afraid to voice his questions.

Thanos thought the other stallion explanation of what a dream was seemed a little weird. I mean what all that really possible? To be awake and asleep at the same time. To have things the same and yet different. He shook his head, these were very confusing thoughts. Best to just forget all about it, at least that would be easy to do. His ears flickered a bit at a sound that was both familiar and foreign to him. Was the other stallion still talking? He must really like the sound of his voice.
"You talk to much." Thanos mumbled idly. Then something Siska said caught his attention. Injuries, ah so that's what they were called Thanos though as he looked back at the gaping hole in his side where his...dangly bits hung out. His eyes slowly moved back to Siska. "These...these are not injuries. I don't know what you mean by passing, but if you mean that one cannot live with these..." He trailed off losing his train of thought. "Life and death are intertwined within me. I am both and I am neither."
"What...what the hell was that? Stop speaking in stupid code!" War chirped angrily at Thanos. "Ignore her. That was very poetic."

Siska's ears flattened at the stallion's insult (or at least he thought that was what is was, though the stallion himself did not seem to mean it in a violent manner), and his sides puffed out with anger. "Talk too much? I think not. Perhaps it is you that talks too little." But he continued to listen to the stallion, and his face turned back into a surprised, wide-eyes expression.
"You are alive? But also dead? This is strange... very strange. Are you from this land, or another place? As far as I know, one like you does not originate from nature." Now he was curious as to how the stallion got here. He no longer tried to deny the fact that he was actually THERE. His appearance, those gruesome organs and grotesque wounds, were too real to be anything but reality. But where did he come from? Such a creature did not just randomly appear.

"I only talk when I have something worth saying." He retorted back at the other stallion. Other horses were so irritating. They talked too much, always pointed out the gaping hole in his side as if he hadn't noticed it was there. And worse off they were annoyances that his herd would need to deal with. Not that he didn't look forward to crushing other horses under his hooves but god it was gonna take a miracle to remember how many of them there were out here. His head tipped to the side as the other stallion spoke...again. "Strange how?"
"You're the strange one. Just look at you." War chirped at the other stallion. "Strange because its not something one would normally come across out here Thanos." Peace pointed out.
With a shake of his head Thanos spoke again. "I am not from this land." Well at least not that he could remember. Perhaps in his past life he had lived here, or someplace else that was similar. All forests and meadows looked the same after all. Standing up tall and proud he looked at the other stallion square in the eyes. "I am from Hell."

Siska's ears perked, hearing a strange noise come from the other stallion's mane. What was that? Some kind of animal? He squinted his eyes, trying to discern something unusual in the haggard black mane, but dismissed it as "hearing things". He couldn't see anything... but why did it sound like... squeaking?
He returned his attention to the black stallion's face, his eyes connecting with the empty sockets, the glowing red pits, of the other. He found it hard to keep that gaze, so he eventually looked away, past the stallion and to the mountains in the distance.
"It is strange... well, because I am alive. Not dead. One is only supposed to be in one condition, not both. Being alive and dead at the same time--well, it's contradictory." He shrugged his shoulders, feeling awfully foolish. Here he was, a proud, lone stallion who rarely talked at all, stammering like a child. His own words, though making perfect sense, sounded foolish in his own ears. But what else could he say? That was what he knew... and he did not know this stallion.
He was taken aback by the stallion's last statement. Perhaps, if it had only been spoken by someone else, he would have broke out in laughter, or considered the individual insane. But this stallion said it with such confidence, such pride and dignity, that he found himself unable to disbelieve. A cold feeling settled in the pit of his stomach at the unthinkable meaning of the words.
"From Hell?" he repeated, his voice losing its usual vigor. He fumbled for something to say, something to reply with, but after a few moments, could only say, "You have come a long way. Why... why have you been in Hell? Why come back to this place? What... what do you intend to do?"

His eyes turned a dull red as the other stallion went on about something. Blah blah blah, Thanos thought. So much talking and nothing of interest being said. This was why he hated other horses. They never had anything of value to say. Hell even half the horses in his own herd were this way. Always yammering on about nothing of value. Maybe he could put this stallion out of his misery and just kill him now. That way he wouldn't have to spend the remainder of his life talking about nothing. Not like he planned to let this stallion live long, he would get his herd to move soon enough...and then every horse, including this stallion would fall under their hooves. That thought made him smile...well in a sense. He would have smiled if he wasn't missing half of his face. Instead his eyes turned to a brighter shade of red.
"Can we kill him already? His talking is irritating me!" War said as she scurried up Thanos mane to sit perched between the stallions ears. "You should answer his questions if anything."
Thanos gave his head a shake and re-focused on the other stallion. What had he asked again? Something about why he had been in Hell...and his plans? Was that it. "Yes from Hell." He restated to Siska. Geez, was the other stallion deaf? "I don't know why I was there!" Thanos snapped. Nothing irritated him more than when others asked him questions that he didn't know the answer to. Like did they honestly expect him to know everything? Did he look like the all knowing beast? Eyes dulled once again as he stared at the other stallion. "I came back to crush this world and everything in it. I will shape it into my vision."

Once again, Siska felt like laughing at the sheer insanity of the stallion's statements. But his eyes could not tear themselves away from the glistening entrails bursting from the dusty coat, nor the ethereal light that glowed within the rotting body. His mouth lost its moisture, and he suddenly longed for a drink of water. Was this how it was in Hell? No water, unquenchable thirst, wild fear? He couldn't bear to think of it.
He flinched when the other stallion stated his forgetfulness, and made a mental note not to upset him again. However, his next statement threw Siska in a loop, and his mouth drooped in astonishment.
"You're going to crush this world? Like... conquer it? That's... that's the craziest thing I've ever heard. You can't do that. Things like that don't happen here." Yet, his voice held none of the certainty of his words. He felt cold, his blood frozen in his veins. He took a step back.
"You're crazy. And... weird. This can't be happening."
