This is what a predator had become. No confidence nor will to truelly understand what had become of him or why he existed, he had become little more then a scavenger in these lands.

His golden pelt had been worn ragged from neglect, his mane in tats and filled with burrs while he half heartedly gnawed at an aged wildebeast carcass.
Feebly trying to gnaw at the flesh with whatever strength he had left in his jaws.
Yet, despite such a pitiful sight, he was surrounded by such beauty that the rogue lands just beyond the Pridelander's home provided. The sun kissed grass shaded by a nearby acacia tree made the evening almost perfect were it not for the feeder's mindset.

Today would be as it always was for him, despite being a moderately attractive male, he would and would always percieve himself as one thing.

A monster.

Ili'ella's eyes sparkled as she walked in the direct sun line, her coat lighting up as the sun hit it just right. Her coat was preened to perfection as it always was. Her colours were her pride and joy, they were the only thing she ever kept with her no matter how far she walked, or where she went.

Breaking into a slow jog, she moved with an easy grace that looked similar to dance. A large bird, most likely a vulture but she didn't stop to examine it, was sitting not far away and a devilish look lit up her eyes. Changing her course, she broke into a run, narrowly missing the bird as she pounced on it. Giving a shriek, the bird took to the sky. Tumbling to the ground thanks to the speed she had built up, she flopped onto the dirt and watched the bird disappear into the sky.

“Bye, bye birdie,” she sung softly, before scrambling back to her feet. Sitting back on her haunches, she began to clean off her fur from the dust that had built up.

He hadn't seen her yet, but he'd seen her handy work.
The fluttering feathers of the bird gave him a jump and caused him to leap to his feet, which subsequently made him fall back to his stomache with the speed the blood rushed to his head. He felt like such a cub.
Letting a gruff, confused yowl at the creature's fright his eyes soon turned to the lioness that bowled into view.

For a moment all he could do was stare from where he lay, ears flattened back against his mane as he watched her.
Oh no.
No, no, she'd get in trouble.
She'd see him, the Gods would punish him by punishing her.
They always punished the lovely ones.

After his moment of staring he tried to push his large his into the grass to try and hide himself, now, when you're a huge lion, despite being ever so slightly imaciated.
Hiding is hard.

Ili'ella was not an attentive lion, far too caught up in her own world to really care about what was going on around her, so it was unlikely she would have noticed him had he been hiding well. Unfortunately, due to his size, he didn't disappear very well. After she had finished cleaning her fur to an almost obsessive level, she got to her paws.

Glancing around, to find something else to entertain her most likely, she spotted the rugged lion. She perked up, recognizing the chance to gain the spirits favour by befriending another wanderer.

"Hello there, I have never see you around," she sung softly, padding towards him in a sway to her step. "Are you new or was I simply blind before?" Her eyes glittered at her song, as poor as it was.

Cursing himself silently he froze up as he was adressed in that sing songy voice, hoping that somehow, if he stayed completely and utterly still, she wouldn't see him...Gods he must've been stupid. Clearing his throat he rose up slightly from where he had tried to flatten himself against the ground in a pathetic attempt to hide and stared at her for a moment, ears still flat against that brown mane of his.
She'd get in trouble. It was all his fault.
But he may aswell have a conversation with her...and appologise above all else, clearing his throat gently he watched her for a moment or two. Looking over the golden pelt and tilting his head curiously. Was she cursed also?

"I..." He began intelligently. "I'm...sorry..."

Ili'ella had continued to smile at him until he spoke, and her smile drooped somewhat and a puzzle expression crossed her face. Why was he apologising? She glanced behind her, to see if he was addressing another but there was no one else around, except for them.

"What are you sorry for?" She asked, dropping her singing tone and sounding slightly baffled.

He hadn't offended her, nor had he harmed her. Perhaps he was apologising in advance for something? But that seemed silly. The spirits hadn't warned her that he was dangerous and surely they would not lead her to him only for her to be harmed? No, the spirits were not that cruel.

So then why did he apologise? She continued to peer at him, trying to work him out.

Still with his ears flattened against the mass expanse of chocolate mane he had, the lion gulped softly as hhe watched the other, much more cheerful female whilst treading his ground with careful pads of his giant paws. The bafflement in her voice was something he'd heard all too often, all of it before and he could help but wince at her question with a soft sigh.

"I..." He cleared his throat softly. How long had it been since he'd had a drink? Or something to eat for that matter? Oh well, another chance would come along, he was sure of it, he just needed to focus next time. All the while he stared at the female and continued to explain himself.
"I'm...I'm sorry for...for being here, I didn't mean too..."
He really didn't. There was always reason to be aware of where you were going and there was always someone around...someone to be cursed by his damn presence. It's no wonder he hated himself and he scraped a paw gently against the ground. Expecting a braining from the other.

Ili'ella's confusion only intensified at his explanation of his apology. It didn't help explain it at all, really! It only left her more baffled than before. Sorry that he had been there? Why should he be sorry? Brows furowed, Ili'ella couldn't think of a single reason.

She smoothed her face out carefully, and replaced her bright smile. "Don't apologise!" She told him, keeping her voice cheerful. He was being silly, she decided, apologising for such things. "It's not your fault. The fates have brought us together, and I am sure they have a perfectly good reason!" She continued to smile, and bowed her head to him. "I'm Ili'ella!"

Raising her head, she stared at him expectantly, awaiting his name in return, a happy smile still perched upon her face.

The large male currently trying to cow himself like a beaten cub just stared at the female infront of him for a few boggled moment, mostly because he hadn't just got himself smacked or thrashed because of his half-assed apology. That alone would've cost him enough back home. Still, he didn't dare move more than an inch as he watched the golden female apprehensively.
Every now and then peering around the surrounding area as if expecting the world to just crash or shatter around them like some fragile eggshell.

"Uhm.." He began intelligently as he kept his paws tentatively upon the ground, back legs feeling like tight springs should he need to flee in an instant. "I'm...Matemo."

His fear concerned her. Why was he afraid of her? It took her a moment to decide what to do next, and slowly she sat. Making her already small form smaller, and attempting to look less threatening. Though her smile remained just as bright, her movements slowed to a more manageable (and less bouncy) pace.

"Matemo? Lovely to meet you! The fates have shined upon us bringing us together today! I was hoping for someone to talk a while with, it can be terribly boring on ones own without a friendly soul to lend an ear." She beamed.
