Ehmagawd! Why would you want to switch?!

Okay, well really why do you want to switch?
I'm in 8th and we have marching band up at the high school so ask away.

Talk to your director and ask about what the band needs, but if you like clarinet, i say stay on it. It's a gorgeous instrument.

If you really want to learn a new instrument trumpet and clarient are in the same key so it'd be easy for you to read the music.

i was thinking about trumpet, but it seems everyone wants to play trumpet. and.... i suck at trying to blow into a mouthpiece for a brass instrument. i would need tons of help trying to adjust my sound and all of that.

i LOVE clarinet. but sometimes i wonder if i can play tha saxaphone. when i took a test to see what instrument would be good for meh, my director said clarinet or saxaphone would be good. of course, looking at case sizes, i chose clarinet. but i do enjoy it. i also love tha keyboard and there are adutions for that for tha jazz band, but idk if i will make it. there are others in my band that play tha keyboard and idk how good they are. im stumped : (

If you want to be jazz band, I say go ahead and play saxophone. I play clarinet, and I've fooled around with sax, and it's pretty easy to play, for the most part. For marching band, there are pros and cons for marching clarinet. Pros, you've been playing clarinet for a while, so you're used to it, and it's the easiest instrument to march. However, you can hear saxophones a lot more, so if you want to be louder, you should switch to sax.

errr, so hard to choose one! im still not sure if i wanna join marching band tho. is it as hard as some pl put it to be or not?

Marching band isn't hard as long as you're willing to put in the effort. I can be really fun; I say go for it.
I don't think you should switch instruments for marching band unless there's a problem with you playing clarinet... Maybe your band needs more of a different instrument, idk. But you'll have plenty of new stuff to learn with marching drill and memorizing music, so I don't think it's a good idea to learn a whole new instrument on top of that.

If you're thinking about jazz band... If you're pretty good at playing keyboard and reading the music, then go ahead and tryout... it can't hurt, right?
You could probably learn saxophone somewhat easily, since you're already a reed player. Tenor sax would be a good choice, since clarinet and tenor are in the same key... this DOESN'T make it easier to read either way, but the concert pitches are the same, so each note sounds the same pitch as it would on the clarinet.
I'm a flute player, but I'm learning sax, and the hardest part is getting the sound out of it. xD But since you've had a reed instrument already, this shouldn't be so hard.
