Lone hunters like her? Well she'd take a baby if she could get it but an adult was out of the question.

He would have assumed a powerful lioness could catch something a bit bigger than a rabbit. Rabbits were helpless little creatures, and he only chased them for sport, he never killed them.

"What hardly seems fair?" maybe it wasn't her he was talking about, but she didn't' see what else he might be referring too.

"That. I mean, he's just a little thing. I'm sure you could have found something more your size and less easy."

What the hell was wrong with him? To hunt for sport was one thing. If he ever got hungry enough he'd take anything he could get, fair or not. But to ciritisize someone else?
It was unbelivable.

"I don't.." he paused for a second. "Its just.. it didn't stand a chance against you." He shifted his weight a bit, looking uneasy about critisizng her. "I'm not saying you should hunt a challenge.. Just that your prey should have a chance to get away, or otherwise its just not fair."

Did he really not understand this? Survival of the fittest. That was all this was.

"Most that can hunt something bigger than rabbits, go for the prey bigger than rabbits..." He backed away a bit. Its not like a rabbit would be a big meal. It wasn't enough for him, so he was sure it wouldn't be enough for her, or a litter of cubs.
Maybe he didn't really get it. He didn't really know how to act around others. He just had his own beliefs, and they were the only ones he'd ever heard.

Deror looked even more taken aback by that. Why would she ask him to do that? He could, yes, but... He just looked stunned. She'd caught him off guard, and off guard, he wasn't sure how well he'd do.
"I.. Why.. You really can't?" That didn't seem right to him. She was a lioness, a hunter, proud and strong.

"With a pride behind me I could take on an elephant," she growled. This was tireing. "Alone a small gazelle if I'm lucky. Dragging it back to the cubs would be a far greater challenge, one easily solved by catching smaller prey."
She widened her stance, and lowered her head. If all he was going to do was preach then she'd be just as well off without him.

He hadn't meant to offend her, but obviously he had. His eyes widened at her movement, and he ducked back further. "I'm sorry," he stuttered, ducking his head, avoiding looking at her. "I.. If I can help, I'll help.."

"Oh I think you could be of great help," she growled, claws extending to dig at the hot dirt beneath her. "I don't belive the cubs have tasted cheetah yet!"
Kaitaia says:
He looked up when she said he could be a great help, hoping that all was forgiven now. A smile started to ease across his face and he even ventured to take a step forward--that is, until she said her next sentence.
"Wait... What?!" His eyes widened and he scooted back again. "I just wanted to help!"

She didn't really intend to catch him. While she was sure she'd eat it if she had to, cat wasn't really something she fancied dining on.

It was good he was a sprinter, that was for sure. He let ut a yelp and turned around sharply, kicking off and breaking into a full out run. What in the world had he done to offend her so much? He really hadn't meant to! Really!
