OK so I'm totally new to Warcraft so please don't be mean to me, but we should have like a lingo translator or something on here. I have no idea what people say most of the time. They'll say something like, "wtb...(something or other) and I'm like wtf is that? I know there's more but I can't think of them right now. I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about. Sorry if this sounds nooby but I just installed the game last night, so I'm very,very new to Warcraft.

WTB = want to buy
WTS = want to sell
LFM = looking for more
LFG = looking for group

most dungeons also have a abbreviated form which is used. This is usually the first letters of the name, so for instance UK is Utgarde Keep, a level 68-72 instance in Northrend. HC means the heroic version of a dungeon, which is only available to characters of level 80 (unless it is a heroic dungeon in Outland, but no one really does those any more). There are some dungeons that are also known by different names, such as the Deadmines in Westfall (also known as VC or Van Cleef, for the last boss in it), Ahn'Khatet: the Old Kingdom is usually only referred to as Old Kingdom or OK, and the Caverns of Time dungeons are known by many names, usually as Old Hillsbrad, Dark Portal, and Old Stratholme.

Don't get too frightenend by WoW slang though, most words are quite logical or come from general game/video game language.

most of it is also just shorthand, text speech. the dungeons are the most confusing but you'll get used to them over time. the only ones you really need to learn are at 80 but you can just throw yourself in the LFG when confused, someone will find you for what you need there.

Don't believe anyone if they say that FAP means Find a Party. It does not mean that at all. Just a friendly warning.

Edit- Why do I see my post at the top of the topic? O.o

The original World of Warcraft (The one before Burning Crusade) had a book that came with the game.

There was a table that deciphered all the lingo the devs found commonly used in game.
