It was a mediocre day. The sky was murky, the sun long hidden behind a dense blanket of clouds that glittered and flashed with lightening. Rain threatened within them, pressing heavily on the Soquili lands and chasing anyone with any sense to find cover before it broke. As such few, if any, were out. Dreyden hadn't seen another soul. It was a mediocre day....Mediocre? Hell. It had been a bloody wretched week overall.

Dreyden tossed his head, lips forming a silent snarl of frustration. He felt useless and restless and bored. His uncle was missing and Zareen had disappeared with his crazy mother trying to find him. While Drey was worried sick, there was nothing he could do. Thorn would likely kill him on sight, or try to, there was so much animosity between her and Drey's father. He could easily avoid her, but in the off chance Drey had to defend himself, it would be Zareen who he would ultimately be having to face against. The black haired male would defend his mother without question, even if it meant hurting one who was like a brother to him. Dreyden didn't want to take the chance. It made him feel useless and the violet haired stallion hated the feeling.

The stallion shook his head again, bangs flying wildly around his face before he stared up at the sky, watching the flickering lightning. He shifted his wings, eyes narrowing. All he needed to do was blow off some steam before he did something stupid. Of course, his idea of blowing off steam would be someone else's idea of doing something stupid. But that had never stopped him before.

Muscles tensing, Dreyden threw himself forward, hooves pounding the ground beneath them as he got speed up. He stretched his wings wide, the wind catching beneath them and pulling him into the air. His feet continued to churn the air almost frantically before they slowed to a more leisurely pace. He let the wind pull him up further, heedless of the danger of low lying, lightning charged clouds above him. Dreyden did a couple of circles and loops in the air, rolling and leaping through the air as if on the ground. Aerial antics were as easy to him as ground bound ones were. But it just wasn't enough.

He drifted for a few long minutes before he flapped his wings once, twice then folded them and plunged towards the ground at what must have been a terrifying speed to witness. At a distance from the ground that didn't seem quite safe, one wing suddenly flicked out in a maneuver that could easily maim the delicate appendage if done wrong, especially at such a speed. Instead of ravaging the scarlet appendage, the wind caught it and threw him into a barrel roll, sending him spinning with a crazy whoop. Dreyden folded and tilted the wing slightly to skid sideways, stopping his spinning, but not his downward plunge. At the last possibly moment, both wings stretched out and the stallion gave a triumphant whoop as they caught an updraft that snapped him away from the ground and back into the sky, his hooves just barely grazing the high grasses of the field.

Adrenaline coursing through him, Dreyden once more let himself be pulled upwards by the building storm's winds, eyes narrowed against the wind tearing at his mane and tail, intent on trying his stunt again. In his eyes, he hadn't done it right. In anyone else's eyes, he was lucky to have not shredded his wings and then splatted himself into the ground for his insanity.

Gypsy Soul had never really been one to complain about what the outside weather was like. She enjoyed every day that was given to her and tried to live it to the fullest, even if some of those days her hair looked awful… At least on the wet rain-filled days she got a good amount of caked in dust out. Yes, that was exactly the way to look at it, a silver lining to every err.. Rain cloud! What a silly idea, but lovely.

Soul usually tried to keep herself relatively close to home, but here lately that had not been working out so well. So many people needed saving and she’d just gone ahead and taken over for her pregnant and now with foal mother. Imagine! Three more siblings to call her own, how truly exciting. The bright green eyes faded shut for a moment of peace before she became more alert and glanced around her to see if anything of importance was going on. Lena had been big into saving others and now she had handed the family torch down to her. She just had to help others that were too silly or stupid to help themselves. Without calling them silly or stupid of course because that just wasn’t the nicest way to act around others…

She shifted her weight from one side to the other, shaking her rather fluffy mane out of her face. She had coloring from both parents. Lime green eyes from her mother, fluffy mane and tail streaked in silver and white from her father, wings tipped in slight blue like her mom, and a dark dark blue coat just like her daddy’s. She was a mix of them both and held herself with pride.

Out of the corner of Soul’s eyes she saw a stallion running hard and then leaping into the air. What a crazy way to take flight, she preferred a more demur take off than that, it was so much safer after all.. Oh and look at him, the goose was doing flips and stuff. She’s never do anything like that and honestly had no desire to attempt something like that. Okay, when she had been little there may have been one or two loop-de-loo but nothing like this. Green eyes opened even wider as she continued to watch… did he realize just how crazy he looked up in the sky? It was almost too much.

Oh no, that was the last straw! Putting her ears against her head, Soul wore a mask of determination and beat her wings a few times in a nice forceful manner, taking off carefully and with more than a little bit of distaste at her task. Rescueing people who were in distress was more than fun, it was her career.. But this! This was helping the village idiot from himself. Seething a little bit, Soul forced herself to take a deep breath and calm herself before taking a more stream-lined position. She flew at the stallion from his side, unsure if he saw her or not, but at least she was not stupid enough to come at him from behind. Likely end up getting kicked in the head or something from startling some unsuspecting soquilis. The idea made a half-smile form on the pretty maw and she mentally kicked herself for not paying attention.

“OH YOU! YOU! Stoppit!“ She was yelling loudly, but the wind from the oncoming storm seemed to have taken away her voice and replaced it with something weak an almost useless. Fear came into her eyes as she realized how high up she was, but Soul wasn’t going to land til the village idiot did. If he could do this then so could she.. Or she’d die. Beating her wings more forcefully she tried hard to close the gap between them, screeching as loudly as she could at him the entire time. Her body was beginning to ache from the screaming and flying.. Oh lord.

He was so focused, so intent on figuring out how to get the result he wanted that he didn't even see the other Soquili appear in the field below him. Or when she took off and ascended up to him. In his defense, she was dark enough in coloring that she blended right in the with dark landscape and murky sky.

Dreyden did, however, catch movement out of the corner of his eye and a shouted word of Stoppit! filter thought the winds. A quick glance and he'd spotted the rather annoyed looking mare coming straight at him. The first thought that came to mind was 'Who did Dad piss off now?'. The second - 'Aw s**t, she's not stopping.'. Dreyden folded his wings and rolled neatly out of the way and away from the approaching mare, so she could just shoot pass him without colliding.

Flapping his wings hard, he twisted back around to face her, eyes narrowed against the winds. He noticed how hard her muscles were working against the winds and how quickly she was tiring. And while Dreyden could likely stay up here a good half hour or so more, even with the winds, he was never one to intentionally cause distress to a lady...Unless it was his sister. But Carmine wasn't a lady anyway. In any case, this dark colored mare looked like she wanted to give him a piece of her mind, which couldn't be done without screaming against the thunder and winds this high in the air. It was tempting to just stay in the air, bolt away and escape what could turn out to be a vicious tongue lashing. But his honor, and the thought of turning into a coward, made him shift and glide up close to the mare so he could speak to her without shouting.

"Let's land. Too much noise here." With that, Dreyden let the winds pull him away from her, riding the currents and circling at a leasurely pace towards the ground. Nothing at all like the breakneck speeds at which he'd last approached land. His mind drifted back to his latest trick. Today was a bust, but at least he wasn't quite so listless feeling. The adrenaline was still filtering through him, burning his melencholy away and making his crimson eyes fairly gleam. What could he say, he thrived on the feeling. If the storm passed, he'd try again tomorrow. Or the next day....

With those thoughts, he reached the ground, legs churning at the air before touching ground with a jingling of belts, crimson wings pumping backwards a few times to break his excess momentum. The stallion trotted a handful of paces forward, his path curved slightly before he came to a full stop, standing and tossing his hair out of his eyes before looking upwards, seeking out the mare that had brought his aerial antics to an end.
