Siran slapped cold water on her face, hearing the roar and rumble of dragons in the distance. From the purple whirling in her dragon's eyes, she very well knew what was happening. Ariath was rising to mate once more. Tiranth bellowed, her tenor tone mingling with that of the bronzes' and golden Ariath's. She wanted to rise to mate, wanted to feel the heat pounding through her veins, to be eating the clouds with her wings.

Siran knew... and feared it. She closed her eyes, feeling the warm flush of her cheeks, uncomfortable with the sensations that were accompanied by the thought. She was grasping at straws, trying to find something, anything to keep her from her green's lust. Finally, her mind settled on something that she had discussed with a weyrling earlier that same week.

L'mur had asked her (politely) if she'd please take the time to bring his sister to the Weyr to celebrate his Impression. She'd agreed, and told him that she would bring the girl, Jessmet back to Rias Weyr within the week. And her week was almost up. Tiranth, love... do you remember the coordinations to Krinn Hold? L'mur would like for us to retrieve his sibling. She waited for the green to register her question, knowing full well that she would be distracted.

L'mur? Another like him? Yes... I remember what he told me. He gave me clear images. Clearly, Tiranth was proud of that fact. The four year old dragon was swiftly growing to be fond of the weyrling, no doubt in part due to his status as a greenrider. The boy who could hear dragons drew a good deal of respect from them.

Quickly, because she wanted to escape as soon as possible, Siran prepared herself for the journey, and told Tiranth to inform L'mur that they would be fetching his sister. A quick hop a dragonback, a jump into the cold of between, and they were there... at the steps of Krinn Hold. There was a small crowd gathering as the rider removed her weyrhide gloves, straightening her riding straps as she slid gracefully down from her dragon's back.

Quite distracted by all the goings-on, L'mur barely acknowledged Tiranth's message, sending on a terse, Thank you! Fly safe, before continuing to be bombarded with emotions and draconic commentary.
---

Lady Jessmina of Krinn Hold greeted the greenrider. The holder's wife, a graceful woman of 40-some Turns, strode forward. Never one to be intimidated, she gave Siran a welcoming smile. "Welcome to Krinn Hold, dragonrider. I'm Lady Jessmina, how may I help you?"

"Greetings, Lady Jessmina. I am Siran, rider of green Tiranth. I have been sent by a young man by the name of Lemurrin, now called L'mur, to extend a personal invitation to his sister to join him at Rias Weyr, and provide her transportation if she should wish to accompany him." Siran gave the lady the courtesy that she had grown accustomed to offering Holders, and put what might be termed as her best foot forward. "If you would be so kind as to have me shown to the young man's sister, Jessmet, I would be greatly obliged." Tiranth seemed to be very amused by the small children that were clustering around her, very aware of her own beauty.

Jessmina blinked. She and her husband had received word from their son regarding his Impression and they were both, of course, proud to have a dragonrider in the family, but.. "My daughter? Lem-- L'mur has asked you to take her south? But this is so sudden..." She shook her head in an effort to regain her composure.

Meanwhile, Jessmet's eyes had been drawn to the courtyard, lured by the dainty green. Why would a dragonrider come to Krinn? She was suddenly reminded of the note from her brother. Fingering the hide for a moment, she then shoved the letter into her bodice. She ran headlong down from her quarters, stopping breathlessly next to Jessmina. "Good evening, greenrider," she said, green eyes flashing mischievously. "Did L'mur send you? Am I to go the Weyr?"

A flicker something passed through the dragonrider's hawk-like amber eyes. The corner of her mouth might have twitched, but that much was difficult to determine. "But of course, with her parents' permission, my lady." Siran inclined her head politely to the Lady. "It is L'mur's fondest wish that his sister keep him company in the Weyr for now..." and a certain light entered her eyes. "Rias Weyr would be glad of any of his bloodline..." she muttered under her breath. A boy who heard dragons? Unheard of. Amazing. More loudly, she said,"and so this, I take it, is the sister?" A wry smile fixed itself on her lips as she glanced at Jessmet.

"Oh yes, my lady, my name is Jessmet. You know L'mur then? How is he? Oh I was so happy to hear he'd Impressed!" She would have kept on babbling had her mother not practically elbowed in her in the ribs. Jess subsided cheerfully, clearly used to being hushed up.

Lady Jessmina hid a smile at her daughter's exuberance. "I suppose it would be alright, at least for a visit." She stressed the final word.

"Really? I can go? I have a bag packed and everything, I'll just be a minute!" Jess made as if to go dashing off to collect her things and was promptly restrained by one wrist. She made a face at her mother but stood quietly, waiting for the greenrider to deliver her verdict.

"A visit, of course. I would be glad to take her to visit her brother." Of course, Siran had an inkling that it would turn out to be more than a mere visit... a feeling that was back up by the fact that Tiranth, at the sight of Jessmet, craned her head down and crooned. The lovely green seemed quite pleased by the young lady, more so than her rider would have thought. Ordinarily, the dragon did not take a shine to females (with the exception of dragons, of course).

The dragonrider scanned the heights for a dragon, and then shrugged, looking about her... her thin, angular features at odds with those of the women around her. She seemed to mellow when given space, out in the open. Within the close quarters of the Weyr she had to work to keep herself from snapping at erstwhile weyrlings and cocky riders. "You have given Rias a fine rider, my lady. Our finest commendations to you." A smile hovered over and dispersed from her lips.

"I am familiar with L'mur. He seems to be happy as I have seen a newly impressed rider be. He did well, impressing green Saranth." It was natural for the rider to express herself so, having experienced such an Impression no more than four years before. "Be off with you then, young lady. We've no time to waste." She smiled apologetically at Lady Jessmina.

Not waiting for her mother to respond, Jess whirled to give her a kiss on the cheek, and dashed off to get her bag.

"Ah.." Lady Jessmina tried valiantly to keep from showing how overwhelming all this was. Would she lose her only daughter, her youngest child, to the Weyr? "May I offer you something to eat or drink? Please, come in and give us news from my son." The woman turned to lead Siran into the main hall.

"If you please, while I am hungry myself, my dragon is hungrier than I am. Would you happen to have a runner beast or herd beast to spare? Two, if possible." Siran was trying to be polite, while the insistent hunger pangs pulsed through her mind. Poor Tiranth hadn't eaten for quite awhile. The green was simply too taken up with doing other things to bother. "I would be glad to give you and your husband news of L'mur."

Jessmina gulped, trying not to think of a hungry dragon. "Ah, I suppose we could spare a herdbeast for your green. Just not one of the prime breeding stock, please." She gestured to one of the serving women to bring them klah and dainties. "Please, have a seat." The lady holder led Siran to a small but elegantly appointed table, perfectly suited for semi-formal afternoon meals.

The serving woman bowed as she presented the klah and a platter of small sandwiches and scurried off, rather in awe of the dragonrider.

Jessmina smiled and took a seat. "So. What is going on at Rias? And how is my son?"

"He flourishes at the Weyr. He's grown to be quite the favorite among the elder dragonriders. Always polite and well spoken. His dragon is beautiful, a lovely green by the name of Saranth." Siran smiled now, pleased to speak of a subject that she liked. Her next thought was none so happy. "The reason that I have chosen this moment to bring you his news is that Ariath flies again, and I do not want my green so near a flight. Not when she is of age with the queen." It was not that personal of knowledge. Quite common, really. "I hope that you do not mind that I have come here partially to escape that."

A brief look of confusion crossed the lady's face until realization of the implications of Siran's words struck. She was dignified enough not to flush. "Ah, of course," she said, nodding. She smiled proudly. "I'm not surprised that Lemurrin, er, L'mur, I should say, is doing well. He loved the Harper Hall, but it is of course an honor to have a son at the Weyr." Jessmina sipped at her klah. "I must admit I was not completely surprised to receive notice of his Impression."

"He is exactly the sort to impress. Exactly what young Saranth needed." Siran chuckled. "Tiranth adores the little girl, constantly playing the role of affectionate elder sister. Of course, she's really her aunt. I'm glad that L'mur has done so well by himself." He was, of course, one of the more tolerable weyrlings. Normally, the young ones grated on her nerves, but with the way her dragon so liked his, she couldn't help but be a little fond of him. "You are both to be proud of him. He has done nothing but behave honorably and as befits a young dragonrider."

"Wonderful. He always was a grounded child." Jessmina beamed. "I'm sure Jessi will tell him, but we do all miss him, so far away in the south." No use being sad, of course. All four of her children were old enough to be out on their own, even her flighty daughter

Meanwhile, Jessmet was franticly throwing breeches, tunics, and a couple of skirts into a leather bag. She snatched up a few other odds and ends and buckled the straps of the pack. Standing at the entrance to her quarters, she looked around. She pinched herself to make sure it was true. She, Jessmet of Krinn Hold, was really going to the Weyr!

"Good to see a parent so supportive of a child's decision. Sad to say, we've many young weyrlings whose parents disown them when they join the Weyr." The greenrider was more laid back now, having grown comfortable in the woman's presence. In her head, she could hear Tiranth's pleased crow as she ate an old herdbeast. "It would be nice to have music at Rias. I do hope one of these young harpers becomes the Weyrsinger." Siran suppressed a laugh, knowing that somewhere young Jessmet was running around, frantic to get everything together as soon as possible. If Siran had anything to say about it, they wouldn't leave right away. Not with the flight happening as she spoke.
