I got a friend request from someone I didn't know and politely declined them saying that if we got to know each other I would reconsider friending her.
Reasonable right?
So we get to PMing each other and making small talk. Mostly about how I have really expensive avis and wondering how I got all the items. I'm being polite and suggesting ways she can get more gold and we're having a lovely time. Then she asks me to loan her 100,000 gold saying that she promises to pay me back. What the hell?! I politely decline saying that I make a point not to loan gold. She asks again how much gold I would have left if I gave her 100,000 and if she can have the 100,000. I, again, decline more firmly suggesting that if she is so desperate to get a particular item she can open a questing thread for donations. I have yet to hear back and somehow don't expect to.
She also claimed to have been on gaia from 2000 to 2009. You, madam, are confused.

I'm proud to say that over the past 10 years I've developed a great deal of patience with children. It's quite a useful skill when dealing with rude people in general because if you continue to be polite it just makes them more angry. lol

Our conversation up until the "give me your goldz" was pleasant. But then, I assume she was just buttering me up. She complimented my avi, asked how I managed to have such nice things. General noobish questions.
Isn't it funny?! I rather enjoyed the whole terrible conversation just because I wondered what poorly executed insult she would come up with next. ^_^; I admit I was a little disappointed when she didn't respond to my last message.
And speaking of amusing...There should be a font or something for condescending. Someone came up with a style for sarcasm. It's italic leaned the other way and it really does look rather sarcastic!

I feel you. I hate beggars. I mean, there are people out there on Gaia, like me, who have lost everything and still work their butt of to get it. They can put some of their time and effort into earning gold.

Hell yeah I did! I remember trying to earn 4,000g so I could get fox ears! It was the first expensive item I wanted!
Also, I commend you for working extra hard to get back the items you lost.
This sort of behavior makes me wonder though. I mean, when it comes time to get a job are they going to ring the doorbells of mansions and say, "HEY YOU JERK!!! YOU HAVE LOTS OF MONEY!! GIVE ME SOME!!"

And I totally feel for you about stupid people. Like, this guy PMed me and 4 other people the other day because he didn't like how I priced a Gaia item. Sorry, but I don't think that doll is worth the price you're asking for, so I'm not going to change my price...I can't any way since it's a bid. Also, there are plenty of other ways to make gold on Gaia, and focusing on those things instead of being upset for one item price drop will be more productive to your gold account.

Also, it'd be funny to send him PMs asking him to lower his price because I think it's too high. You can't, of course, but the rest of us could. lol

Did you know that competition companies do that though? Soda companies--airplane companies do it a LOT... Blech. It's all so that it will increase profit--and ends up screwing the people over. D:

@ Mugoi: Yeah seriously, that would be funny if everyone asked him to lower his prices, but meh he seems like the type of person who wouldn't change it or learn the lesson.
@ Chloie: Thank you, yeah, I just don't like contributing to the inflation of items. I mean, it was just a doll with 3 poses. It was not worth the 300k like he was asking for. I always try to price around the average buying price, which is reasonable...but clearly not for that guy. <_<;
And yeah, I'm a business major and I love the field, but sometimes the increasing greed and lack of ethics make it a hard field to be in.

Oh man...what you said about it being hard to be in the business of business...I had an Econ professor who put out a special edition of the book he wanted us to use. It was only available new from the school bookstore. It was never going to be used again, so we couldn't sell it back. He wrote the book and it cost $80. He made a killing off of us because we had no other choice.
People in the industry who do that crap give it a bad name.
