Proposed build up road map of how guam will change" The document outlines proposals, including to:
• Have 30,190 military personnel and their dependents on Guam, of whom 25 percent will live on military base facilities, the rest will live off-base30k. eek That's alot of military personel moving to this island. I sure hope things stay the same but obv. it won't. crying I'm thinking there will be alot of conflict that may potentially happen when all these troops come in. I know for a fact that there will be alot of jets making noise overhead when they come over, and everyone hates the screeching and the loudness of those jets when they fly overhead. mad How would you like it if something like this happened to where ever you lived and you didn't have much of a say in it? emo

-Silver Catalyst- Well I'd be in a limbo for one. I can understand the army here, but why at guam? neutral Guam is a military base, since like 1900s.
It's the perfect spot to have a base since it's right in the middle and closest to southeast asia. dramallama
which is basically why the u.s. decided to use this area way back then. basically, the u.s. is using us in a way, my chamorro teacher was talking about why the u.s. chose this place, but it's too much of a blur to remember. gonk
it's like a pitstop, alot of military fleets stop by here. and they have an airforce base here. they already have alot of troops here but i guess it makes sense to move them here than in Hawaii which is too far. confused
If there is war in SE Asia then this is where the troops would deploy to go to whereever. but then if there is a war and the enemy is going to bomb the place where the troops are, then we're going to be victims. crying
just like 15 minutes from i live really but then you need military i.d. to get in there but s**t there is cheap crying .

Oh it was a base I remember now. Ah well, they'd use any base I guess. crying I hope you guys don't get bombed. crying I worry about that stuff happening in Wash. too. How so?

Not really, they'd have to choose a base that is in a perfect location, just in case there is a war, they'd have a good place to take off from and guam is perfect. hawaii is way too far and we wouldnt like a repeat of Pearl Harbor now.
but we're so close to North Korea, so Guam > Washington in terms of location from them. crying
like products in public, they be like 50% off in base stores.
let's say a videogame is $54 in a regular store, in base, it'd be like $20 or something, and brand new too. eek

I feel bad for that now. D: Sweet, makes me want to buy stuff now. surprised You serious?! *Runs out* eek *comes back* Any good ones? ninja

http://www.guampdn.com/article/20091121/NEWS01/911210304/EIS-gives-clues-to-buildup-activities
Here's a quick glance of some of the proposed changes on Guam if the draft becomes final -- a decision likely reached at some point next year, according to military time lines:
# An Army missile defense's administrative offices will share a vast location in the Finegayan area with the preferred Marine Corps base in Finegayan;
# A population boom that, at the height of the military buildup activities, will add 79,178 people to the island -- approximately half the number of people currently on the island;
the thing im looking at is the population 79k, that's like 79k in a 5 year period. eek
ok guam isn't THAT big, now. neutral

I hate the military. mad Yeah, they just accidentally hit a town a few miles from my house with a dummy bomb. Can't wait for them to start dropping the real things. lol I don't hate them, I just don't always agree with everything they do. Like for testing bombs they should go blow up the desert in western states rather than Florida.

I know an island not too far away was used as a nuclear testing spot iirc. Yeah i support the troops but the thing about them is their characters aren't all so great, half are just bad. they get broken down and then worked back into killing machines. then the other aspects are just gathered back at a later time. there are alot of rape cases in okinawa from these military personnels and dont say that wont happen here. crime rate, well from drunk marines will soar.
