For the most part life in the Achana was calm and uneventful, sometimes to the point of being boring. Thus Sumati's habit of wandering around the borders 90 per cent of the time. However, recently something very exciting had happened - Isikali had just had two cubs which meant Sumati had two little brothers. He visited them as often as he could, but they were still too young to be playing with him and definitely too young for adventures of any kind. And so the blue cheetah found himself wandering around on his own yet again.
Outside of his family Sum didn't have many friends. There was the leopon Xenia, she was a little more than a cub now and, of course, Kipepo. Even tough they didn't see each other that often, as she was not a part of his group, he regarded her as his best friend and treasured every moment they spent together. A lot of time had passed since their last meeting and he found himself visiting the borders more and more often, hoping to catch a glimpse of her light-blue fur.

She hadn't been here for a while.
Kipepo wasn't sure why. She'd been with her parents, exploring a little further from the den as she grew older, and bolder. Accompanying her siblings as they were entrusted with the task of catching prey. Ah, the memories - she remembered catching that gazelle, and then Larissa and she having such trouble dragging it back. It took them hours to drag it all the way back home! She'd been having her visions less and less as she grew, and Kipepo had begun to master a certain amount of control over them. They were still random, but she could ton them down, so they only distracted her a little rather than caused her head to feel like it was exploding with the pain. She'd also come to realize that coming into contact with others seemed to initiate certain feelings, sometimes an actual vision. Always something to do with the past.
But now she was back. It had suddenly occured to the female that she hadn't seen Sumati in a while - outside of her family, he was her best friend. Her only friend. She should've come and seen him before now, but things were all happening so fast. She was nearly an adult - growing larger every day, small and lithe like her mother. Picking her way carefully through the vegetation, wary of the fact that she was much larger than she was last time, her steely eyes glanced around her curiously.

Sumati threaded along the narrow path in the thick growth, his tail tip flicking from side to side lazily. his ears perked a he picked up the rustling of greenery nearby and he sniffed eagerly at the air. There was a scent, but it was so faint that he couldn't quite recognize it. But it made something click in his mind and he followed it, violet eyes carefully scanning the area. He tried to be as silent as possible in case the person he had caught the scent of wasn't that friendly. However something told him that wasn't the case.
He caught something with the corner of his eye and snapped his head to his left just in time to see the white tip of a thin tail, a cheetah's tail, disappear into the thick jungle growth. Wasting no time he went after it, but slightly circling to the left and jumped out of the bushes right in front of whomever it was he was chasing.

Maybe he wasn't patrolling the borders anymore, like he used to... Maybe she hadn't been here for so long he'd given up, or maybe he'd gotten bored of her and found another friend. The thought saddened Kipepo a little and she sighed, although her expression brightened considerably when she recognized where she was going. She was in the Achana lands now, she knew that much. But just over there, that rock. That was the rock at the front of the firefly place, where Sumati had first taken her all those long months ago.
She stopped, smile widening to a grin, before she heard a rustle to her left, instinctively hissing under her breath as a large blue shape suddenly jumped out in front of her, Kipepo ready to leap. But she didn't - the blue that flooded her sight, the scent that flooded her nostrils...it was far, far too familiar for Kipepo to even consider attacking him. She gasped, before smiling widely, tail flicking to the left as she took a jump forwards, not really wanting to leap at him. They were adolescents now...he was probably over all of that.
"Sumati!"

The other's hiss barely caught his ears, but as he landed on all fours he was ready to defend himself. Then he registered the face he was seeing - white mask and gray eyes on light-blue fur. She also recognized him and he smiled happily at that. "Kipepo!" Sumati was certainly not over playing like a cub, even tough he was far from one now. He went along with her and would have let her push him down if she had meant to jump him.
When she didn't he circled her with playful leaps until he was standing in front of her again. "It's been so long! I thought you had forgotten me." He was so happy to see her that he gave her a light peck on the cheek and pulled away quickly. "I'm really glad you're back."

He recognized her and began dancing around her, Kipepo struggling to keep facing him all the way around, the cheetah pivoting on the spot so she watched as he circled her. Her smile was wide, her expression happy as she clambered to her own feet, lowering her front and raising her hind, wiggling it in the air playfully as she jumped from left to right then back again, before finally standing up properly, blushing just a little as he gave her a quick kiss.
"I didn't forget you! I've just been so busy, and Mom and Pa have been making me do the hunting and stuff!" she hurriedly confessed, not wanting him to think she'd forgotten him. She hadn't! She had been busy! She purred at his last statement, though, "I'm glad too."

Sumati smiled happily, glad to hear that. "Hunting, huh? That's neat. I bet you're great at it." He meant what he said as he praised her. Sumati's expression softened at her purr and he made the same sound in his throat. "It's been kind of boring without you around." He confessed. "Not entirely tough, I have two little brothers now. But I haven't had a chance to play with them yet, they're too young." He added quickly, thinking of the little furballs snuggling at his mother's side.
"But now that you're here we're going to have so much fun!" He beamed at her. "Maybe you could stay longer this time?"

Kipepo beamed a smile to the slightly older cheetah, maw stretching into a wide, slightly-toothy grin. "You bet!" She perhaps wasn't the best...no, her mother was still better than her. But she was getting much, much better, and was pretty sure she'd be able to beat even her mother in the coming weeks! She noticed his softened expression, and her own grin softened to a fond, warm smile, the cheetah giggling as he made a few confessions. It'd been boring? Aww, he'd missed her! Moving forwards, Kipepo purred as she nuzzled his cheek, unaware of how the gesture could be taken as she sat a little closer than might be considered 'comfortable', leaning on Sumati playfully.
"Aww, I bet they're adorable! Bet your mom's got her paws full, though!" Stay longer? She couldn't help it, she grinned again, "Mom and Pa have said I'm growing up. That I need to start deciding my path, where I want to live..."
She trailed off a little. Would Sumati think it weird, that she wanted to live here?

He blushed slightly as she nuzzled him and moved closer, but thankfully is fur covered it up. He found he liked it when she leaned on him and, purring, he brushed his muzzle against the top of her head affectionately.
"Oh, yes! They are full of energy." He nodded with a silly grin. The cubs were lot like their brothers. "But mom is a cool, uh, mom. She did a good job raising me and my brothers, no?" He winked at her playfully. Then he realised she hadn't met his brothers yet. Hmm, he would have to fix that.
His ears perked at her last statement. Looking at her hopefully he said: "I, ah, I'd love it if you lived here." His tone was even, he didn't want her to think he was being pushy.

Kipepo was a small cheetah, so her head only just reached Sumati's shoulder. As such, she didn't have a clue to any blushing, instead wriggling as his muzzle brushed lightly across her head. That tickled! She giggled, nipping his shoulder affectionately, before settling into a comfortable sitting position, eyes flickering shut as she purred contentedly. She liked this - sitting here, with Sumati, like this. It was nice.
Energy? She smiled, though remained where she was, perfectly comfortable there. She felt his body twist above her, though, getting the feeling he was looking down. Opening her eyes, she cranked her head up, smiling sweetly as their eyes met, although her expression faded to surprise as he expressed his desire for her to stay with him. ...So he did want her to stay? "You'd want me to stay?"

He chuckled and nipped at her ear in return, not caring if it was childish behavior or not. He felt his heart skip a beat as their eyes met and she smiled. He liked her smile. He liked everything about her and he really liked the feeling of her sitting at his side. It brought a certain sense of comfort no one else had managed to make him feel. It was different than when he was with his family, a different kind of affection.
He smiled brightly, but his eyes retained their tender look."I'd love it!" He assured her. "I really care about you, Kipepo and it would be great to always have you here."

She grinned, but didn't retaliate to his playful behaviour, instead concentrating more on her thoughts. He'd love it if she stayed here? Love...it was a strong word. Kipepo had once asked her mother what it was, but the only response she'd received was that she'd know when she'd found it. She pondered what Sumati thought it was, but pushed the thought aside, smiling brightly once again as she pushed herself up, touching her nose to his in a meaningful gesture.
"Okay. I'll stay."

Sumati closed his eyes as their noses touched with a wide smile. "Really? I'm glad." His heart was bursting with joy and he let out a laugh. He sprang to his paws, curled in a semi-circle up in the air. "This is so great!" He told her excitedly, silly smile still in place.
"We have to find you a den!" He said with sudden realization. " Or you could stay with me for now if you want." He suggested. "I wouldn't mind."

He was glad? That made her heart flutter a little, almost like it was swelling and pressing against her ribcage. She liked that he was happy. ...She was happy. A den, though? Woa, quite fast moving. She smiled sweetly, nodding as she began walking, assuming he'd follow beside her. "Show me yours - I don't mind staying with you."

Hearing that she wanted to stay with him made Sumati grin even wider, if that was possible. "I'd love to." If happy feelings could make you float, Sum would positively be soaring by now. He didn't know why Kipepo managed to bring him such happiness but he didn't delve into it. It was the way it was. Trotting after her until they were shoulder to shoulder he said: "This way, Miss!"
