Finally, a chance to explore these lands with the freedom given to a member of the pride. No more skirting around with an escort, or being restricted to locations and times. No, she was now kin with the ones of this land. And like the rest of the pride, though so unlike their species, this female could stand tall and proud now in this place called home.
Flexing her heavy tail, the dark feline prowled across the sandy treeline. It was none too far from the sea's edge, the smell and crisp wind well able to smooth across the female's fur. A dark blue against the pale greens, it might have been odd to spot the leopardess roaming in the area. But her scent was familiar and her face kind as she relaxed beneath the soft leaves. Her pale eyes scanned across the beach, taking in all the youngsters and elders of the pride with quiet recognition. She knew so many by their faces, but only a small portion she knew by name. A detail she'd have to soon fix, no doubt. But for now, she'd relax and enjoy the weather.
Yes, that sounded pleasant.

Strolling across the white sand of the tropical beach the muscular frame of the rogue painted in shades of ocean spray and fathomless blue seemed to fit into the sea faring pride far better in physical appearance than mentality. He was still amazed at how easily he had infiltrated their ranks to become a commoner like all the rest. The others looked upon him with completely unsuspecting gazes, so innocent and trusting. Is this what it meant to be part of a Pride? To be so sheltered from harm that one couldn't sniff out a potential threat to the peace when it was staring them straight in the face?
The thought lingered even as a familiar scent caught his nose causing tri-colored muzzle to twitch with interest. It was the leopardess from the Kauma'baraka, the only member of the pride that wasn't a lion. It was strange to see the normally solitary species at home amongst so many larger felines. Watching her settle in the shade of the treeline Catamaran moved towards her in lazy strides despite how she piqued his interest. Her coloring suited Kallia's ideal and reasons he wasn't quite certain of, he was glad for it. Sitting on his haunches a respectable distance from her, his tail flicked, greeting the attractive mink with a rakish smile, shaking his bangs from green eyes. I saw you at the Kauma'baraka, didn't I? What's brought you to the Bahari'mtoto?

The terrain was so relaxing, with the sound of waves caressing the grains of sand, the smell of salt in the air, and the perfect temperature of sun and chill touching her fur. It was no wonder she took some time to finally take note of the other pride member. Well, not that she hadn't taken note before since she had been visually cataloging each and every lion in sight. Even the ones she had seen during the pride rites, both old and new lion residents. And it was this particular lion walking in her direction, with obvious intent of conversation in his eyes. Surprised to find herself taking a cautious breath, the dark female gave a casually kind smile.
"That would be correct, good sir. I was at the recent Kauma'baraka. As were you, if I'm not mistaken?" Just to be certain, not knowing if the male had any identical kin. And besides that, their fur was already well dry from the earlier swim, so there was no hint there.
Ears flexed back in soft folds to the others question, her light eyes blinking the surprise from her system. It wasn't really a question she expected to quickly or openly. And she felt nearly compelled to not reply, taking a moment to herself and leaving an odd silence between the duo. Heavy tail curved to loop beside her front paws before she gave a meek shrug. "My territory was brought to ruin by a wildfire. There was nothing to salvage, and no choice but to move forward." A shadow crossed her face before she shook her head with a light sigh. "And what of you? If I be so bold to ask."

Open, friendly expression masked scrutinizing eyes which were picking apart the lovely leopardess' posture as he read her silent signals in the way he'd become so adept at. An act which had become so second nature to him that Catamaran rarely realized he was doing anything at all and--more often than not--neither did his victims. Flashing an unintrusive smile to further perpetuate the image of a nonthreatening kinsman simply extending a paw in greetings and potential friendship as he approached, the rogue continued to breach the space of safety between them. Lean frame finally falling still when Cata had encroached far enough to find himself only a single strides width away from the target trained in his sight. Lazily dropping his haunches into the ever shifting sand where he shifted his weight until the terrain was comfortably flat beneath beneath him, tail trailing disjointedly as if it possessed a mind of its own. For a long moment Cata simply absorbed the presence of the feline before him, glad that her kind smile hadn't yet seemed to falter.
When the silence stretched on to something beyond peaceful, but not quite having yet reached uncomfortable Catamaran finally spoke. Oh? You noticed... it's true, I rolled in on the tide with Kallia and her merry band. She's a high strung lady, but I think she means well.
He found himself making sea references in his speech even before he could stop himself, grimacing inwardly. Blending in here would be as difficult as stealing a meal of some unsuspecting hyena, the rogue appeared to be a natural. Not that it should have come as any surprise. Chameleon wasn't just a pet name.
For a while the silence stretched on, but Catamaran made no indication of discomfort. Allowing the leopardess time to consider how to react given her--at least what appeared to be--mild discomfort towards his forwardness. Pleased when she responded without any presence of hostility. You're not the type who's quick to jump to conclusions. I like that.
It was something completely ingrained in his being, like a nervous tick, to analyze and dissect everything about a person. From their body language to the intonations used when they spoke the male found himself stripping down the layers to discover what was underneath. And while it had never been something he had ever done intentionally before, over time it had proven to become a useful skill in deciding how to manipulate others. Twitching ears suggested Cata was still attentive to his present company even as the gears clicked within that steel trap mind.
So her previous home was in cinders, but it was spoken of with only mild emotions. Interesting. Was the aquatic colored female without lingering regrets for the loss of her home or was it better to assume that she was just a creature with a simple heart? Whichever the reason, he didn't pursue the train of thought, distracted by the fact that the question was returned at him. The answer she received was far less delayed than her own. I grew up listening to tales of this pride from my grandmother... we were a part of it a long time ago. I've only ever known a rogue's life though. Guess I'm just chasing ghosts.
The words fell freely, beautifully conveyed and weaved into the perfect balance of honesty, falsehood and double meanings. He didn't breathe a word of Galleon for reasons he wasn't quite sure of himself. Even if his brother was his only purpose for being here Catamaran couldn't bring himself to mention it.
