Adelle bounced happily in her newly-developed body, wiggling as she stood in front of the pizza shop, closed on that day, and rung the little bell kept for such occasions, excited to be able to see her friend again as well as give him the big box of dipped fruits that she'd had her grandad by for him, in a roundabout way. Plus, they were whole fruits, like pears dipped in chocolate and caramel-covered apples, which he could eat in one bite, or share with Pac-Man or somethin' like that.
He main point of excitement, though, was being able to show off how much bigger she got, as well as work on some simple math problems that she'd gotten from her teacher, given Fitzroy was good at math compared to her. Even if he was still younger, he'd always been better at that. Math and drawing. Plus, Adhi needed to go do... somethin'. She didn't know what, but she made sure to wave with a smile as her mama drove off and away from the pizza shop. For a moment, Adelle debated going off to see Adriel again, but she decided against it. Since she'd grown, her mama seemed more content to let her go places herself, so she didn't want to ruin it.

Fitzroy just about flew down the stairs and across the pizza shop's lobby to answer the door, grinning happily. He always loved when Adelle came over: she was pretty and nice and his bestest friend ever. Pac-man liked her too, as she fed him very regularly. As such, the tummy-mouth itself was grinning in excitement as Fitzroy wrestled with the door knob for a few seconds before opening it, mouth dropping at how... different Adelle had become.
"WOAH. Woah, woah, you gots big and pwetty, 'Delle!" he said with an astonished smile, grabbing her hand and leading her in. Pac-man, of course, had senses only for the box of fruit, which he snapped for impatiently, earning himself a reproachful poke from Fitzroy. "Now you wait, Paccy-man. Nommins come later." He pouted at the sentient mouth, wanting to look all grown up in front of Adelle. After all, she was all big now too, so he had to act all matuuuure. He idly wondered when he was going to get bigger, or if he was going get bigger at all.
Once they were in Fitzroy's room, he quickly cleared the small table of crayons and watercolor paintings, pulling up a chair for Adelle before sitting himself. To be honest, now he was pretty eager on getting to those fruits, but he restrained himself with difficulty. "So so 'Delle, whaddya wanna do? You had mafs homework, right?"

Adelle giggled happily when her friend pointed out her new growth, posing for him and blushing modestly. "I know, right? It's so neat! I got taller and everything!!" she squeaked happily. "And it was all of a sudden; I just woke up and POOF!! I was bigger!!" she said as she followed her younger friend into the building, pushing the door closed behind her.
"I can't wait until you get bigger, 'Sroy! Then we can do all kindsa secrety adult stuff together, right?" Adelle said with a wink, though she herself didn't know any of this 'secrety adult stuff' and started giggling shortly after she did this, proving that she really didn't know what she was talking about. She wiggled back and forth, though looked a bit lost at the question of math homework before a smile flashed onto her face and she grinned. "Right!! Yeah, I have some math homework I need your help with," she said, nodding her head a few times.
She dropped her backpack unceremoniously to the ground and twirled around, the pink-and-white skirt floofing up and accidentally showing her polka-dotted underpants, though the fact that she leaned over in a very unladylike manner didn't help things. The girl had chosen one of few days to actually dress up in girlie clothing, her outfit being a pink-and-white skirt and tailored shirt combination with a white sweatshirt and white thigh-high stockings, all wrapped up with a pair of pink flats with tiny bows on the straps across the tops of them. And if that wasn't enough, she had her a-lined hair in two pigtails, each tied with both a pink and white frilly little ribbon.
Finally pulling out her papers, she set them on the desk and taking a seat. The page was of multiplication tables with only the zeroes and ones filled in. She also put the bag of fruits on the tabletop, opening it up and pulling out an apple and a pear; the pear went to Fitzroy and the apple to Pac-man, Sutry already taking his place clinging tightly to Fitzroy's arm, ready to object if he chanced movement.

Fitzroy nodded in excited agreement, also unable to wait until he grew. "Ooh, yeah! Like, like, like get in all deh secwet adult clubs 'n shtuff!" Much like his friend, the boy had no idea what he could have been talking about; it merely made sense to him that adults had a secret club somewhere where they did all their adult things. Like... make rules and stuff.
"Okays! I'll help yoo, 'Delle!" the boy replied cheerily, wiggling at his seat on the table as he watched Adelle retrieve the papers. He himself couldn't wait to go to big kid school and do big kid problems; he already knew that he'd be good at it, because he helped Adelle with her homework a lot. Asides, there'd be a lot more to do, which was always a good thing. The tiniest of odd twinges ran through him as Adelle more-or-less flashed him, and he noted to himself that her clothes were especially pretty today.
However, at the sight of the fruits, Fitzoy's attention was immediately diverted, and he gleefully took the fruit from Adelle, both he and Pac-man munching happily on the delicious morsels. Not noticing Sutry's clings or subsequent abuse for once, he leaned over and looked at the math homework, smiling with a full mouth at Adelle. "Show, y' shtuck on multip'cashuns?" He swallowed with most of the fruit still intact, then continued, Pac-man still eating loudly. "So, so, shud we start wiff de toos? 'Cause you can uses your fingers to help you wif dem, at least for a bit. Dough, dat's twoo fo' most of the tables..." he trailed off, nibbling on a fingernail as he pondered this.

Adelle giggled as her younger friend munched away on the snacks that she'd gotten for him, stealing a strawberry for herself and handing over the rest of the bag as she ate it, trying not to get the juice on anything but her hand, which she promptly licked off. She nodded when the boy asked her if she was stuck on multiplications, and frowned at the worksheet, looking up at him with semi-sad eyes.
"Yeah. It's hard and I dun'no why; guess I'm just not good at them like you are, Fitzyroy," she said sweetly, smiling a bit rather than just pouting as she picked up a pencil. "'Kay, then we can start with the twos!" she said happily when her friend said she could use her fingers to help, and she put the pencil back down, holding up her hands and giggling a bit. "Show me how?"

Fitzroy finished licking the chocolate off of his fingers quickly before he put an arm kindly on Adelle's shoulder, giving her his best encouraging smile. He didn't know why she was so sad that she couldn't do it; there were things that she could do like he couldn't, like, like wear dresses nice! "Dun worry, 'Delle; you'll gets it soon, I pwomise!"
Fitzroy smiled excitedly when she held up her hands, and quickly held up his as well, his hands in two fists. "Okays! So, so, dis is how I like to fink of it. So, like, fer two times two, right, yoo can hold up two fingers here-" here he held up two fingers "-and ifs you hold up two more fingers, dat's like two times two! 'Nd, 'nd you count, 'n' it's fouw, see? 'Nd, you can do de same fing for free, look!" He held up his last two remaining fingers. "'Nd you count, 'nd dat's sicks, see? 'Nd you can do dat fer alla dem up t' ten, usin' yer toes 'n' shtuff. Well, I mean, you can, 'Delle, but I can't really," he finished breathlessly with a slightly embarrassed smile on his face.
"Make sense?" he asked hopefully. He really wanted Adelle to do good, because then she'd be super-happy. Which was always a good thing.

Adelle mimicked her friend's actions as well as she could with the four more fingers that she possessed, and continued even after her instructor stopped. "Okaykay..." she mumbled, before looking at her paper and back to her fingers, starting over after writing '4' underneath 2x2. "So that means that... um... two and three makes..." She slowly counted her fingers, never the best with numbers (or words), and then grinned. "That means two and three makes six, right 'Sroy?!" she asked excitedly, a bright smile on her face.

"Mmhmm, dat's wight, 'Delle!" Fitzroy said with a huge smile, proud of both his friend and himself for his awesome teaching skills. He wiggled happily as she wrote down the right number, and then hopped up, one hand on top of Pac-man to keep him from eating the table.
"Uh-ohs, looks like I'm still hungery. Um, Imma make some nacheeos, mmkay 'Delle? Dun worry, I'll make 'nuff fer you, too! Just call me if's you got kwestshuns!" And with that, Fitzroy dashed off to the kitchen, putting together all kinds of things and covering them in cheese, that being the extent of his understanding of nachos.

Adelle giggled happily, continuing with her math problems and barely even noticing when Fitzroy stood up and announced his continuing need for nourishment. She smiled up and him and nodded, her wings flapping behind her. As the boy got up, Sutry objected by clinging more tightly to his arm before flailing angrily in his direction after he escaped. "MmKay, 'Sroy!! Bring me some, too, please~" she called after him, continuing with her fidgeting and her math.
She was actually able to figure out how the threes would work, given how the twos had. By that point, her wing was making notches in the desk that would make it so she could keep track of both the number she was multiplying by and the product. Not a single part of her had expected that the razor-edged wing would slip. She never thought that shock could make pain go away as completely as it did when she stared at her left hand, now lacking in both a middle and a ring finger. Her heart pounded in her chest as she got shakily to her feet, tears already pouring down her face when she wrapped her hand in a blanket, outfit already stained with blood, and wobbled down the hall to where her friend had run off to.
"F-F-F-Fitzr-r-roy...?"

Fitzroy had just finished melting cheese over chips, bacon, a few napkins, a piece of cake, and a pile of pennies when Adelle came down the stairs. Oblivious at first, he smiled widely at his friend, offering the, ahem, 'nachos.' "Hi, 'Delle! Does you need hel-"
Once he spotted the blood seeping through the blanket and the terrified and pained expression on his friend's face, Fitzroy's cheery demeanor quickly evaporated, replaced with total fear. He had never seen that much blood before in his life, and now it was all pouring out of his bestest friend in the whole world, and what if she ran out before she got help, and how would he get help, and, and...? The questions ran frantically around his mind as he gaped, finally forcing his voicebox to shout the one thing that made sense.
"DAAAAAAAADY!!"
As he waited for his father to come from his room, the terrified toddler hesitantly peeled back the blanket, gasping in perfect horror at the sight of Adelle's mangled hand. "Oh my gosh... 'Delle, w-w-w-w-what happened...?" He stepped back a bit, covering his mouth as tears began to fall down his face, unable to stop from wondering if this happened because he needed nachos.

Finally and unfortunately, the pain started breaking through the barrier of shock and Adelle's silent crying turned into quiet, pained sobs, clutching her wounded hand to her chest has her entire body shook, brown eyes looking to her friend pathetically, as though asking him to somehow help her make the pain go away. But that, of course, was not going to work.
"I di- I diden- I diden m-m-m-mean to!" she blubbered, the two small tentacles attached to her sides stroking her back and sides and stomach as best as they could, trying to comfort her or help calm her down. "I w-w-was- and th-th-the-the wings- I'm s-so sorry I messied up yo-our bl-blank-ket, Fitzyroy!!" And with that, she dissolved into tears, falling to her knees and hunching over, wounded hand held tightly as she sobbed, absolutely terrified as her head started to get fuzzy and not-quite-clear, not quite knowing how much blood it would take to kill somebody. All she knew was that she was losing a lot of it.

The sight of Adelle crying finally broke through whatever self-control Fitzroy had, and he too started crying in short, terrified sobs, going over to wrap his arms gently around his friend. He would have hugged her harder, but he was afraid he'd squeeze all the blood out of her and she'd deflate or something equally terrible. Stroking her hair gently, he tried to calm her down, attempting to talk as calmly as possible.
"Shh, s-s-s-s-shh, sh-sh-shh, 'D-D-Delle... It- It'll b-b-b-be okay, I pw-pw-pwo-omise... D-Don't worry about m-m-m-m-my blank-ket..." It was at this point that the boy completely dissolved into tears, convinced that his Adelle was going to lose all of her blood and die.
Caspian rushed from his room to the kitchen at the sound of the shriek, fearing burglars or kidnappers or God know what else, and was slightly confused to see simply Fitzroy and Adelle there. "Fitzroy? What..." He trailed off as his eyes caught sight of the bloody blanket around Adelle's hand. Breathing shakily, he allowed himself a moment of panic before taking a deep breath and smiling reassuringly at the two children, kneeling down and wrapping his arms around them. "Okay. Okay, it's going to be okay, you two, I promise. Fitzroy, go get Adelle's stuff, please. Adelle, I'm gonna drive you to the hospital, okay? I'll call your mommy so she'll know where you are. Let's get ready to go, okay?"
Gently but firmly, he stood the pair up and nudged Fitzroy, who was still clinging to Adelle, back up to his room, taking over his job of comforting Adelle until the boy was back. In a few short minutes, the three were on their way, Caspian taking all of the short-cuts he knew and calling Adhara, Fitzroy leaning against Adelle and clinging to her arm, crying quietly.

By the time the trio reached the hospital, Adelle was honestly relying on Fitzroy to keep herself upright, dizzy with blood loss and having trouble even keeping herself balanced. She was too tired to cling to her arm or even feel the pain that was supposedly shooting up from her fingers, or lackthereof.
She was taken into the emergency room in a wheelchair and ended up losing consciousness somewhere between Fitzroy and stitches, not waking up for a while, at which point she found her mama sitting beside her and gave her a tired, doped-up smile. The little girl could tell that there were other people in the room, but she was too tired and dizzy to want to sit up and figure out who all they were, instead smiling up at her mama weakly.
"Shorry, mama... dinn'd mean to," she slurred, painkillers a little too much for her body to handle. Adhara, simply happy for her baby to be alright, hugged the girl tightly to her chest, pressing a firm kiss to her forehead.
"Don't worry about it, baby, we all have accidents sometimes. I know you didn't mean to." Even the woman's tentacles were doing their best to pet and stroke at the little girl, though Sutry was affected enough by the drugs that he merely batted at Niita, not seeming to really care; as long as he was hitting things, he was doing it right.
"Where'shRoy?"

Fitzroy had been sent to go and buy as much food as he wanted with five dollars that Caspian had given him, and was dallying in front of the vending machine a few feet down from Adelle's room, tears still coursing down his cheeks as he looked between the options. He knew that his daddy had sent him to do this to try and calm him down, but he just couldn't; he had been convinced that Adelle had died when she'd passed out after getting to the hospital, and it took fifteen minutes of steady reassuring to get him to calm down. Even now, he was trembling and nervous.
However, when he heard Caspian call to him that Adelle was awake, he darted back to her side quicker than he would have thought possible, a relieved smile shining through the tears as he looked at his poor friend. "H-h-h-hi, 'Delle. Are you f-feeling bettew...?"

In the short time it took for news to travel, Adelle had her mother prop her bed up and give her and Fitzroy 'a moment alone', because she was 'growing up now and needed her private talks', which was simply too adorable for Adhara to not give in to. And so, the woman went to sit with Caspian and casually converse about the strange interests that the brunette held, not that she minded in the least.
Gesturing for Fitzroy to take the chair that her mother had left open, she took hold of one of his hands and nuzzled into it gently, a giddy smile on her face. "Mmhmms, ish bettur," she replied, giggling a bit. "Gotsh meddicashuns in me."
