"AAAAARGH."

Janice growled in the mornings with the same kind of frequency most sane people handled their yawns with. As her footsteps clanged down the stairs of the dorm hall, she was also snarling without pause, and wasn't going to stop until she found an empty kitchen so she could get some goddamned breakfast without a bunch of other goddamned students getting in her goddamned way.

God. She was starving.

At least the second floor kitchen was looking promising as far as a general lack of human traffic was concerned. With another, but notably more subdued growl, she started pawing through the refrigerator in search of something that would constitute a good morning meal.

Vera had heard the semi-human snarling long before the creature making the noise had forced itself into view. She'd been hunting around for something, anything to eat in the kitchen, peering cautiously over the fridge door once she thought whatever sounded as though it was dying was in the room with her.

Oh. It appeared as though Janice was just as much of a morning person as Vera herself was - that is to say, not at all. Pulling out the carton of eggs, the girl made sure to make slightly more noise than normal, in the hopes that Janice wouldn't consider her prey would realize that someone else was in here with her. Hmmm~There was also some ham and cheese in there, and an omelette was sounding very good right about now.

The sound of molded paper pulp hitting the counter and the eggs shuffling within caught Janice's attention, and she turned around, looking ready to tear the face off of anyone who had come in and interrupted her. Just like in her dream. That would be so satisfying.

When she noticed it was Vera, though, she calmed down as much as someone like her could in such a state, and after regarding the eggs, exchanged a look with her acquaintance. Wordlessly, she reached into the fridge and produced ham, cheese, and a couple of peppers and tomatoes.

An omelette did indeed sound good right about now. Two omelettes sounded better. Three...

Three would be perfect. Vera went rummaging about in the cabinets once the eggs had been kind of checked over. They'd need a frying pan for this, and preferably a large one. The only one she could find, however, was large enough for one omelette at a time. With a frown, she turned the oven on, placing the pan on the counter while she waited for the burner to warm up.

It would probably be best to let Janice make her omelette first, all things considered. With a glance, and a nod to the still warming up pan, Vera moved away to let the other girl have at it.

Janice made no hesitation when Vera stepped away and gave the wordless go-ahead-- she all but attacked the skillet and counter nearby, taking out her irritation and impatience on chopping up tomatoes, onions, and peppers, very loudly. By the time she'd turned her to attention to the actual eggs, the wood of the cutting board practically couldn't be seen under the thick layer of clumsily-cubed veggies.

Soon enough (but probably not a moment too soon for the kitchen's two ravenous patrons), a well-formed omelette was lifted out of the skillet, and Janice was even considerate enough to cut it in half so they'd both have something to tie them over while they watched the next one cook.

Vera had attempted to find another frying pan, but found herself entirely too distracted by the smell of the omelette cooking. So she found herself trying very hard not to hover over Janice as she cooked. When the other girl had finished, Vera almost didn't notice that she'd split the first product of their culinary adventure. Absently nodding her thanks, Vera started to prepare the next one.

After combining the ingredients, Vera started in on the half of the previous one in earnest, finishing it up long before the next was ready. As soon as it was done, Vera lifted it out and cut this one in half as well. There were certainly enough eggs for a few more omelettes, if either girl was inclined to eat more.

Janice took no pause or shame in chasing down her half of the first omelette: she had neglected to pull out a fork for herself, but her fingers worked just as fine. She kept chewing on her fingertips, desperate for the taste of more food, as she watched the second cook. Her hand would dart over to the cutting board and steal bits of tomato, tossing them into her mouth like popcorn.

After exchanging a nod with the other girl, she started the pan on a third, eating with one hand and cooking with the other. It felt like the second one was just an appetizer to tie them over for the third one, and the third one... well... three between the two of them just wasn't enough. They needed more.
