STATUS: Avaliable for classes and tutoring sessions (REALLY!)
This classroom is styled heavily after an auditorium. There are rows of benches and desks that cascade downwards, almost like bleachers. There are stairs on each side of the rows, and one that climbs up the center of the room, dividing the long benches in half. Those are the only entrances and exits, making it difficult for those seated in the middle of a bench to leave, especially if there are others next to them. As such, most students sit near the end of a row wherever possible.
At the front of the room is a large platform raised a few inches off the floor. It is wooden, and varnished in a dark, boring color. There is a wooden lectern off to one side in a prominent position, which is always loaded down with notes and at least one thick book. The other side of the platform is home to a table, also made of wood and with thick legs, which is usually covered with a silky purple cloth. This table is home to magickal paraphrenalia of all kinds, including, but not limited to: a multitude of vials and jars containing mysterious ingredients, charts and diagrams, several crystals, a magic wand, a mortar and pestle, a small pewter bowl, a black-handled knife, and a large bell. In the place of honor on the table is an enormous book bound in black leather, with a gold pentacle stamped on the cover. It is coupled with a silver and jewel inkwell, and never seen open.
The very center of the platform is marked with a similar symbol, painted in dark red. The outline of the five pointed star is encased in a circrcular band, which is a good three inches wide and contains more symbols along its length, most of which are unreadable. It is rare that the teacher will cross to this section of the platform, and since the paint blends well with the natural color of the floor, many students forget it is even there, or that it might have a special meaning.
There are windows along one side of the room, usually covered by thick black curtains. The only light comes from the standard utilitarian classroom lights, many of which are burning out. The room often has a flickering look which may not be appropriate for taking notes, but does give an eerily appropriate ambiance. Other than the main classroom entrance the room has two doors, one at either end of the front wall. The one on the right, nearer the classroom entrance, leads into what may be a science laboratory. The other is always kept locked.
A blackboard runs across the entire length of the front wall, framed by the doors, and there is a seemingly never-ending supply of chalk along the bottom. The contents differ day to day- usually there is a list of vocabulary words, a schedule, and a recap of the day's lesson. However, there is one phrase painted on in silver ink, for every student to see:
"It takes a strong mind and a strong heart to master the spells required of a dragon's partner. Do you have what it takes?
You will."

Classroom Protocol
Each student will be assigned a seat, which will be theirs and theirs alone for the duration of the cycle. Exchanging of seats by students without teacher approval is not permitted. Seats may be changed without warning at the discretion of the teacher.
There will be few in-class lectures scheduled. Students are expected to arrive on time and prepared for the day's lesson. All students require a notebook and writing implements. Any other required materials will be discussed during the class before they will be needed. Lateness is NOT tolerated.
During the classes, students are expected to be attentive and quiet. There will be absolutely no talking with other classmates, unless directed by the teacher, nor will there be any physical activity. Students will remain seated unless they are given permission by the teacher to leave their seat. Bathroom breaks are rarely permitted.
Homework assignments will be given at the end of each class. Each assignment will cover material discussed in that day's class, and will be due on the date of the next class. All assignments must be completed on time. There are no exceptions.
In the cases of illness or family emergency, notes must be provided by both a guardian and a physician. Students are responsible for all material covered in the classes missed, as well as completing the homework on time. Extensions will only be granted in the case of severe illness or injury that would impede a student's progress. Any student who misses a class without an excuse will be penalized.
Parent-teacher conferences occur once per cycle on a regular basis. All parents must schedule an appointment, and bring their child along so they may all discuss the child's progress. In the case of a distruptive student, an unscheduled conference may occur to help rectify the situation.
If a child is in danger of falling behind, tutoring sessions may be scheduled at the teacher's discretion. Guardians are asked to carefully monitor their child's progress, and schedule extra tutoring if necessary.
Any and all infractions of these rules are punishable by detention, extra lessons, writing lines, or other tasks to be decided by the teacher. In the case that the teacher is extremely vexed, the child might be sent to the battle instructor for further disciplining.
All rules are subject to change at discretion of the teacher.

The only way to reach the laboratory if through the main classroom. The door leads to the back of the lab, since another wall of chalkboard at the opposite wall marks the front. The walls in this room are also white, but the lighting is somewhat better, and the style somewhat more modern. There are seven double rows of long counters, each topped with shiny black laquer. There are electrical outlets on the sides of the counters nearest the center aisle, and cabinets inside each, holding various magical materials. The sides of the cabinets slide open and shut easily, however locks are provided for students who wish to keep personal equipment inside. An aisle divides the room in half, making it feel very much like the adjacent classroom.
At the front by the chalkboard is yet another counter, bringing the grand total to fifteen. This one is twice as long as the others, decked out with several test tubes, rocks of varying sizes and colors, a bunsen burner, a stout black cauldron, and a few bunches of plantlife. Most of these materials can be found in the student's own cabinets, among others. At the far right end of the counter is a glass terrarium with a flat rock, some leaves and grass, and a bright red lizard. A similar container is at the opposite end of the counter, holding water, rocks, and a snake-like creature with fins protruding from its slender body. Both habitats bear the same warning: "Do not feed, unless you wish to become the meal."
There is a roster situated at the front of the teacher's counter, listing lab partners and classroom chores. It is written on a whiteboard, with a green dry-erase marker clipped to it for easy use, and to tempt students to try tampering with the list. Any who are caught doing so are usually punished by cleaning the laboratory, in addition to whatever normal punishment the teacher would dole out.
Several metal cabinets holding yet more materials, these public, line the back of the wall by the door. Posters on the other two walls depict exotic ingredients, complicated potion formulas, and involved rituals. A few of them bear the instructor's insignia, as she helped create them.
At the very front of the room is a perch which is more often than not unattended. There are no clues for what might have perched there once, save for very deep clawmarks that decorate the natural-looking post.
The laboratory is locked at all times, except when class is in session.

Laboratory Protocol
The laboratory is used for practical lessons in spellcasting, potionmaking, ritualistic magick, and the study of certain creatures for their magickal properties. All other coursework will be done in the main classroom.
The laboratory is only to be used at the direction of the teacher. It will be locked at all other times. Any student found trying to force an entrance will be severely punished.
At the beginning of a cycle, each student will be assigned a lab partner. Partners may not be chosen by the students themselves, and appointments are not negotiable. If a pair is found to be distruptive to the class, they will be separated by the teacher.
Each pair will be assigned a laboratory counter for their use during the course cycle. Students are permitted to keep personal equipment in the cabinets below the counters during the cycle. Locks will be provided for students wishing to use them.
Homework in the more practical area of magick will usually consist of group projects. The laboratory may be used for work on these projects with the consent of the teacher, and the presence of a trusted adult.
Disruptive behavior of any kind during a class is prohibited.
Any laboratory classes missed must be made up with a personal tutoring session, scheduled in advance with the teacher. The absent student's partner must also attend this make-up session.
Students are not permitted to approach the laboratory animals without express permission from the teacher.
Tutoring sessions are avaliable for students who are falling behind in class, or for those who want more challenging coursework. Parents must contact the teacher to schedule tutoring.
Any difficulties relating to magic should be reported to the teacher immediately.

Lesson Plan
This information is OOC for now, going to figure a way to pretty it up soon. biggrin
The first lesson of a given semester will be group RP, and more or less mandatory. It will cover magic basics, and while it will count as part of the five spells, it is mostly just laying down groundwork. As such, it should not be horribly long, and growing students hopefully won't have to wait for lengthy periods for a new class to start.
After this, classes for preteens will probably consist of small lessons (at least two in a group, since Raven doesn't like to waste her time XD) and homework. The homework will generally be writing short essays and/or answering simple worksheets, thought this is still being worked out.
I am still debating whether to allow preteens into the laboratory, or save it for teens. Most likely going to go with the latter.
Feel free to send any feedback to DS. biggrin This will SO be edited.

Assignments
Homework is expected to be completed and handed in before the next class. There are absolutely no exceptions. Failure to complete assignments will severly affect a student's grade. Extensions are only granted in extenuating circumstances. All late homework will be marked down at a rate of 10% per day. For example, if an assignment is three days late, it will only recieve 70% of its original grade. Assignments may be sent in to the teacher, or kept in a student's notebook to be checked at the beginning of the next class. Any concerns should be discussed with the teacher well before the due date.
[OOC translation: Students are expected to do their homework. I try not to make it tough- it shouldn't take more than ten or fifteen minutes per assignment. If you don't want to do it, that's your choice, but note that it will affect your child's grade. ^^; If there are circumstances involving this that you'd like to discuss, PM Raven and we'll work something out. If your child attends another class without having done the homework for the previous one, it will be considered late. Also, homework can either be PMed to Raven (not DS!) or posted in the journal- I will be checking! Feel free to PM Raven with any questions/concerns.]
Spellcasting 101: Regarding the three necessary elements of magic: Choose a potential spell (something you'd want to cast a spell for) and describe how each necessary element of casting that spell might work. Also, write which element you believe would be best at, and why.

 OOC Information
Firstly and foremostly, Raven did not come to D-Corp to make friends. She is not particularly nice, either to students or teachers. In fact, she can be downright condescending, conceited, and hurtful. Please don't be offended by these IC actions OOCly- I am (thankfully) not Raven, and mean no harm by them.
Raven is a very strict teacher, and expects obedience from her students. If she doesn't get it, she is prone to punishing them. However, please don't let this influence your child's behavior. If they're prone to acting up, let them do it. I promise, you'll get your kid back in one piece (mostly).
Please don't post here. Knowing Raven she'll want to expand (more rules onoes!) and I'd like to have as much of a frontpage as possible. This thread is for informational purposes only.
That said, it would not be a bad idea to check this thread periodically, especially if your child is a student of Raven's. It'll be updated with homework assignments, progress reports, and other pertinent information, so stay tuned.
If you have any questions, or wish to snag some RP with Raven, feel free to PM. However I reccomend you PM me on my main account, DivineSaturn, as Raven only gets attention a few times a month.
Don't feed Kyrie. She is incredibly picky and if you try to give her something she doesn't like, you'll be lucky if she just ignores you. XD;
Hopefully there should be no reason to have this here, but just in case, Raven Millner, and Kyrie, are both property of DivineSaturn, and the art in this post was done by the wonderfully talented Arafel. So no stealing or asking to buy (though I can't see why anyone would WANT Raven o_O) or anything like that. But this shouldn't be necessary, since we're all good little kids here!
Thanks to Noyama for the idea of having a post like this. ^_^
