To say that Magellan wasn't still haunted by what had happened last time she'd engaged in battle would be a lie. She wouldn't forget - ever - that things didn't always go as planned. She knew, on a logical level, that the good guys couldn't always win, plans would fail, and sometimes, evil would triumph. Knowing that and experiencing it firsthand were two very different things, however.

Arms wrapped around herself, she stopped at the edge of a street, looking around. It was quiet that night, but that didn't necessarily mean anything. In her experience (and boy, was she getting some experience with youma) they could appear out of no where. She had to be prepared for anything.

She also had to put the battle against the Negaverse agent out of her mind. The last thing she needed was to be stuck in the past when there were very real dangers in the present.

A sound to her right caught her attention. It was subtle, but she'd become so hyper aware of her surroundings that any disturbance in the usual stillness of the night caught her attention - and this didn't sound like any youma. No, it sounded like footsteps. Fisting one hand at her hip, she pointed in the direction it had come from, taking a deep breath.

When she spoke, her voice was loud and clear. "Hey! You! What are you doing?"

-Polaris hadn't expected to be bothered as she cruised through the town on patrol, walking so fast she was almost jogging. She'd paused, pivoting in her spot towards the voice. Had it been calling her? She supposed it could be calling to anyone?

And if it WAS calling to her.. well she could only hope it wasn't a negacreep or worse a police officer... Negaverses she could atleast attack while she ran. Doing that kind of thing to the police... well.. that was less than 'champion of justice' now wasn't it?

Polaris bit her lip, deciding she'd been waiting or rather thinking for far too long. It couldn't hurt to peek. And so peek she did, glancing around the edge of the alleyway, flabergasted but nonetheless pleased at what she saw.

To think she'd almost just ran by and missed EXACTLY what she had been looking for. There was a 'slight' chance the girl with an overly frilly girly fetish. But seriously, that looked like a fuku. Aka, an ally.

Stepping out from the alleyway, so that the light from the dim light covered her, she piped up her flashy greeting, reaching out her hand in a pose that could quite easily be regarded as ridiculous.- "Guiding the lost with my supreme glow, I'm Sailor Polaris. Champion of justice."

-She smiled, staring, obviously waiting for the other girl to introduce herself.-

Magellan's first thought was, Oh, good.

Emerging from the shadows was a girl who seemed to be around her own age, dressed very similarly. At least it wasn't another creep from the Negaverse. Though Magellan certainly wouldn't have run away from the prospect of a fight, she was a little bit sore, and she certainly didn't want to go into battle against a psychopathic murderer at anything less than her top shape.

If she'd really been committed to that idea, however, she would've stayed home. Logic like that didn't do much for her pride, though, and so she found herself out.

The set of her shoulders relaxed, the arm she'd raised to point lowering to her side in a careless gesture. She tipped her head, smiling, and listened to the girl's introduction.

Well. She hadn't prepared anything like that. But, she could at least introduce herself.

"I'm Sailor Magellan!" Her smile spread into a grin, and she shifted her weight from foot to foot. "Nice to meet an ally in the eternal struggle against injustice."

There. That was all right.

-Polaris inspected the other scout, politely, but obviously as she spoke, nodding in acceptance and agreement when she'd finished speaking.-

"Always. I've been told it'd be in our best interest to ban together."

-Shortening the distance between the two with a few long steps, the tanned senshi's mind ran for a brief moment. It certainly would do them no good gossiping all night, and obviously the other girl was out patrolling too, so 'what she was doing' was a dumb question. Perhaps something a bit more helpful? She paused when there was still a few steps left between the two.-

"Have you met any others Magellan?"

"I'm working on setting up a senshi network of some sort, you know? That way we can get ahold of each other when need be and all work together." -It was a good idea, and an exceptionally useful one too. She just.. hadn't worked out the details yet. But hey, it was getting there.-

As Polaris approached, Magellan did the only thing that made sense. She extended her hand, gripping the other senshi's and shaking it in a friendly sort of way as she did. They were allies, right? So it only made sense to try to get along. Lord knew she could stand to know a senshi or two that didn't make her want to rip her hair out at the roots.

She didn't know about the whole working together thing, as she tended to do better on her own, but given her track record with youma and Negaverse... maybe it would be good in the long run. She didn't like it, but maybe it would be for the best.

"Good to meet you. And, I've met a few." Her expression clouded, showing distaste. "None really worth mentioning. Banding together could be a good idea, but definitely not all the time. We'll draw way too much attention to ourselves."

She already had to deal with running from cops on a weekly basis... she didn't need to be doing that in groups. Then they'd start sending bigger patrols out after them, and things would get really messy. Ugh, no way they needed that on their plates.

Magellan knew she certainly didn't.

-She hadn't expected the handshake, but she certainly didn't mind it, moving her own hand as to not seem like a limp fish when the other senshi grabbed her.

As her expression changed, Polaris watched curiously, wondering at the dismissal of others. But then.. perhaps if she thought too long about Thuban.. she'd have dismissed him as helpful too. But that was not leader talk. Not the talk of someone trying to draw everyone together. Sometimes you had to 'deal' with some people more than others.. but certainly everyone had a talent worth using.-

"Well of course not, we'd look like a silly parade if we all gathered. I take it there is easily a dozen of us? Perhaps more."

"It's dangerous to be alone though, so why don't I join you for tonight. Two pairs of eyes and ears are definately better than one." -She grinned, inviting herself.-

Magellan shook her head slightly, dismissing her thoughts on the senshi she'd met so far. She hadn't exactly had good experiences with most of them, but that didn't mean anything. So far, things seemed to be going fine with Polaris. Her eyebrows drew together briefly at the mention of working together, but she held her tongue on the subject.

Magellan didn't want to work with someone else. She wanted to do this on her own. Isolating the other senshi at this point would be stupid, though. She'd just have to make sure that if they found anything, she was the first one to attack. Possibly give Polaris directions, so even if the other girl did damage, it would feel more like her victory. Yeah, that would be how it would play out... if they even found a youma.

Nodding, she smiled, all traces of bad temper gone from her face. "Sure, you can join up with me. I was just looking for something to use as a weapon."

She glanced around, gaze falling on a flag used for display outside of a shop. It was vandalism, but she didn't have a weapon handy, and she was planning on bringing it back. She walked over, gently unscrewed the flag from its place, and held it up, testing its weight.

Not exactly youma clubbing material, but it would have to do. Hopefully it wouldn't break.

Looking back to Polaris, she explained, "I'm going to bring this back. I just don't have anything at home that I could use effectively, so I have to improvise until I can find a way to hide some weapon under my bed. Ready?"

-Ohhhh, so she was one of those sorts? Without an attack that actually attacked. The ivory haired senshi supposed that they needed some supportive powers really. That it would make it alot easier when they were teamed. But still... she felt bad. If she were that unlucky.. ughhh.-

"I suppose 'those' kind of powers are a subtle hint we're supposed to be working in pairs" -She smiled as she waited, not really realizing how incredibly rude her comment was.-

"It's good thinking to go prepared." -She added lightly, when it seemed the other girl was finally ready. Atleast her stick was a little less silly then Thuban's walker had been.-

Eyebrows arching, Magellan appraised the other girl a moment, expression cooling. "Those" kind of powers? So, this senshi obviously had an attack based power. The jealousy was swift, but she fought to keep it out of her face - though she only succeeded for the most part. She couldn't help the frown that quickly furrowed her brow, nor could she keep the bite out of her voice as she spoke.

"I'm doing just fine on my own. You're welcome to tag along with me if you like, but I don't need the help." Not entirely true, but she was so tired of needing help. And she didn't like being reminded that it was in her best interests to pair up.

She'd already come to that conclusion... at least for now. She was going to work hard, get stronger, and find a way to do things herself, thank you very much.

Forcing herself to smile, though it looked more like a grimace than anything, she added, "I'm going to start patrolling. Come on, if you want."

With that, she turned, chin high as she began her march.

Really. So condescending, just because the luck of the draw had given her some attack based power.

"We ALL need help sometimes" -She insisted matter of factly, recalling the exceptionally nasty and sturdy youma that her, Walkure, and Thuban had fought, and her little jaunt with Lt Serandite. It was just smart. Believing you were invincible was just stupid. Not matter how good you thought you were at anything, there was always someone out there who was better.- "Best to be prepared"

"But I get it, you can take care of yourself" -A consoliation, a bandaid, she hoped. It'd do neither of them good if the other girl ran off. Following suit, Polaris began to follow, before attempting to match the other girl's pace and stay at her side... definately not behind. Her eyes gazed in alleyways as they passed, looking for trouble.-

A little bit mollified, Magellan relaxed her pace, hands still gripping the flagpole in a secure, confident manner. It wasn't the best weapon in the world, but she would make due. For all she knew, they wouldn't even run into any youma, and the night would end peacefully. While that would be good, on one hand, she was actually hoping for a bit of a fight. There was the benefit of getting a youma off the streets, yeah, but if she was going to be perfectly honest with herself, she felt like she had something to prove.

Lately, it seemed like she always felt like she had something to prove.

Brow furrowing at the thought, she glanced into an alleyway, her shoulders tensing at the sight of a shadow. After a moment, a cat streaked out, flying past them and disappearing into the shadows.

"Just a cat," she mused, continuing on. In the back of her mind, something seemed... wrong, though. Why would an alley cat burst into the open without being provoked?

Unless..

Eyes widening, she wheeled around, flag pole raised. She was just in time to see the youma bullet out of the alley, claws raised, before it flew into her, slamming into her chest and sending her flying back.

Her first thought was, Of ******** course because - as always - Magellan was the first one to get her a** thrown to the ground in a fight.

"Soo.. I don't suppose you go to Crystal Academy do you?" -It wasn't particularly subtle.. and Polaris was still a little weary about letting out her identity to just anyone. But she also was tired of her plans not going as well as planned. She'd promised Charys and Astraea to take care of the Academy girls. And though she knew the identities of a couple.. little more then that had occurred, her mission dangling precariously incomplete.

There wasn't time for an answer anyway.

Polaris had briefly looked, and then disreguarded the shadow as Magellan proclaimed it a cat. Until of course her partner went flying, causing Polaris to jump in surprise, eyes shifting wildly to try to find the beast again as she planted her feet.- "You okay!?"

-There it was... It seemed smaller than the others she'd fought, but obviously quite a bit faster. Which was trouble with a capital T if she planned on any silly moves like chucking stuff at it. It bristled and growled, turning it's attention on the standing senshi, and it lunged at Polaris as she tried to hop back with each lunge. She kicked her foot out towards it each time, but it looked more silly than intimidating upon failing to connect each time. Like some housewife trying to shoe away a stray dog.-

Legs sprawled before her in a very unelegant mess, Magellan scowled across the pavement, biting back a moan as she shifted and attempted to stand. Though the youma was a bit on the small side, it was fast and had apparently gained momentum, because it had easily knocked her to the ground. It had the element of surprise, of course, but the pain in her backside let her know quite decisively that, even if she'd been completely prepared, she'd probably have stumbled at the very least.

Knowing this did not improve her mood any, nor did it calm her temper.

Gripping the flagpole like it was a broadsword, she leapt up, barely managing to avoid rolling her eyes as the other senshi reacted like, well, a girl. Honestly, did she think shooing at a youma like it was a housecat was going to get her anywhere? Frankly, she was lucky the thing wasn't chomping on her ankle.

Magellan didn't plan to let it get that far. If there was one good thing that could be said about Polaris' stunt (and she was pretty sure there was only the one good thing) it was that she had the youma distracted.

Lowering the flagpole, she brought it down on top of the youma with a loud, sickening crack. The beast spasmed, legs scratching against the pavement as it writhed, before it darted between Polaris' legs, considerably slower.

Well, she'd at least managed to slow it down. A satsified smirk on her face, Magellan quipped, "A little more useful than kicking at it, anyway."

Her triumph was short-lived, however. What Magellan failed to notice while she was gloating was that, behind her, there was a larger youma, apparently hunting - with or for, it was difficult to say - the other youma.

By the time the hairs stood up on the back of her neck, she was barely able to dodge what would have likely been a crippling blow; instead, she got knuckles straight to the back, which felt something like she imagined being punched by The Incredible Hulk might feel like.

Flinging her arms out before her, flagpole forgotten, she rolled, gravel biting into her arms as she hit the ground, hard.

Of course.

-Hey! She'd been helping. Even if she hadn't connected yet, she would have eventually, and it'd kept the little monster from getting to the other senshi in her vunerable position. Polaris browns furrowed mildly, frown touching her features before she turned to watch the little on scurry behind her.- "I was keeping it from eating off your face! A little gratitude instead of attitude."

-She fought the urge to stick her tongue out at the other girl, attempting to reign in some aire of dignity. And she was glad she did as she turned just in time to watch the poor girl get hit AGAIN.

Why were their TWO youma? Was the one before a baby? Did youma even HAVE babies? Abandoning the line of reasoning, Polaris did the only thing she could think of, planting her feet.- "Magentic..."

-The monster's clawed hand, slammed upwards against the senshi, sending her hurtling into the air.- "F..fieeeeeeld!" -The last word was mingled with a drawn out scream of pain and surprise, but that didn't seem to matter much. Around her she could her the soft shiver of metal beginning to sound against the pavement. Soon enough they'd be off the ground, careening into the beast like he was a giant monsterous magnet.

She crashed against the ground a few feet away, gritting her teeth as she tried to roll over to her knees. She hadn't really checked.. to see what kind of projectile had been in the area, but at the very least there was that flagpole.. hopefully there would be more.-

Magellan had hit the ground, hard, and her knees were aching from the impact. A quick glance showed them both to be skinned up and bleeding, and she grit her teeth against the pain, unable to help the tears that gathered at the corners of her eyes. Magical school girl she might have been, but she still had the tender flesh of a fifteen year-old girl, and it seemed like she was reminded nightly of just how fragile she was.

Irritating. Infuriating, even. And oh, she really wished that for once, just for once, she could win.

Scrambling to her feet, ignoring the burning in her palms and knees, she looked around wildly. From what she could see, the tiny youma had disappeared, and all that was left was the larger one. It wasn't too big, though its fists were grossly disproportionate to the rest of its body, and she knew it packed a hell of a punch. She could still feel the echoes of the glancing blow, and as she forced herself to remain upright, she wondered just how long she could keep the fight up.

It didn't seem like she had much of a choice except to keep going, though. There was no way she could leave the other senshi to her own devices, as she'd already proven she couldn't handle much of a fight (kicking at a youma, really), and that didn't sit well with her anyway. She was a good guy, and that meant she fought the bad guys until they were destroyed, and everyone went home safely.

Even if everyone went home black and blue.

Gritting her teeth, she reached for the discarded flagpole, only to be dumbfounded as it was yanked free from her hands. What the --

She didn't have time to wonder, though. Without a weapon, she was toast. Stepping backward quickly, hands up in front of her, bunched into fists, her gaze continually darted from the youma to -- well, everywhere else, really.

All around her, little scraps of metal began to rise, hovering the air for a moment before they shot toward the youma. She was impressed, and for a moment, her eyes went wide, uncomprehending. Behind her, she heard Polaris stir, and it clicked.

Polaris. That had been her attack.

Suddenly filled with a horrible, indescribable jealousy, she clenched her fists tighter, spinning toward the other senshi. Her left leg gave out, and she stumble, falling into a kneeling position as she did.

Not a good position to be in, really, when there was still a youma to be dusted.

Given the screeching sounds behind her, though, she figured there wasn't much left to do. Sailor Polaris had taken care of that, with her attack that was actually an attack, right?

So she didn't need to check on her. The other girl would be fine.

Pushing off the ground, standing on unsteady legs, she reached for the closet thing that resembled a weapon. It was a branch, which was not the most elegant choice around, but it would do the trick.

Then, while Polaris was still down, she rushed forward, taking advantage of the youma's distraction with the attack died. As though it was the last thing she would ever do, she began to beat the monster, hoping that Polaris would take the hint and help her finish it off.

Once she, you know, got up again.
