It was another adventure far from his home. What else was new? While he found his heart lonely, he couldn't bare the thought of staying in one place for an extended amount of time. His favorite girl was sitting at his den, lovingly waiting for his return. The consolation was that she had ten little images of him to remind her every day that he was always there, if only in spirit. Ah, little cubs.....his eldest should be reaching adolescence soon, and the thought of that scared him to pieces. He never wanted his cubs to turn out like he did, frolicking around with females nightly.
His orange eyes raised from staring at the ground, lost in thought. He wanted something other then a one-night-stand, but no romantically. If he really dug deep, his only friend was a lion that wasn't charging at him. Everyone else either loved him for a night, then let him go, or tried to maul him on the spot. Quite a predicament. It was all right, though. He quite enjoyed his life the way it was, even though there were quite a few bumps along the way. He slowly made his way through the grass, heading wherever his nose pointed.

She was on the move again, restlessly her legs had carried her far away and the speed had helped clear her head. Kohana had never stayed in one place long enough to really make a friend or fall in love or even have a family, until Mafu. If it hadn't been love at first sight she might have just kept on running, but something inside her had clicked. Still, love as they say, isn't enough. She had still needed to be free, to run, to be as the wind, uncaged.
Even cubs hadn't kept her still, four beautiful boys and she had wanted to run, not because she didn't love them, but because the only way she could express such love was to run. Yet she always ran right back as well, so that had to count for something. When one of her sons had been kidnapped she felt as if a piece of her heart had been carried away, far away, to a place she could not run to. Even knowing that he was probably alive and full grown out in the world didn't ease the ache of loss. Today she ran for him, for her baby who she hadn't been able to see grow, and because she wondered if now that her boys were full grown, would she run back, for Mafu?

A cool breeze washed over Mauja, and he tilted his head up, taking in the feeling and scent of it all. His eyes flicked around as the scent of another filled his nostrils; he wasn't too concerned about it, though, as it smelled like him- cheetah. It had been a long while since he had last met another cheetah, and he sure wasn't going to let this one pass him by. He whirled around, turning his head in every possible direction to find what he had smelled. He wanted to know that it was real, that the gods weren't fooling him into thinking there was something else out on the savannah.
His eyes were soon drawn to a fast moving object running through the tall grass. It seemed to get larger, and Mauja soon realized it was coming towards him. From that it didn't take long to notice that it was female. Oh Gods. Mauja gulped, dearly hoping he wouldn't screw up something like this. He didn't want to lead on another female, not today. He wanted a friend this time, someone he could simply talk to and have a little fun in the process.

Kohana was really moving to fast to be able to stop, instead she veered and slowed down before turning and walking over to the male curiously. She was still breathing deeply from her run, but she felt alive, so alive. She needed to escape sometimes, this had been one of those times. If she had ever stayed long enough in one spot she might have made some friends, but as it was she only had her mate and her sons. She couldn't even stay put for them, which left her feeling mildly guilty.
She pushed away the guilt though and sat down. "H'llo!" She puffed out before smiling. "Sorry, hello, I'm glad I didn't run into you." She rolled back her shoulders trying to keep herself loose.

Smiling, Mauja took in a few breaths. Okay, breathe now, just take it slow. His conscience kept reminding him of things not to do, not to say. It all seemed rather dull, though. "I'm glad you didn't, either." His mind flicked back to a night a dark lioness had plowed into him; he hadn't shown it that night, but the next day, his muscles felt like they were going to explode. "I don't think I would've enjoyed that too much, lo-" He forced himself to cut off his speech manneurisms, making it so he wouldn't lead on this female. It was hard to change who he was, but he felt, for a situation like this, it was for the best that he censored himself.
"I'm Mauja, sweetheart." He winced, accidentally letting one slip. It sounded right for him to say it, but he knew that the titles meant different things to different creatures, and that it would be best to just not say them, unless he wanted something.
