Of friend of mine burnt me the highlights. I know the basic story of Sweeney but I dont know the musical's plot...does that make sense? Anyway, I love the music! That screeching at the begining freaks me out. Is it also true it's gonna be a movie?

Yes, it was announced that it will be made into a movie. There is a DVD of the original broadway show. You should consider buying it. It's worth it.

Seriously, Sweeney Todd is one of my favorite musicals ever. It's just so well-written and dark, I just love it. xd It would be awesome to play Mrs.Lovett. I was her for Halloween. 3nodding

That's so weird! I was Sweeney this Halloween! I had seen an old film version of the story the night before and thought it was really good. Can someone do a plot outline for the show though! Just so I can understand the highlights!!!

I actually was able to rent the original broadway version on tape from my local library...needless to say it was overdue. sweatdrop I love Sweeney! I saw a production of it awhile back. Ver nicely done. Johanna's voice is just a little scary. Sounds like she's beign strangled. Pretty if you can get past that. I would give you the plot...but the spoilers for those who haven't seen it would be attrocious!

I just downloaded a few ST songs the other day on a whim. I'd never heard the music before, and I haven't stopped listening to the songs since! I've fallen in love with the musical!

Thicket I just downloaded a few ST songs the other day on a whim. I'd never heard the music before, and I haven't stopped listening to the songs since! I've fallen in love with the musical! Just got the soundtrack! The two disk one that costs a fortune...*grumbles* I would recomend it though. Has a lyric book and a lot of dialouge, if not all of it...

Sweeney Todd is pretty much my favorite ever. There's supposed to be a movie musical of Sweeney Todd coming out later this year, but not a lot has been announced about it.

Gelasius I hope it's better than the movie version of Rent. Me, too, but I'm skeptical since Tim Burton is now supposed to be directing it. :/

Tim Burton? That would be interesting. I love his work, but I just don't think he would be the right style for ST. It would ruin it, I think.
I just checked IMDB, it says Sam Mendes is directing. And that's about all it says, aside from a 2006 release.
Anyone know who's gonna play who? It probably won't happen, but I would love to see Angela Lansbury reprise her role as Mrs Lovett. She was fantastic.
