The sun was bright that day, but not too blinding. The perfect light for Shy to bring her sewing outside. Situating herself on the steps of Varekai, she began sorting & placing down various baskets full of needles & thread, yarn & fabric. First on her list: a new pair of tights for Anezka, to replace the ones that were ruined in the river crossing. This was going to be quite a time-consuming task, but the weather was so lovely, spending the day outside would be a joy.
And...if someone happened to pass by and steal away her attention...well...that would be a joy as well. wink

Tsura was bored, after doing a favour for mama and getting her wagon fixed and traipsing around their current stop she'd run out of things to do. The laundry was done, her wagon was clean and lord have mercy but both Gisli and Berit were asleep and not causing havoc. While that was all well and good it left the young woman with nothing to do and idle hands were the devil's playthings. It was thus that Tsura figured she might as well see if she could be of some use to her fellow gypsies or if they could at least be idle together.
The glint of sun on metal needles and the rich colours of the fabrics caught the dark haired woman's attention and she tentatively headed towards the wagon where the item were located. Tsura didn't remember it's name or that of it's owner but she imagined it wouldn't take more than but a few words to find out.

Leshya'e tapped her feet on the steps, keeping time with the song that was in her head. Pausing momentarily, she looked up when she heard what sounded like foot steps coming near her. Putting down her needles, she raised her hand to block the sun, getting a better look at who it may be. She recognized the black haired woman, one of her fellow travelers, but was amiss for her name. It would come to her...hopefully. Lowering her hand and picking up her needles again, she spoke, "Hello there...lovely day, isn't it?"

Tsura nodded " Yes it is, I hope it lasts once our travels begin again." There was nothing worse than traveling for days and feeling like bad weather was following you everywhere you went, not to mention it tended to make horses and oxen uncomfortable and their job even harder. "May I ask what you're making and," ahh well no point in dancing around it. " I seem to have forgotten your name." She'd probbaly heard it on the bonfire night or once or twice since then but well sometimes things took time to stick in her mind.

Leshya'e smiled and nodded, knowing all too well how fickle and irritating weather can get. Gesturing to the needles in her hands, "Making a new, warmer pair of tights for my daughter, Anezka. She tore up a pair of mine while we were crossing the river. Thought she could use another...especially with chill weather on it's way." She sighed slightly, glad that she wasn't the only one who had forgotten a name. "And it's Leshya'e...but you can call me Shy, if that's easier. And...I seem to have forgotten your name as well...Must me a day for lost memories."

" The cold is freezing our brains" Tsura agreed " and I'm Tsura." She didn't hold out her hand for a shake so as to avoid distracting Leshya'e from her work again. " It seems like the river crossing did a right number on a lot of us and our wagons." Next time she was a taking a ferry no matter what the price, it'd be less than paying for damages again.
"So, have you been with the caravan long?" she inquired, Tsura was positive the other woman had joined before her but when was hard to tell.

"It was pretty rough, yes. My Ani was good for suggesting we take that ferry." Deciding to take a break while she spoke to Tsura, Leshya'e put down her needles, stuffing her project into a basket. "Oh my, it seems like a lifetime...years I've been with Valelldia...Well before Ani even took on her animal stage." Shy sighed wistfully, thinking back to all the good times she'd had with the caravan.

Tsura pursed her lips for a moment, hmm, maybe this woman could answer her question then. " Ahh and how long did she stay that way? Is it the same for all of them?" By now she'd gathered what Berit was and what would happen to her but she had no idea about when. If she had even a rough estimate Tsura would know when to start preparing.
Brushing a lock of hair back behind her hear she asked one more question so as not to direct all the attention onto the other woman's child. "It's seems a nice enough caravan so far, have you found it to generally be so?" She wasn't expecting dirty secrets to be spilled but an honest answer about true true atmosphere of the group.

"It was about a year I think...The longest year ever. But trust me, enjoy it now, because you will miss it when they grown and change." Shy sighed sweetly, "I miss having her on my lap and petting her soft fur. She was so sweet and comforting...she still is, but I doubt she'd let me pet her now." She couldn't help but laugh, but stifled it in order to answer Tsura's second question. "Most definitely...I mean, as with all families, there is drama...Lord knows we've had our fair share of action and adventure...But I wouldn't have it any other way."

Ah, well that was something to think about then. For all that Berit was a pain sometimes, it was nice to snuggle her to her chest on occasion and to here her little chirrups and coos throughout the day. To lose those things would be hard especially if the little quail's personality changed when she transformed. Still, a year, well that was a decent amount of time for Tsura to have to get used to the idea, she'd have maybe a bit less than that if they were all the same but still, there was time yet.
" Well then it sounds like I've definitely picked the right caravan to join." true enough all families squabbles from time to time but it was weather or not they made up and carried on that counted As for drama well there'd already been that river rescue and if that hadn't shown the group to be rather special well nothing else would.
Mind at ease now Tsura's posture relaxed fully and she grinned, feeling that sort of youthfull contentedness that comes just from being happy.

"So you'll be staying on then? Good...I like when people stay." Leshya'e smiled brightly at Tsura and then stood up, reaching out an arm in a friendship gesture.

Tsura reached out as well and nodded. "I do believe I've found my home here." Friends a family of her own soon to come and the promise of people to stand by her through good and bad, it was all Tsura had ever needed. she'd had it once as a child and now again as a woman she was finding her place.

"It's such a wonderful thing, isn't it? Finding a place where you truly belong." She nodded, then reached down and grabbed a large, empty water bucket. "If you have the time, would you like to take a stroll with me? I could introduce you to my Ani...I think she's down by the water."

"That sounds good to me and even if she's not there I could use a good walk." Tsura might not be getting plump yet but it never hurt to watch ones figure and if she became too used to never going beyond the borders of the wagons she'd become one of those crotchety old ladies someday who only talked about when they were young.

"Most assuredly...It's always good to stretch ones legs, especially our sort...We may travel a lot, but we don't move very far." Leshya'e chuckled at her lame attempt at a joke. "So, Tsura, tell me more about yourself...if you don't mind sharing, that is."
