Pales went about cleaning everything up about the house. Armel was busy in his room sifting through his own clothes until he found an outfit that felt suitable.

The ram-horned boy fit the shirt over his head, thankful for the stretchy necklines of most shirts. Then Armel pulled on his childrens jeans and a pair of white tennis shoes with black stripes along the sides. The shirt the boy wore was black with white outline of a crown on its front. After making sure he was suitably dressed he joined his father in the main part of the house taking to following after the scurrying man for a moment.

"When'll they get 'ere?" Armel asked after a moment of silence and observation.

"Any minute now," Pales glanced over his shoulder to make sure Armel wore his newer clothes today. The boy had a terrible habit of going back into his first outfit.

"Oh, I'll go wait in the hallway then," Armel then turned on his heel and wandered past the napping form of Albion in an easy chair in the living room. The ram-horned boy couldnt resist but to pester the man first, "'Ey! Gran'da! Look sharp. Comp'ny is comin'!" Armel shouted it causing the old man to start and sit up.

"Wha'!? Oh, right." Albion brushed off the front of his shirt before relaxing back in his seat, "If they want to meet me they can see me as I really am."

"As a lazy oaf?" The boy laughed as he left Albion to glare after him. Armel soon was in the hallway staring up at one of the pictures patiently. He was amazed his Da didnt protest this course of action, but then again his Da had always been cool about such things on and off.

Of course Pales didn't protest. The man knew better than to quell the excitement, and besides Armel didn't know until today that Adonis would be coming over. Pales arranged it secretly over the phone with Nio. Now all that needed to be done was to await for the arrival.

Adonis hadn't said a word the entire trip.

Not. One. Word.

Nio was starting to get fidgety. He'd planned this little get together with Pales in order to try and get Donny out of this little rut he'd stuck himself in, but so far Donny refused to even show excitement at the prospect of seeing his friend. He refused to show -anything-; to Nio, at least. To everyone else he was just normal Donny, or so Nio had heard.

This, of course, was cause for alarm.

"Excited about seeing Armel, Donny?"

Nothing.

"Maybe after we're done, we can go get some ice cream?"

Not even the idea of his favorite treat stirred the boy. He was truly an expert at the cold shoulder.

Nio sighed and knocked on Pales' door, hoping for the best.

Armel was staring at the picture still when the knock came. He didn't seem to register it for a couple of minutes until he realized, that company had arrived, "'Ey there! Jus' a minute!" He spun around and walked the rest of the way to the door as the picture he was looking at was at the midway point in the hallway. He reached up and turned the knob pulling the door open, "Welcome." He greeted the pair, though upon seeing Adonis a brief look of concern crossed his face. Was his friend okay?

Pales had appeared at the start of the hallway and nodded a bit to Nio and Adonis, "Hello the both of you, come on in."

As Pales invited them Armel stepped aside so that the two could actually enter without him blocking the entry. Though Armel tried to look cheerful, a swarm of worry welled up in him quite quickly.

Armel would have nothing to worry about soon enough. As soon as Donny saw his friend, his face lit up with happiness and he hopped inside, wrapping his chubby arms around the other boys neck. "HI ARMEL DONNY CAME TO VISIT~~" He exclaimed, and without so much as another word he tried to drag his friend as far away from Nio as possible.

Nio stood in the doorway, frozen still with shock. What in the world.. the boy had done a complete 360! He supposed the joy of seeing his friend weighed heavily over whatever little grudge he had on his father at the time. This relieved Nio, and he shook his head softly while walking inside. He held out his hand to Pales with a wide grin. "Pales! Good to see you again. How've you been?"

Armel was apparently not too shocked about being essentially glomped by his friend,. Where most would likely part from the boy with bodily harm Adonis would get away unscathed. Armel returned the hug happily glad to see his friend was indeed alright, "Aye! I missed ye," he responded to Adonis joyfully, but found himself unbalanced and then dragged off by Adonis. Maybe something was wrong. He did not seem nearly as favorable with his 'squishie' as he was when they first met, but maybe it was his imagination. Either way Armel went off with Adonis without protest, curious about his friend's behavior and hoping maybe things will be revealed, "Wan' t'go t'my room?"

Pales watched the scene for a moment and stepped aside a little to allow the boys to wander in. He greeted Nio's grin with one of his own and took the other man's hand in a handshake of friendship, "Hello, Nio! I have been reasonably well, how about you?" He released Nio's hand after the shake and greeting, "Let's go sit down?"

"Never been better." Nio answered, his careless smile quickly returning to his face. He moved into the living room with his friend and sat down with him. "Doubt you've heard the news but, Enoh's had the baby. Perfect little boy, named him Aurion." Gushgushgushgush.

"YAY ROOM~" Donny squealed and let Armel go, toddling up to the room as fast as his little legs could carry him. The farther he was from his father, the happier he got. "Donny wants to play!"

By the time Nio came into the living room Albion was gone. However, sitting on a bird's perch was a large, old, and stately looking crow. It stood completely still it's head bowed and obviously napping. A faint glare passed Pales' face when he followed Nio and sat down as well, "Wow, time surely does fly. Aurion, huh? Very nice. Bet he's adorable." He grinned at Nio, and then seemed thoughtful, "Everyone at home adjusting well to having a new baby at home then?"

Armel laughed a bit being sure to direct the boy to the right room, "Me too, what do you want to play, Donny?" He was obviously happy that his friend was cheering up. It made him feel more at ease. For now he'll do whatever his friend wanted, it seemed to be a very wise idea.

"Adorable? I'm glad you asked!" Nio fished into his pocket and pulled out a thick plastic square, which unfurled to reveal that it was actually a long train of pictures in plastic slips connected to one another. The pictures draped across Pales waist, a dozen or so pictures of the baby that to anyone but Nio looked almost identical. He sure was proud of his baby.

"Donny's not adjusting at all. I think he's jealous, but that's to be expected I guess."

"Umm.. play." Donny replied, not really concerned with what in particular they chose to play. "What do you have?"

Smiled good naturedly and looked at the pictures, Pales didn't point out that they all looked identical. The man knew he'd likely behave in a very similar manner if he had progeny of his own blood. "Gonna be a lil' heartbreaker," Pales commented after a moment.

Armel looked around his room thoughtfully for a moment, "We can play ... Fortress with the couch. Just would 'ave to be careful o'the bookshelf."

The ram-horned boy had enough pillows and blankets for a good game of 'Fortress', and if not he knew where to get more: Da's room!

"Yes, it's natural. He seems kind of cold toward you I noticed. At least from when we first met.
" Pales had his observant moments at times. That or he was focusing a lot better lately. The man seemed thoughtful for a moment, "It is kind of hard to share a parent's attention."

Pales couldn't say 'father's attention' as he had never had a father and thus could not speak from true experience. Not even when he was adopted.

Nio grinned at the comment. "Ah, I don't know about that. Not if I teach him right, at least." He started to fold up the pictures once they were done, and nodded faintly. "I would understand that if this was something he did before the baby. You see, we've got over 15 children in the house right now, and all of them get my attention just as Donny and now Aurion will get. As to why this particular addition has him so riled up, well.. I just don't get it." Of course, Nio didn't realize that perhaps he was a little more doting on his own child, but it was understandable.

"Oooh.." Donny coo'd, his eyes widening. This was why Armel was his best friend - he thought up the greatest games to play. "Fortress.. Donny want to play fortress. Donny -have- to play fortress." It was a game he felt would soon grow on him, much like a persistant fungus. "Let's make a fortress! We'll make it real big, and not let anyone in because it's ours!"

Pales chuckled and nodded listening to Nio and looking a bit thoughtful, "Strange that he should act like that indeed. Don't know how many children you have at home that are much younger than Adonis, but I am sure he is having issues understanding what makes the baby so different from him." The man just shrugged and smiled apologetically, "I'm not an expert I can just speculate and hope it helps you a little."

Armel grinned a bit, "Aye! All ours an' no one elses'. Go ahead to the couch and knock off all the cushions. The big bear there will be our lookout-guard, so just set him aside." The ram-horned boy glanced around for a moment, "I'll get the stuff from m'bed an' if we need more stuff we can go gather it t'gether."

To be honest if Adonis hadn't gone for the fortress idea, the Armel would have suggested a nice rousing game of 'omgjumponthebed'. Which may or may not have gotten them a light scolding -- if they were caught.

Jumponthebeduntilitbreaks was one of Donny's favorite games - which meant they would be sure to play it later after they were done with this one.

He hopped up into the air and landed on the top of the couch, rolling overboard and flopping down on the cushions with a squeal. It took him all of a second to burrow underneath the pile of pillows, and after a little rumble, he exploded out of the couch with the pillows flying off in every direction. Of course, they didn't go far, the boy had no strength for such feats. They flopped on the floor below the couch, and Donny flopped on them. He had forgotten to put the bear on guard, and sat up right after he rolled over it. He took it in both arms and lugged it over to the door, setting it carefully where it was half in, half out. Saluting his new lookout, he returned to rolling on the cushions. Fortress, what? He was having too much fun making a total mess of the room to remember his goal.

"Yeah, I guess you're right. Besides, I'm sure he'll grow out of it eventually. Donny's never been the kind of kid to deal with jealousy well, but he's sweet, deep down inside. It's just.. lately the sweetness has been wearing out. I hope it's just a phase." Nio rested back on the couch and stretched his arms out. It felt good to just relax for a while, without worrying about one kid breaking something or another kid crying about something broken. Just a little peace. "So!" He piped up suddenly, giving Pales a side glance. "How are things over here on your side of the pond? Anything new?"

Armel was busy pulling sheets and pillows off of his bed and getting things ready to notice Adonis' antics otherwise he would have been greatly amused. Alas, he always missed the fun things. Though they would soon be having fun together. Armel covered himself in the blankets and carted as many pillows he could over to where Adonis was happily rolling about on the cushions. Armel's face peeked from under the blanket and he laughed a little, "'Ey Donny! Got the rest of the stuff. Think it's enough or do we need it t'be bigger?"

If it needed to be bigger it meant that it would be mission time, which was all a part of playing Fortress.

Pales nodded at Nio and smiled, "Maybe it is just a matter of making him feel important in some way. Like giving him a job or a task only he can do or some such." He shrugged and then the question came up.

He blushed a bit as a small response and shrugged, "Well. Armel apparently gained a grandfather. My mentor has moved in and Armel decided the old man is his gran'da." Pales laughed good naturedly, the crow made a strange sound from his perch.

"And I did some self exploration and have come to terms with many things...Also been getting the house ready for some new additions to my household." He smiled at his friend as he unleashed parts of the news. Nio of course could ask Pales anything for any further in depth information.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 02, 2006 10:52 pm

Donny stopped in mid-roll and stuck his head up to look at the hoarde. "Let's try with that, and if it's not big enough we'll get more!" He wanted to start building his fortress immediately, and would only succumb to a search and gather mission if it was needed. He hopped off the cushions and started pushing them off the floor to stand up and lean against the couch.

Nio hadn't expected a blush when he asked the question, and the response had his interest piqued. A single brow rose, and he watched his friend carefully, listening as he explained the new additions to his household. Wait. New additions..?

Nio bent his head in slightly, eye to eye with Pales. "Pardon me for seeming nosy, but you've got me wondering, and I'm sure that was your intent. What new additions?" He smirked faintly, just a little anxious to hear the news.

He smiled at Nio, oh so many things to tell him but where to start ... The beginning, "Well, there are several things..I am embarrassed and ashamed that as my friend, and because I trust you -- I am to be forthright with you about everything. Nio, let me pose to you this question before I go on... What do you think I am?" Pales stared into Nio's eyes patiently, and all Nio could see was that Pales was human, with black hair that was streaked with red at the brow, and bright green eyes. Pales even behaved humanly, and seemed to have no other mindset that spoke otherwise. Explination of what he was would come with the introduction -- or rather explination of the 'New Additions'.

Armel nodded thoughtfully, "Aye, good then, let's start!" he then set to work helping his friend build the Awesome Fortress of Doom with No Adults Allowed and Just Belongs to Them No One Else! In otherwords: AFoDwNAAaJBtTNOE! In short: AFoD!

So the ram-horned boy helped Adonis build the almighty AFoD, "Aye, this'll be a greatest fortress ever because we built it." Armel commented as he set up a bunch of his blankets at the couch anchoring them there by tucking the sheets behind the wall and pushing the couch closer to the wall closing the gap and thus creating a nice roof.
