A soft click, and Kyou's voice came up.
"Hello, you had reached the Laboratory 305 voice message box. Unfortunately there is no one to answer your call at the moment."
A short moment of pause, and Kyou's voice came up again, but this time sounding a bit different, like it was recorded differently and added in later.
"If your Raevan is experiencing weird symptoms, such as delusional, acting out of character, aggressive, emotional, please leave a detailed account of what is happening."
Another short pause, but this time when the voice returned, it sounded determined.
"I assure you, I will fix your Raevan whatever it takes. I will get back to you soon."
A short pause, and the original message continued on.
"Please leave a message after the beep."
BEEP.

”H-hello? Doctor?”
”He said to leave a message. God you are so dumb.”
”I know that! Shhh-- Hello Doctor Kyou. This is Yuurei. I wanted to give you a call because there have been some strange goings on lately with Lucia. Can you leave the room?”
”FINE!” A door is heard slamming and the woman lets out a breath.
”Sorry. There has been some strange behavior on Lucia’s part, but I’m not sure if it has to do with this virus thing or not. She seemed fine until the other night. She destroyed her room and made it look like she was kidnapped or something. The police told me it was staged and that she must have run away.
Aphismet and Rivener helped me find her, but when we did her arm was broken and her rune was glowing white like a freaking spotlight. She also kind of appeared out of nowhere and I was sure that we had searched exactly in the place where she showed up. And then she became very – umm – sexual with Rivener.” She took a breath.
”When I got her out of there, she was very angry, but it may have been because Aphi and I wouldn’t let her stay with Rivener. Either way, I took her to the hospital for her arm – I hope that was okay – and there she…was kind of all over this doctor that was helping her. He gave her some pain medication and I don’t know if that had an adverse effect, but she was, again very pushy and again, overtly sexual.
I don’t know what’s going on, what the whole disappearance was about, but I’m getting sick of dealing with her crap. She’s normally bitchy, but this is ridiculous. Now that her arm is all set, but obviously in need of healing, I’m getting ordered around and it’s ridiculous.
She also has mood swings where she’ll be fine one minute and then a complete horror the next. She’s been sneaking out of the house and I – don’t know what do to. Please call me back as soon as possible! For now I’ll do my best to keep her here. T-thanks…” Click.

The phone rang for what seemed like forever and Ebony had to watch as the snakes watching her moved about in tight movements, obviously feeling the vibrations created by the mobile device. She felt they were coiling in anticipation of a threat, getting ready to spring into an attack at any moment. This made her uneasy, but luckily they remained still for the most part and the answering machine finally picked up. The British tones in her voice were so low and rushed that it would be a miracle if anyone understood what had been said. “Ello, this is Ebony Shade, Cordelia’s guardian. It is very, very important for someone to get back with me as soon as possible about a cure. Cordelia’s not well. She’s been fighting with other Raevans and now her body temperature is out of control, too hot with fever. She also can’t keep her form together for longer than a couple of minutes. And…” she didn’t know quite how to say this without it sounding odd, so Ebs just kept it simple and true. “…for some reason the house is crawling with snakes, tons of them! We are currently trapped upstairs because of them. Please! As soon as you are able to, please send someone to help!”

BEEP.
"Hello? Is it--Oh. Hello, Doctor, Lab staff. This is David Nao calling. My sister, Namini, said she tried to call a few days ago but received no response. I suppose this somehow ties to all the Raevans running about, acting as hosts and hostesses to some crazy virus. I wonder how many messages you've received about the current situation..Anyways." There was a tense pause before a soft sigh was produced. In the distance, some kind of cooing and crying was heard.
"Anyways, back to the reason I called. Prajna..has become a handful. I say that in hopes of approaching this all logically rather than..emotionally. It met up with Ebony Shade's newborn a little while back and after that, it's just been INSANE. It's not eating properly or rather, its powers are all out of whack; It seems to be producing a small wave of heat instead of taking it in. It sweats. A lot. Prajna used to be cold to the touch and now it's sweating, like, everywhere. Its rune flickers in and out. Um..let's see, what else did Namini say.. I.. Doctor. I love Prajna, I swear I do, but it cries. ALL. THE. TIME.
You said, weird symptom right? Acting out of character? Emotional? Usually Prajna gets into a lot of fights, gives you this snippety kind of attitude, but lately, it cries. It keeps saying it has nightmares and, after an attack by Rivener, it cries alllll the time. Says it's weak and worthless. I..I can't take this drama for much longer. Please, call us back as soon as--"
There was a loud shattering noise as Prajna then let out an ear-piercing scream of pain.
"Dammitall! Bye. Thanks. Click!"

"Hello?! Doctor? Hey, this is Isi. I'm sure when I get back to the lab to help out, I'm going to hear this message and take down notes for you and...Well, whatever. I need to tell you something. As I'm sure you're aware, all the raevans are going ******** nuts. The Delaran raevans included. I'm sure Aphi will call you later and leave an independent message for Rivener, so, just to keep things easy, I'm just going to talk about Eiry.
"Eiry and Rivener, oh sorry, I said I wouldn't talk about...Okay. Well, Eiry was doing fine, I mean, alongside his normal antics and mischief, he was normal, but when Alex came to visit, with Zul as her tagalong, things have just fallen apart. Rivener got very agressive all of a sudden, after making out with Zul, from what I hear, and he STUNG Eiry. I mean, he's stung me and Aphi, but I never thought that he would STING Eiry. They're brothers! Rivener doesn't get along sometimes with Eiry, but still, he wouldn't hurt him for anything in the world. But he STUNG him. He got bedridden with a fever and some weariness for two days, and I thought that it was just the poison's effects on Eiry. But then Eiry just started acting weird. And when I mean weird, I mean, re-inacting every horror movie known to man weird. If you've seen The Shining, yeah, he was doing that. The freaky girl in the hallway thing, 'cept with himself. Poltergiest? Yeah, rearranging things in the house and haunting me in my sleep. He kept me up for hours, just staring at me. It was ******** terrifying! And it was weird, his rune was glowing orange. Orange! And he had the little bleed spots, like the spots on his leaf, all over his face and arms. In all hoensty, he looked like a turning leaf. Anyways, things got worse, and then he just snapped. He went absolutely MAD.
"Eiry was reciting poetry, entire tales from his favorite book collections, and he moved me around the house while I was sleeping, pinning me onto the table with KNIVES! He crawled after me, chased me throughout my home, and eventually dragged me into and through the ceiling. THROUGH THE CEILING. And left me there! I was hanging ********, and it was just my luck that I had my cellphone and I could call my brother and Alex to come rescue me, otherwise, you might've never gotten this call. When Alex came, he also pushed her into the ceiling, and when Aphi came, bringing Rivener, he went ballistic again. He started attacking Rivener and they haven't stopped since. Yup, you're hearing me correctly, they haven't stopped fighting since then. Aphismet and I are camping on the edge of our property now keeping an eye on them and they haven't stopped fighting for one moment since we managed to pull ourselves from the walls and ceilings of the household. They suck in energy, Rivener from the sky, and Eiry from the dead plant life around, and they just won't stop fighting. I don't know how to stop them! Doctor, we need to find a cure NOW. I can't ******** take this anymore, watching our two raevans beat each other within an inch of their lives."
For a moment there's silence on the other end of the line. A small sniffle.
"Anyway, in short, Doctor, Eiry's acting delusional, out of character, aggressive, his rune color is orange and he looks like a turning leaf. I suspect his earlier manic mischief behavior is linked to the fact that he's a will-o-wisp, and they aren't prone to caring about the health of the people they trick. So maybe that was just amplified? As well as his powers. His magic is off the scale. I don't even know what's going on...I don't even know how I'm going to get Eiry to listen to me...But anyway...
"Aphi and I look forward to hearing good news from you, doctor. We need our raevans back the way they were. We need to be a family again. Thanks."

Aphismet took his cell back from Isikoro and called soon after, getting a busy signal at first (someone else was calling?) and trying again a few hours later.
"Ah, Kyou, uhm. You've heard most of it from Isi, I think... Rivener contracted this infection thing from Zul, and since then he's been so incredibly aggressive. He doesn't care about anyone else, to boot. He's attacked so many people! He stung, as far as I know: Eiry, Prajna, Zul, erm... me, and uh... I d-don't know who else, I can't really think straight. Probably others too. Sometimes I can't find him at night, he goes out... And now, like you heard, Rivener and Eiry have been fighting for... for days."
A tired sigh. "We'll be waiting for news of a cure. Thank you for your hard work..."

A sigh is heard in the background.

There's a lot of shuffling and hissing before an obviously British female's voice is heard.
“D-don’t Cordelia! Please calm down! There’s nothing to be upset about!”
More shuffling before a loud roaring hiss is heard.
“No Cordelia, please stop! Please!”
A loud crunching sound is heard before the line goes dead.

"Uhm, Hi Dr Kyou. Th-this is Aphismet. I just wanted to let you know that Eiry and Rivener have stopped fighting, and we've moved back into the house, but erm... W-well there's this thing in the paper this morning. I'm not sure if it's about Rivener or not, but he has been missing a lot at night, and I d-didn't have the time to check up on him because I can't leave Isi alone at home with Eiry, it's too dangerous... A-anyway. I think we really need that cure soon. I think Rivener's been ah... h-hurting people. So please, please call me the minute there's a cure. We can't go on much longer, Eiry's driving us all crazy, we can hardly sleep, and now Riv's... Well. I'm s-sure you're doing the best you can. ...Thanks!"

"Uh...hi, Dr. Kyou. This is Kinsey Finch, uh, Varun's guardian? Yeah, uh..."
A loud thump follows some shuffling and a slam of a door.
"Goddamnit. Oh, uh, sorry. Forgot I had the phone...anyways, uh, ah, detailed account? I'm pretty Varun has gone goddamned crazy? He's obsessed with salt water, he's refusing to wear any clothing and he's under this delusion everything female is his. He calls me his Kinsey. He's always got this wild look in his eyes and he's always so angry and I thought it was because Rivener kicked his a** and it was just the ego talking, you know, but this is serious! He already has one weird alpha male syndrome going on but this is...I mean, I can't let him out of the house! He growls at strangers, lunges at men, he's come home all beaten up and he claims he was protecting a girl, he's run off to the sea and he creates whirlpools. Whirlpools! Oh, did I mention he tried to drown my dog and he rips doors out of the walls to get out?"
The young woman on the other side of the line seemed to remember to take a breath. "Uh, yeah, sorry. So basically, he's obsessively possessive over, like, everything, he's got a demented sense of chivalry and he's totally alpha male. And feral. I mean, I'm sure the nudity of the least of my problems, but I still get a really bad feeling about that... Anyways, uh, just, uh, I'll call back later if anything changes, I guess? Bye!"

There was a pause.
A timid voice peeped over the line to test if it was okay to speak, "H-hello...."
Another pause.
The voice returned only now it was laced with a bit more worry and hesitancy, "Umm... Mr. Dr. Kyou," you could almost hear the boy mentally slap himself over the phone for that one, "Anyway, LuLu has been kinda of... going c-crazy. I do not know what I did wrong! I took her to a petting zoo to have some fun and she went postal! She hijacked all their rabbits then ran off, but I got her back." The boy conveniently forgot to mention the fact that she had been missing for nearly 8 days prior to being found. "I am scared. Even now she is not all together. Her rune is black and she talks in gibberish. I have her tied up so she will not try anything else. P-please.... tell me what I have to do."
The line went dead.

Almost as soon as the message tone sounds Ethan is speaking, an unsettlingly frantic tone in his normally collected and businesslike voice; “Doctor Kyou... Vyn is acting strange – just as your message describes. At first it was just general illness, followed by something less mundane... Her cheeks peeled into petals. I tried to phone you then but there was no answer and your recorded message hadn’t been updated then... So I spoke to Aphismet instead after which got the wrong impression and didn’t act as I perhaps should have done until it was too late and Vyn had gone missing.” The man pauses in his hurried speech as the sound of splintering wood and rapid barking echo down the phone-line. The phone appears to be placed on a surface and the background noise continues though Ethan soothing the dog can now be heard, soon afterwards the phone is retrieved and Ethan is speaking again, though he sounds even more stressed than before. “She came back earlier today... Wandering Around outside like some morbid ghost. Cuts and bruises all over her. Only heaven knows what happened – she wouldn’t speak. I took her up to our floor of the building hoping she would feel at home... But... Something terrible is happening.” His tone finally breaks and all sense of a strong man flees. “I don’t know what to do. I think I’m in danger. Please Doctor... Send someone to help. I don't know if the door will hold.” There’s a long pause, in which the sound of the dog whimpering is met with more scratching against a wooden surface and Ethan’s deep panicked breathing... Finally the call ends.

A brisk voice began speaking. "Doctor Kyou, this is Kali. Uh, Tari's guardian. Something very strange is occurring, just as your voicemail message describes. Tari is even more emotional than usual - who knew that was possible," came the quieter aside, as though Kali forgot she was being recorded. "She's more demanding, and even seems to be leading other Raevans astray. I think I saw her rune flashing a very sickly green, but she took off top quickly for me to be sure..."
A sigh. "Anyway, she's refusing to come home and just ran off. I'm in pursuit, but if she decides it'll be more 'fun' to come to the Labs before I can contain her, please be aware that she's very likely infected with what you were mentioning. I'll let you know how things develop on my end."
A click, and the recording ends.
The next message has a familiar voice. "I forgot to say, if Tari does appear at the Labs without me, please call me back and let me know. Otherwise I'll bring her in when I catch her."
A deep murmur in the background. Louder, but still not directly into the phone, "No, I do not want to buy a ticket, I just need to find my daughter who ran in here! What, no, why should I pay, I'm not going to be looking at anything... Goddamn overcharging swine ... s**t, is this still on?"

There was a soft hum on the line before a worried voice spoke into the phone. "Um... I don't know if you know me but I'm Domevlo's guardian. Thanatos..." With a slight pause there's the sound of car horns beeping in the distance. What sounds like tires sliding dangerously across the pavement can be heard with a resounding string of curse words...
The line goes dead.
In a new message Thanatos returns. "Sorry... there's a commotion at the museum.. I think...it has something to do with Domo and another reavan." He pauses as the sound of a motorbike shuts off. "He's been highly emotional lately, scared even. Not to long ago I caught him crying in the garage but... well it was a horrible sight. His tears are acid." For a moment the call shifts and more unsavory words are exchanged in a muffled string of vulgarities. Once again Xan returns to the line with a huff. "Somethings up... he's been acting distant like someone I don't even know. Doctor I don't know how to handle this..."
A slight pause. "Here I have an extra ticket. He comes here a lot..." Hurried steps. "Ah yeah... I'll have to call back but... NO!!! Don't touch him!!"
