Who: Namini, Prajna, Yuurei and Lucia
Where: the same beach as the 2008 Summer Beach Blowout
When: Afternoon, around 12:30
Weather: Actually a warmer day than normal, temperature in the low 60s and a clear sunny sky
PostPosted: Wed Nov 11, 2009 5:05 pm

”How can you not remember how to get there? It was only last year!” Lucia scowled at Yuurei as she drove the frei towards the beach they had been at during the Lab Summer event in 2008. The kitten had insisted, claiming that she needed to relax and the beach would be a good place to go.

Really Lucia just wanted to go and daydream about when she first met Rivener. That night wound up being so steamy. She closed her eyes as she thought about it. Her rune was still glowing bright white, but she had made a skirt for herself. A black frilly skirt right below her chest, with a lace trim made her shirt look like it just had an empire waist.

As far as the arm she had also improvised. She would be stuck being unable to use it for six weeks. The doctor had even said she set the bone so well that she should look into medicine. But she has vehemently refused to have an ugly plaster cast the entire time. The doctor was willing to compromise. A black splint, that she could not remove or get wet for 6 weeks. It was better than a large clunky ugly cast. She had even improvised a couple of pretty sleeves to hide it. Similar to Pasha’s her sleeves were black and laced with a purple ribbon above her elbows. They flowed down and belled open slightly, ending with a lacy trim just at the tips of her fingers. Of course, since the frei had made them, they matched the skirt which also had ribbon lacing and the same purple and black trim. The effect was pretty.

She looked at where her guardian was driving and nodded, ”At the very least, don’t forget to park AT the beach this time!”

Yuurei sighed as she drove. Caring for the kitten, especially after the disappearance that the kitten still refused to explain to her, had become a full-time and thankless job. She was being slaved around as if the girl had a broken neck, not just an arm. Everyone breaks an arm. Yuurei had even broken an arm once, maybe. Now it was take me here! I wanna do this! Get me this! Come ooooonnnn my wrist is broken!

And now Yuurei was driving to some BEACH in NOVEMBER! You wanted a raevan, she reminded herself as she drew in a breath and drove to the right parking lot this time.

"Don't get so close Prajna. The water's colder than usual this time of year," Namini stressed as the redhead nodded reluctantly, its rune flickering ever so slightly. The sunlight wasn't particularly strong enough to help it recover from everything that had occurred in the last few weeks, but it was something mild enough that Prajna didn't end up sweating more than was necessary; The sweating, the weakness, they had refused to go away ever since it had meant Cordelia, that worthless snake-girl. The Star furrowed its brow at the memory of her, its eyes glancing over its clammy hands. When would it be strong enough to defend itself again? When would it be able to control the coming and going of those strong, blue flames? Prajna ruffled its wings and clenched its fists as its eyes turned back to the repetitive tide.

In. Out. In. Out.

At least something was consistent around here.

That's when both Nao's turned simultaneously, listening and looking at an approaching vehicle. Who would come to the beach in November? Prajna's rune flickering doubled, as if in anxiety, as Namini's body language reflected the feelings; She took a step forward, in front of the Frei. The bangs too short to fit into Prajna's bun fluttered against its cheeks as the breeze picked up. It felt nice against Prajna's hot skin, though Prajna now wished Namini had found it something more attractive to wear, as their unexpected guests parked. It glanced itself over. Nothing left a more notable impression quite like a boring white sundress. Prajna smoothed out the red ribbon that wrapped around the end of its half-torso and sighed. Oh yes, nothing was more elegant than this.

Lucia hopped out of the car, leaving Yuurei to catch up. She didn’t really care about the human and honestly hoped the beach was empty. The place looked different without all of the people and raevans, She floated onto the beach, the belt buckle once again leaving a trail in the sand as she let it drag. The kitten wanted to come to the shore to be alone and daydream, but her eyes immediately narrowed at another raevan she had never met. Who was this girl to be where she wanted to be? Lucia’s thoughts were a bit upset as she floated towards Prajna. ”Who are you?”

Yuurei took her time getting out of the car, sick of the cat’s mood. Waiting until Lucia was on the beach, Yuurei got out of the car and closed her door purposefully. Lucia at least would know she was coming. Walking on the beach the woman looked in surprise as she saw Lucia approaching another raevan. Looking around, she spotted what appeared to be its guardian. Walking over, she smiled warmly at the girl. ”Hi, I’m Yuurei. I assume you’re caring for that one?”

"Who are you?"

Namini flinched at the cat's unexplained rudeness, her maternal instincts dominating the majority of her thoughts. The brave teen stopped the darkly dressed Frei's approach as she stood, frozen, in her spot between the two "children." Even when a mysterious blonde approached the trio and addressed Namini directly, the brunette kept her blues eyes only on the threat in front of her, "Hi..I'm. Yes, I'm Namini Nao, Prajna's guardian. Can we help you? We will leave if we are causing a .."

Namini glanced over Lucia once more. The cat seemed to emit danger.

"Problem."

Unlike its courageous teenage-owner, Prajna felt its insides, what little there were, begin to twist and flip upon laying its cerulean eyes on Lucia. Though her skin was different, the black look of her clothes, of her hair, were enough to trigger something inside the Star. An image of an encroaching Basilisk ghosted Lucia, sending waves of unexpected anger throughout Prajna's half-torso. The tears. The pain. The sweating. It was all her fault. All Cordelia's. Prajna narrowed its icy blues at the cat and pushed against Namini's guarding body. Let me at her, let me at her, Prajna's mind raced before logic settled back in. Hadn't it agreed to seek revenge on her, only when it was strong enough?

Prajna clenched and unclenched its shaking fists. No, it was still too weak. The redhead fluttered back a few feet from Namini and tried to get a good look at the situation. The blue flames..what if they could only be brought on by a threat? Well, there was only one way to find out. Prajna raised its head and directed a smirk right at the irritated Lucia. It'd TURN this Cordelia-shadow into a threat if that would bring its powers back.

Yuurei flicked her hand towards Namini. "Oh no, it should be fine. Lucia gets along with everyone!" She smiled at the woman. "Besides, you were here first! If anyone needs to leave," she said eyeing the cat, "it will be us." The woman smiled and looked at the red-haired raevan. "Wow, Prajna's such a pretty name!"

Lucia raised her eyebrows at her guardians flattery. Prajna? How...not. Maybe this one couldn't talk either. But she didn't have the same grace or exuberance or spirit that Cordelia had. She obviously was trying too hard. The cat leveled a piercing stare at the raevan in front of her.

Then it smirked. A knowing bitchy provoking smirk. Lucia's temper flared and she didn't like that this stranger could control her emotions like that. Instead of attacking the frei, Lucia smiled sweetly at Namini, trying to confirm her guardian's words that she got along with everyone. She would show this b***h that she could manipulate too. "Hi Namini! I'm Lucia. What are you doing on the beach today?" She glanced at the other raevan and her eyes shone in the light, the smile still plastered on her sweet face.

Namini's posture immediately relaxed at Yuurei's cheeriness. The tension lessened even more when Lucia began to speak, her voice quite smooth, like velvet, but Namini made sure to keep some kind of guard up. She took a half step to the side, revealing Prajna only a little. She tried to smile as naturally as possible, "Prajna came up with the name itself, announced it, I suppose, when I first picked it up. Prajna, please, introduce yourself."

The redhead examined the cat's movements. Everything about her body language was shifting so subtly, it would have been easy to overlook something but the Star had learned with Cordelia, with Rivener: You could never let your guard down. But now was not the time to act suspicious, especially so openly. Prajna's smirk melted away quickly and in its place arose a mirror image of Lucia's sweet sweet smile as it bowed and purred, "Pleasure."

Namini cringed just a bit, picking up an undertone of mockery but said nothing, replying to Lucia's question quickly, in hopes of covering up her charge's disrespect, "Prajna has been feeling ill lately so we brought it out for some fresh air. It's been overwhelmed with fevers so I thought a beach might be able to cool its head down a bit."

Throughout Namini's explanation, Prajna nodded its head every now and then in agreement, but kept its eyes on Lucia. That way she smiled...It'd make sure to remove her of such a smug air before their meeting was up.

Lucia giggled politely as Namini told her story about Prajna's naming. So she had named herself that stupid name. Lame-o. Lucia's eyes locked on Prajna's, almost daring it to do something. When the raevan smiled too, her thoughts narrowed. This one would have to lose its cool first, that was the only way to win, and Lucia hated losing anything.

So it could talk. Lucia had figured it was deaf as well as dumb. Oh well, she thought, the frei wasn't as tragic as she first thought - it was only dumb. Lucia took, the "pleasure" that the raevan had as entirely negative. She was trying to outdo the cat! Well, that surely wouldn't happen.

Lucia smiled sweetly at Namini and addressed Prajna; "Oh no! You haven't been feeling good?" It? Her guardian called her "it"! Oh my god. Lucia had to struggle not to laugh at the unfortunateness of this girl...or should she say thing. Not only did she choose a crappy name, but she wasn't even recognized as a girl, or a frei for that matter -- all freis were gendered. Poor, pathetic soul. Turning to its guardian Lucia smiled, "The beach has always been somewhere I've had fond thoughts of."

Yuurei smiled at Lucia. The cat was always good with strangers. "Why don't you two go play for a little on the beach?" she said to the two freis. Was Prajna just sick or did it have the sickness? She didn't want to talk about it in front of Lucia, or even Prajna incase it didn't know. Did Namini have any more information than she did?

The moment a sickeningly sweet giggle left Lucia's lips, the conclusion had been drawn: Lucia could not be trusted. The way she responded to things, the way she moved and smiled and danced among the words being exchanged. Maybe to a genuinely kind and innocent person like Namini, who saw only the good in people, Lucia appeared to be an angel, the cutest little cat-thing to ever be put on this Earth but Prajna knew these mannerisms too well. She was nothing more than a copy cat, a shadow of the true evil...Cordelia. Cartoon antagonists flashed behind Prajna's eyes and it wondered, for a moment, if this was some kind of test. Cordelia, perhaps, had sent Lucia as some kind of underling out to oust the Flame. The smirk returned. Well, if that was what she was after...

"No, Prajna has been feeling bad. But...Yes, let's go 'play' on the beach. Lucia. Follow Prajna, please," the Star sang as it floated away from the two humans, too deep in its scheming to consider why Yuurei had suggested such a thing. Namini hesitated, considered leaving then and now, but knew it would be rude and so... forced a smile, though her eyes trickled after her redhead charge. Would everything be ok? Lucia didn't seem too strong but the teen did not want more fighting to break out.

Yuurei laughed lightly at Prajna's eagerness to play. Lucia had an eager friend already. "So is Prajna actually sick, or does it have the same problem it seems all of the raevans are having?" She paused and looked at Namini, not acting particularly concerned about Lucia and the sickness, more just curious. "The Lab's machine said something about a problem, but I haven't really noticed any of the symptoms in Lucia. She's a little weird, but she did just have a trauma and break her arm. . . "

Lucia grinned and floated quickly to catch up to the frei. Her right hand slipped around its left arm, fingers wrapping around its upper arm in an amiable hold. Once they were far enough away from the humans that Pranja and her voice wouldn't carry, Lucia's fingers began squeezing harder on its arm. How dare this thing intrude on her time on the beach! She was supposed to be alone.

This fake it needed to pay. Lucia's nails began digging into Prajna's arm and her fingers squeezed together, pinching some of the frei's skin between them. "So" she said with a smirk and dark look crossing her face, "How's it feel to be not even good enough to have a gender?"

Namini was surprised by Yuurei's sudden question. She reddened immediately, wondering if the other now saw her as a poor parent, "I'm..not sure. David, my brother, called the office and left a message but he did not tell me much about what the answering machine said. I can..only presume Prajna is part of this..viral outbreak but..I don't know. I can only guess that though since there are..many different symptoms to this disease so... I'm not sure if this is a bug Prajna picked up on its own or from another Raevan. Prajna has been behaving weird too though.." Namini did not know what she should and should not tell this stranger but felt a small need to get everything off her chest. Maybe Yuurei would be able to relate? Maybe if Namini opened up first, the blonde would follow?

As they floated into the distance, Prajna's lips quickly fell out of their curled state and into a deep frown. It did not like the heat of Lucia's hand. She was too close and Prajna did not like sweating more than was painfully necessary. That's when it felt the pressure, the pinching. It stopped mid-float, at the end of Lucia's question, and turned its eyes back to the cat's face, a sinister smirk decorating its androgynous features once again. So she was going to be like that hm? Prajna leaned in to the other's face, its glacier-colored eyes attempting to freeze Lucia's warm purples over.

"Want to know what is so very very nice 'bout Prajna? Boy, girl, man, lady, want to see, Lucia?" the redhead hissed as it cupped the cat's face, some of its fingers twirling around and obtaining a firm grip on some of the cat's dark locks. "Want to see what is like--to play with fire?"

If this girl, if Cordelia's little helper was truly up for the task, Prajna would hold nothing back. But maybe..if she squealed and told the Frei everything about the Basilisk soul, things would be a little easier ... For her.

Yuurei nodded, with slight understanding. "It was something about delusions, being emotional, acting weird, and a few other things. Ebony -- do you know her? -- Ebony told me that she thought Cordelia -- her raevan -- gave it to Lucia. I'm not sure though." She paused, trying to think about the symptoms the cat was exhibiting. How much should she share with this stranger?

Yuurei smiled at the other guardian. "Lucia is acting more..." Which was the least embarrassing? The hyper sexuality? The running away? The aggression towards herself? "Well, she kind of popped up out of nowhere. Another guardian and I were looking for her and she just randomly appeared. And her rune is glowing bright white. Normally it's a soft purple." The blonde shrugged.

Lucia wanted to laugh at this creature's pathetic attempt to intimidate her with a stare. Instead her eyes were fiery, staring right back. As it touched her face, the cat recoiled. "Eww! Don't touch me you might contaminate me with your blandness! I don't want to be a flat girl or girly boy too!"

Her eyes narrowed as the thing was touching her hair. "Don't touch my hair. You'll make it all nasty like yours," her hand came up and her sharp nails scratched at the frei's hand, her face snarling with anger and contempt. The kitty knew what it was like to play with fire, she had fire with Rivener. Even though she had never been in a physical fight before the cat instinctually knew what to do. If they were going to fight, Lucia would be sure to tire it out. Then go in for the kill. That, she knew, would be the easiest way.

"Oh..that would explain a lot. Prajna met Cordelia a few weeks ago, then I made the mistake of taking it to see Aphismet and Rivener..Prajna's been so emotional ever since, crying all the time. I thought it really needed this breather. Its powers have been off as well, though nothing has affected its rune's coloring; It usually..takes in heat, eats artificial lighting, makes these weird blue flames from its fingers, but lately, when it "eats"..it just sweats a lot and can't seem to produce any of its weird fire.." Namini blushed, catching herself in a rant. "I'm sorry. Perhaps I'm saying too much?"

Namini wished she was as in control of herself as Yuurei seemed to be. The woman seemed to be ..so put together, so at ease, as if they were discussing the weather.

Prajna grinned ear to ear, excited to see the girl losing her temper and so quickly. Even when she scratched its hand, no anger arose. It was as if being angry, for once, would have wasted so much precious energy. It was much better, more convenient to use that energy for something ...more. Yes, come here kitty kitty Prajna's mind seemed to purr into its features as it hoped its plan to retrieve its powers worked. It removed the ribbon from its "waist" and wrapped it around its hand, covering the barely bleeding scratches. It finished the tie with a bow on top before turning its attention back to the dark-colored Frei in front of it. She looked ready to pounce. Prajna stared at her through its curtain of bangs, still smiling mockingly, ""Eww?" "Don't-!" "Nasty." Hmph. Lucia seems..so stupid. Lucia is..so UGLY, y'know? Worries only 'bout small things. Come. Let Prajna show Lucia what should be worry for."

The Frei extended a curved hand to her, preparing to either defend itself against or strike the feline.

Yuurei smiled and laughed softly at Namini's explanation. "Sorry!" she apologized, "No, it's fine! You seemed to really want to say all of that." Her eyes looked at the girl affectionately. She wasn't much younger than herself, Yuurei noted, but definitely younger. "It sounds like that might be because of the virus. I haven't noticed any problems like that. She had been very touchy-feely lately with some people. And more aggressive with others. But, like I said, she's always fine with other raevans." She told the other guardian what had happened with Lucia without actually going into anything that might embarrass herself. "But like I said she disappeared one day and broke her wrist while doing that." The blonde shrugged her shoulders again.

Lucia scoffed. She was confident and knew that she was neither ugly nor stupid. This thing couldn't even speak well. But if the frei wanted to provoke her into a fight, why not. There was nothing that would stop her from ripping this arrogant bothersome mouse to pieces and eating it.

Lucia glanced quickly over at the humans. Namini was talking and Yuurei seemed occupied by her. As Prajna extended her hand, the cat's only free hand gently lifted up her ribbon. Distance fighting, she rationed, might throw this frei for a loop. She just needed to distract the thing with something else. She couldn't fight with her left hand, but she could pretend she was going to.

Lucia held the belt buckle at the end of her ribbon loosely in her hands. Quickly, she sprung forward with her left arm pulling back, feigning a punch while her right arm swung forward as she hurled the belt buckle hard at the gross frei, aiming for Prajna's left eye and cheek bone.
