Glitter couldn't sit still. She was full of the energy and impatience that she enjoyed more often in her youth. She didn't know what had gotten into her recently, but something in the air seemed electric, palpable. She felt the coming of something good, something significant. What that could be, she'd never guess. All she knew was that she felt the way she had when she was much younger, always wishing to be in motion and running, her mane thrown back in the wind. How she missed those carefree days!
Glitter was no old mare; she knew that. She still had plenty of life in her, and plenty of things to see yet! She also was not so young anymore, and she found that a blessing also. She thought back on the foolishness of her youth and it made her smile to remember. She was thankful for teh experiences and hoped her children were out in the world learning much as she had in her youth. Well, maybe not TOO much as she had. Luck had played a large role in Glitter's safety and she was well aware of that fact. She worried sometimes when thinking about her children, all grown and out on their own. She had confidence that they were wise enough to be safe, but still dangers were ever present.
She smiled and looked up into the bright sky. Lazy clouds were drifting across the gray-blue background. The world was becoming more and more dreary as the winter approached, but the colorful mare didn't mind. The cool breeze that crept beneath her coat was simply all the more reason to go running to warm up!

Rocksteady crested the hill and saw clearly the familiar bright colors of her mother down in the valley. She smiled to herself as she watched the impatient movements of Glitter Rock. Her mother was as animated as she remembered, always in motion and ready for action. Oh how she had missed her mother! Rocksteady thought back to fights she'd had with Glitter when she was younger. How foolish such things seemed now. Rocksteady was very unlike her mother and always had a different way of seeing the world. Her mother's animated self and her adventurous attitude had gone against Rocksteady's more laid back and calm nature.
The mare laughed aloud now as she thought of it. She had fallen in love with a stallion not unlike her mother. Dhanuraja was as adventurous and wild as Glitter Rock, and Rocksteady had found the airborne stallion's demeanor a perfect compliment to her own. Fate had a sense of humor, it seemed!
Rocksteady was filled with energy suddenly and started off at a run to meet her mother. How surprised will Glitter be! The mare smiled and called out as she got near, but didn't slow. In fact, she raced past her mother, looking back and laughing as she zigzagged off.

Her back was turned, but she heard behind her hoof beats and turned to see a blur of color racing past her. That blur was familiar! She realized immediately that it was Rocksteady, her daughter! She paused in confusion for a moment, but realized Rocksteady was getting further away. Laughing, she too took off at a run to catch up with the younger mare. The two zigzagged around the scant trees and tall bushes as they wound their way to the river, where finally they stopped.
Rocksteady had won the race, but Glitter Rock didn't mind. She was beaming as she looked upon her daughter, who was also aglow with happiness. Glitter moved to the river and took a drink before turning again to Rocksteady. "It's so good to see you; I've missed you so." She nuzzled her daughter gently, then took a step back. She looked so like her Father! "Tell me all about your travels, my dear. I'd love to hear everything!"
