How long had it been since he doted on her? He loved her with his heart, and through everything his love never faultered once, not even slightly, not even for the smallest obstacle, large or small, not even for a firefly. The sun was setting and through the undergrowth he tred, flower in his mouth clasped tightly, but gently. This flower he had sought after for some time, never finding any truly in bloom, and tonight, this one would open as the moon would touch it gently as she held it.
She was his moon, and she guided him through everything, and was always there, no matter if he could see her or she was hidden by the morning sky.
Bright eyes looked for her in the undergrowth, purring in his throat he wondered if she was hiding, waiting, did she know he was bringing her a gift? His love, he missed her so much these last few moons. For some reason he had felt distant, but in that time he never stopped loving her, and he always stayed close in body though his mind wandered to dreams of adventure.
Adventures they would have together, for all their days.

It had been a long time since the fight with her mother, since being chased away by her father. Though she did not keep it a secret from her mate, she still kept it a secret from her sister. Since then, she had contented herself to wander with her family. Her mate, her sister and those cubs of her sister that chose to stick around. As it was, though, she was alone, laying in her favorite place where she could see the sky and watching as it began to glow and dim with the setting sun. She hummed cheerfully to herself, thinking of her family. She wondered about Kileji and Nasibu, she wondered about Antigone, the cubs that went missing and the ones that left.
They were doing something right if growing up was the most dramatic thing that had happened to them. Life was peaceful and happy.

He heard a light humming in the air and it thurmmed in his ears like a melody. He purred and closed his eyes listened to the tone of her voice, without words but it was still warm and he felt it surge through his system. He was happiests while in her presence, nad happiest if he could not see her, ehar her voice, this way or another. She probably would never know the appreciation he had for the warmth of her voice, the light in her eyes, but he could try to remind her with these simple things.
Hayate stopped, peeked through the underbrush and watched her for a moment, a smile on his maw as he helf her gift gently.
He stepped through the underbrush softly, quietly, not to startle her and he smiled with his eyes that flickered in the dimming rays of the sun.
The flower he held was a pale yellow in a bud, but as it would bloom in the moonlight, it would turn orange, and shine blue.
He placed it before her, on her paws ans nuzzled her cheek, "For you my love, I've searched for so long to find you one like this," he hoped she would like it.
But they had to wait a few more moments for the moon, a bud was nothing unless in bloom, and hte process was just as becoming as the scent.

"Hmm, oh?" Janja's attention turned to Hayate as soon as she heard the rustling of the brush and his footsteps heading her way. There was no mistaking that sound, she knew exactly who it was. She turned to look in the direction he was coming from, a smile already waiting to greet him when he appeared. She watched curiously as he placed a flower bud on her paws, then turned to him, nuzzling him in return.
"Is this where you've been?" she asked, glancing back to bud on her paws, "Out looking for flowers for me? You don't have to do things like that." Her eyes went back to him, still smiling. She had no idea there was anything special about this particular type of flower.

"I may not have to my darling, but this one is different, you'll see," he sat next to her close, letting his tail wrap around hers, making a low murmuring noise of a purr, smiling, closing his eyes. The scent of the night was thin here, broken by the growth all around them. Vines tangled with branches creating mazes, but they could always find their way to each other.
Opening his green eyes Hayate looked up and saw the moon peeking through the clouds, "Here," he held out his paw under hers, holding it up, so that the tiny bud was in her palm.
"Watch," the moon crept from the clouds and shined softly down, touching the small form, and it seemed to wriggle with life, opening slowly, revealing a soft blue and yellow, turning into white at the edges. It was rare, different, and unique, just as they were meant to be as one, this flower could only be true when touched by its other half, the moonlight.

Janja leaned against him when he sat beside her, smiling as he made himself comfortable. There was no point arguing with him, he didn't have to do a thing but he was going to whether or not she said it. Besides, it was rather sweet. She was quiet until he spoke again, putting his paw under hers and holding out the flower. She raised a brow at him but looked to the flower bud as he said. She nearly jumped when it started to wriggle, leaning down to get a better look as a curious cat might, but moving back again when it spread out into a beautiful flower.
"Oh my," she murmured, looking over to Hayate, "I've never seen anything like it, where did you find it?" She looked back down, smiling.

He smiled and nuzzled her cheek, "I'm glad you like it. I found it deep within the vines that are knotted, growing on the underside of branches hanging overhead, it was strange that way. I noticed there was a hole in the canopy at an angle towards them, one night I saw them bloom. They are so unique, I've never seen them before, I wanted to bring one to you, for you."
Hayate felt complete in her presence, and he wanted nothing more than to make her happy. He breathed deep, basking in the night air, its scent, the sounds that surrounded them.
"One night I will show you, when there are more of them, we'll go, it'll be a secret place."
Their place.

"It sounds beautiful," she commented, glancing between Hayate and the flower and then finally up to the moon. She had to wonder how it worked, how the little flower knew when the moonlight was on it. It was fascinating and beautiful at the same time, so naturally it caught her interest. She looked over to Hayate with a smile when he said he would show her where he found it.
"Promise?" she asked with a grin. She carefully set the flower down and pushed herself up into a sitting position so she could really sit with him, "It's been very quiet, lately."

"Of course my love," he curled himself around her, made her feel warm adn secure, he wanted nothing else than to be able to stay like this, Together forever, in their own little world secluded, but family was love as well, and the love he held for her was so strong for them and their family, her family, all of their family.
"It has been, but its because everyone around has grown into fine adults. No more little paws running around, or trying to climb or catch little hopping things, but in time everything will sound again love," he purred and nuzzled her.
This was a moment he loved, every moment like this.
This was life.

Janja leaned against Hayate, breathing deeply and sighing happily. She knew why it was so quiet, it was hard not to know why. Everybody was grown up, big enough for their own families now. Few remained and those that did still had their own little lives, their own adventures. His comment about more little feet made her wonder, then made her worry. The others were old enough for their own cubs but she and Hayate had yet to have their own. They had tried but they had not been successful so far. And it had been some time they were together.
She sighed against, nuzzling against Hayate and looking up at the moon. Either way, she could enjoy moments like this. This was all she needed.
