Quote:
The Pirate Games: Austin's lost his very special compass. The compass that can lead the holder to the thing that they most desire. Anyone can find it, but they're going to have a hell of a time keeping it, because other people will find out what it can do!

And don't forget, the pirates already know!

You can enter the ORP whenever you want, you can leave it whenever you want. You can even do offshot rps of one person chasing another, as long as the compass comes back to the main thread eventually.

Polly smirked, tossing the pilfered compass into the air and catching it. It was Austin's own fault for sleeping so soundly. If he didn't want his precious compass stolen, he would have learned to sleep with one eye open! As it was, it was Polly's now! She grinned evilly and flipped the top, ignoring the fact that the street she was walking down was starting to get crowded.

The needle on the compass started to spin, round and round it went until Polly was starting to feel nauseous. A scowl crossed her pretty face and she rapped a knuckle on the glass that covered it, trying to get it to focus.

The crowd around her surged and a large woman intent on getting to a sale slammed into her, sending the poor little pirate flying.

With horror the girl watched as the compass flew out of her hand, arcing as if in slow motion before being lost among the crowd. "No!" Polly screamed, trying to force her way through the jostling bodies. She had no luck.

The compass was lost.

Austin was going to kill her.

Todd was getting quite proud of himself as of late, as if the huge grin on his face didn't elude to such. He was getting better and better at sneaking away from his dads, without either of them even realizing it. He tugged his fox eared hood back over his head as he slithered through the large crowd of people. Sneaking away and stealing had become his new hobbies. Well not stealing, he prefered to call it borrowing. He would take items from stores, or even people, but would return the items before they were missed. See, borrowing, quite different.

Before he could even ponder the idea of which store to hit today, he felt his foot hit something, and heard the distinct sound of something skidding away. Letting out a curious sound, he turned his attention to the ground, spotting something round and shiny on the ground a few feet away from him. Well that was interesting. Todd quickly slipped past a few people that were in his way, and scooped the item up from the ground, holding it possessively while he slipped off to a spot where he could inspect the item.

Safely out of the moving crowd of people at the mouth of an alley, he inspected his new found item. At fist he assumed it was an old pocket watch, but after popping the top he saw that it was a compass instead. He smiled brightly and he continued to inspect it, but that smile soon turned into a frown as he watched the compass' hand constantly spin, spin and spin without any sign of stopping. What kind of compass had he found? A broken one it seemed.

(oh gawd sorry about being rusty...XD;; wink

Polly scowled, looking at the people passing between her and where the compass had fallen with a hint of rage. "Get out of my way!" she bellowed, but no one paid attention to the little girl when there were more important things to be doing. Like getting to work.

A small dwarf girl was on an errand. Of course she realized that at least two of the crew from her parent's airship were discreetly following her, making sure she didn't get kidnapped or something, she was officially coming back from her first solo mail delivery. Which is why the sight of a blonde boy sneaking to an alleyway caught her attention.

"Oye," she said, poking him in the leg. "You pick something up?"

A scared squeak slipped from Todd, as he jumped at the sudden voice and poke at his leg sending the compass into the air. He jumbled the airborne compass before safely snatching it with both hands, clutching it tightly to his chest. He took a breath before glancing down at the poking culprit.

"Uhhh, yes?" He was wary of answering but couldn't think of a lie on the spot, she had startled him and his brain was still swimming from the adrenalin rush. " I-I found it on the ground..." his blue eyes darted around, seeing if she was accompanied by anyone else. Where had she come from anyways?

Jordan grinned, evilly, enjoying that jumpy reaction thoroughly. "Is it a dirty magazine?" she asked, turning so she was looking up at whatever it was in his hands. "My Dad's got dirty magazines. He hides them in the safe under the bed, but I figured out the combination."

But it didn't look like a dirty magazine, at least not any of the ones she had seen (which weren't many, and only once cuz her mom caught on a lot faster than her dad did). "What is it?" she asked, reaching for the item rudely.

Todd couldn't help but tug his hands out of her reach, fighting the urge to glare at her and snarl 'Mine.' He didn't need to do that, that was kid stuff, and he wasn't a kid. At least not in his mind. And why in the world would this girl's father keep dirty magazines? Magazines were hard to read once they got dirty, weren't they? His comics were at least...

He huffed before responding, "Its a compass. A broken one though, it doesn't point North. Doesn't point anywhere actually." He trailed off at the last part, his hands starting to toy with the compass in thought.

"Yeah?" she asked. "Maybe the magnet's missing! That's how they find north, right? Because it's a gigantic north pole that's actually a magnet." Now she really wanted to get her hands on it. She strained, standing on tiptoe, but was far too short to reach it. "We should get a new magnet!"

Or, she thought, SHE could get a new magnet and he could leave her to fix the compass!

"Compasses have magnets in them?" He couldn't help but pull the compass in front of him, opening his hands to peer at the compass, watching the arrow continuing its constant rotation. He held it gingerly, as if a toad was in his hands and was afraid it would leap from him before he got a good look at it. "Where would we find a new magnet?" He pondered out loud, tilting his hands slightly so she could get a good look at the compass. She seemed to know what she was talking about, maybe she would know just by looking at it. Look, not touch.

She looked at it, staring blankly at the spinning needle for a moment as she forgot to grab for it.

"Hey!" Polly shouted, catching sight of the kids now that she had managed to sneak through the traffic. "That's mine!"

"Oh, it's a pirate," Jordan said as she glanced over at the redhead. "That means that that thing's got to be good for something!"

Todd looked up, clapping his hands shut before clutching them to his chest again. Why this item was making him so possessive, he didn't quite understand, but then again he'd never found anything this interesting, broken or not.

"A-a pirate? Those exist?" He turned his attention to the shouting 'pirate,' caught between the feeling of returning the item to its owner, or keeping it from her. If she was a pirate, she probably stole it to begin with. Why not keep it from her? He slid his hands into the pouch of his sweater, tilting his head to the side in question. "What's yours?"

"That compass!" she said. "It's broken, too, you don't got any reason to hold onto it--" she got closer, grabbing for the compass, "like that!"

In other words, it was pretty important to her for being broken.

"What's it do?" Jordan demanded, seeing an adventure in this. "Lemme see it!"

"No!" Polly said before Todd could manage.

Todd slipped out of the pirate's way, eyeing her warily. She did indeed want the compass badly, even if it was broken, which confused him. Although he himself wanted to never give it up, for some unknown reason.

He felt the sudden urge to slip away from the two girls and make a break for his parents, but with them both closing in on him, he didn't know if the compass was really so important to him anymore.

But the pirate REALLY wants it, so it HAS to be special in some way. Maybe one of his dads would know...

"I-I found it. Finders keepers..."

Both girls stared at him blankly. "Who gave you that line of complete and utter crap?" Polly asked finally.

"She's got a point," Jordan agreed. "I mean, I find all sorts of stuff that I can't keep. I found the place I had to take the mail to, and--"

Polly grabbed for the compass. "That only works for pirates, savvy?"
PostPosted: Wed Nov 11, 2009 8:15 pm

Todd frowned at both girls, huffing in agitation, " And I usually give back what I take, but why do you want this so badly. Its broken neways!"

Todd's frown deepened as Polly got closer, and he tighten his grip on the compass. "What's so special about it?" He was more curious than anything. With the outlook of this situation looking like a good game of 2 vs 1, Todd was starting to feel that ditching the compass would be better for his health. "Just tell me and I'll give it back to you, pirate."

She looked at him, as if doubting his words, then opened her mouth.

"Ooooye! Polly!" a dreadlock wearing boy called from the other side of the street. "You stole my compass, didn't you?"

"Oh fishnuts," Polly muttered. "Hide it!" She shoved Todd as hard as she could before moving to block him from Austin.

"It's a convention?" Jordan asked.
