Fingers tapped against her arm as Ursula loomed over the very same desk she used to sit at, not two weeks ago.
It was awkward, standing in Hillworth once again, knowing all too well that her place was no longer here, in these halls, in this very room where the secretary of the school sat. No, instead of a beautiful twenty-two year old now sat a shorter, younger, pretty little girl with long brown hair that Ursula had fought long and hard at trying to cut, but failed miserably.
She wasn't sure how she ended up here, agreeing to assist the 'new' girl in learning all the tasks Ursula had involuntarily given up to begin her new life at Barren Pines. BP was a decent school with decent schemes running amuck, but it wasn't home. It wasn't what she was used to, wasn't what she'd been doing for the past year or so she'd been in Destiny City.
"So," she said at last, eyes roaming the newly cleaned desk top. "What is it exactly that you do know about this job?"

Nova felt quite small, looking up at Ursula, and being asked to recant everything she knew about her "job" at Hillworth.
"Umm... I answer the phone? And um. I shuffle papers around and um. I tried to make... " there was a long pause before she could muster up the courage for this, "Uncle Gunn coffee once, but he threw it at my head." Nova had hid her stash of post it doodles already, but the intense stare of Ursula broke her down.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry I don't know anything about this job, I think Tisi-Theresa knows it way better than I do and I don't want her to get in to more favor with (gulp) Uncle Gunn. I've done nothing and a teacher yelled at me yesterday and Audrey made fun of my shoes I didn't know crocs were "sucky" but I guess they are so I've been wearing them to work and stowing them under my desk so she can't seeeee."
Nova had begun to whine.

Her arms had folded themselves across her chest as the younger girl began to talk, and Ursula listened intently on what the girl had to say. She was well prepared to tear into the senshi for botching up her job but... well, it sounded as if she was already being given a tough time over it.
She sighed and looked up, her eyes rolling as she mentally chided herself for having any sympathy at all for this silly pathetic little creature, and then she turned back to Nova, shaking her head.
"First off, ignore Audrey. She's got the fashion sense of a blind woman. If they're comfortable, you wear them." Ursula was not about to encourage the girl to dress herself up, not while she was in such close contact with Uncle Gunn. "I used to toss off my shoes under there anyhow. Freedom to wiggle toes is a good thing."
She offered a half smile, a small attempt at, well, being nice for once to the senshi. "And you're certainly stressing yourself out over such little things. You can't dare be trying to tell me that you actually spend the time working all day, hm? I know most of my time was spent helping me stay as beautiful as I am, so you're certainly doing something wrong if you're actually working all day."
Her smile tugged wider as her mind continued to replay the mental image of a cup of coffee being sailed at Nova's head. She didn't like the fact the new girls were now responsible for caretaking of the General-King, not when that had been Ursula's job for so long.
God, she was such a sap, was she actually jealous over bringing the man coffee?
"So tell me what you really do throughout the day, Nova, and then I'll start teaching you what I know."

Nova fidgeted, and looked a little ashamed as she slid open the desk drawer and handed Ursula two items-- one a pad of post-its, filled with tiny stick figures of whom were obviously the cast of the Negaverse, and the other a colourful pad of Japanese stationary. This set featured hugging bears and the phrase "Love know years to find yous."
"What I'm supposed to do most of the day is spar with Theresa," Nova said this in a hushed tone because really, what perky little secretary spars? "but mostly we are pretty silent to one another so we haven't really done much yet. I doodle on post its and um."
Nova was sort of ashamed of the next part, but continued on.
"I send notes to the other um. Kids. You know, Drew, uh. Toby. Tanz? Letting them know they're doing their best! I hate to see their glum faces coming out of Uncle Gunn's office."

If Ursula had been drinking, she would have choked herself to death.
Leaning over, she did her best not to laugh as she glanced over the doodles, listening to Nova explain about their lack of training and her love letter writing. She couldn't help but grin, oddly enough, at everything she heard. Despite whatever age this senshi was, she obviously wasn't gunning for, well, Gunn, and seemed no more harmless to approach than a newborn kitten. Ursula had to wonder if she truly was corrupted, judging by this rather adorable personality Nova was displaying.
"Hm," she said, attempting to put on a more serious face, her finger moving towards the doodle and pointing out the one she identified as being her own self. "I don't think you made my breasts quite big enough, darling. And what's this about letters? Am I not good enough to be on your letter writing list?"
Feigning offense, she rose back up and crossed her arms again, her nose high in the air as she continued to tease the girl. "I don't know, Nova, I don't know if I should train you if you're not even going to value me as a teammate."

"Oh but i DO have letter's for you, Miss Ursula!" Nova slid open the bottom drawer and retrieved a small package, tied with an orange bow.
"I heard you were going to "prom" with "Uncle Gunn" and you know, i think that's a hard road to travel," Nova patted Ursula's hand with a grim expression, "He's not very nice but everyone knows you like him so I kept track of all the time's he threw coffee at me. He mumbled your name once! Also I felt bad that you were laid up, especially since it concerns Astraea."
Nova's cheerful face turned hard, and it was a pretty good thing that she was wearing her bracelet.
"Ok am I doing this ok? Because I haven't a ******** clue what to do Ursula, I'm like... watching terrible human movies with secretaries and I'm trying really damn hard to be perky but GOD my mouth hurts from smiling and all I want to do when kids come in to see Uncle Gunn is throttle them,"
Nova paused and smiled as the beaky science teacher strolled by, giving her the evil eye.

"I... uhh.."
Alright, so that was unexpected. Ursula had assumed the girl would simply end up tripping over her words in response, but instead it was the older woman who was left speechless as a package was shoved into her dainty hand. She stared at it as if a snake had been thrust at her, and then looked back at Nova as the shorter girl mentioned the term 'prom'.
Her cheeks grew pink as the innocent voice commented on prom, but they quickly flushed a dark scarlet as she continued with 'everyone knows you like him'. Her words clearly weren't meant to insult or mock, not like someone like Obsidian or Linarite might do, but Nova's seemed actually... genuine?
She was still mulling over the part where Killingworth had apparently mentioned her name (could he be missing her, by some distant chance?) and nearly unintentionally ignored Nova's plea for help.
Setting the package down on the corner of the desk, Ursula attempted to focus her mind at the task at hand. Nova needed help. She was there to help. Ursula absentmindedly waved to the staff member passing by out of habit, and returned to smiling at Nova. Genuinely smiling.
"Calm down, first off," she explained, tucking the doodles back into the top drawer as she spoke, "As much as I'd love to believe this is like a typical movie secretary job, I'm afraid things are a bit more detailed than that.... but not by much."
Leaning over, it took her all of ten minutes to go over the simple paperwork procedures that she'd routinely do each day. All of the computer work had already been forced upon the puppet of a principal, so all that was left were two things. Dealing with boys, and coffee. She opted for the latter to start with, the former going to take a bit more time.
"Alright. What do you know about making coffee?"

Nova listened intently to Ursula, making notes as she did so. It was so baffling, being a human and yet not remembering or knowing anything about it. She knew she must have at one point had family, had friends-- and she quietly watched the news at night in her room, trying to figure out who she was. Which of the mysterious disappearances had once been her, who she might have left behind, what she might have been if she had stayed an uncorrupted Senshi. There was a sense of loss, a sense of finality in regards to her humanity. She had emotions and feelings and all things that made humans human but there was no OFF switch to her senshi form, which just made it so HARD to be content with sitting at her desk everyday and boiling cups of coffee.
Part of her just wanted to break things-- snap the necks of the whining students, kick a hole in to her desk, burn down the entire ******** building. She was bored and antsy, and because she really didn't understand a whole ******** lot (because seriously mindwipe amnesia made google really ******** hard to comprehend) she didn't really know how to cope with it all. Shopping had been confusing and she had tried to display as much happiness as Nealite and Tanzanite were showing but she felt nothing when looking at "cute shoes". ******** shoes, she had Senshi to deal with.
But Nova was still... Nova, for all that she was corrupted. All she wanted to do was please people and she had been ordered to at least act normal, though she didn't understand how this was helpful where the Negaverse was concerned because paperwork was boring as hell and did not strike fear in to any Senshi's hearts.
"The brown sludgy stuff that Uncle Gunn likes to drink as long as I don't touch it? Nothing. If I say "I don't know how to make coffee" the response is a quizzical raise of the brow and they don't help me, all they do is giggle and pat me on the head like I was making a ******** joke."
