So, today was our vry last Monday night marching rehearsal. Unfortunately, our stadium lights are broken. They might explode. So it was a very odd rehearsal.
-Usually, we start mondays at 6, and go to 9. This rehearsal started at 5 and went to 7.
-The footbll team was practicing when we went out. They finished at 530
-by 5:30, it was getting dark. We did some marching rehearsal
-By 6, it was almost pitch black, but the lights from a nearby park. We switched to music rehearsal in random drill sets.
-We had ineligibles holding flashlights on the DMs so we could see them.
-Not to mentiont he field was a swamp.
-By 7, it looked like 9.

It was really abnormal. Rehearsal in the dark.
So, share your own stories. ever had to march in the dark with no lights? Ever marched on a jduddy field? ever done both together? What would your band have done in tis situation?

Muddy fields can certainly make rehearsal interesting. Last year we were rehearsing our show on our practice field near the end of the year and by then the grass was gone. It was pretty much just dirt and dead grass. Anyway, the sprinklers were broken so that they flooded the field and certain areas were just big patches of mud. In our show last year, we had a visual where we all fell over in a way that looked like dominoes. Well, we fell into the mud. And to make it even better, the next part of the visual had us rolling onto our backs. So now not only our sides but our backs were covered in mud as well. It was lots of fun, especially going to class right after rehearsal. xD

Lol! I remeber that partXD It was a cool part

That is basically what our guard was doing. They have a roll, which just happend to be o the mud, wearing white band shirts most of them. Those shirts aren't white anymore. And our shoes weren' black anymore and he same thing happened before state. Our field was flooded as well, and we were practicing for state in the mud. coould slightly explain our uncertainty and half-good performance. we were surprised to make top 10 after our worst show, but we did. Now as long as everyone can keep it together for the first time all week, we can do top 5 tomorrow(at 5 am>.>)

We had a rehearsal in the dark tonight too. With eighth graders. Groan. Then when we couldn't safely march anymore, around 6, we went inside and taught next year's freshman how to play two of our stands tunes. I'm scared for next year. Those eighth graders were super quiet! And they never played. Never talked, never played. And they wouldn't dance with us. (This was also really funny because us who have played these songs at almost every football game messed up a lotXD)
But hopefully, i won't have t deal with them(completely) I'm hoping to make drum major next year. I was going to go for sl, but I am sooo tired of section drama. I'm just glad our sl this year is leaving. I hate her with a passion. She s extremely rude(you never tell someone they suck, especially when they don't, and you never tell said person they never practice, when they are the one who brings their insrument home everyday. yes miranda, I carry it around for 6 hours just to stare at it>.> And I am a good player. If she wants a bad player, i don' know why she never tells that to seamus, who actually does suck(Really hate to say it, but even the tuner gave up on him. We can only try and fail>.>) And besides, nobody seems to believe I can get sl or want me to. As for DM, some people say that i would make a good oneXD I have more support for that then I do sl, so I'm going to try.

We had rehearsal in our stadium on Friday, and they didn't turn on the lights until it was already starting to get dark. We were playing the new show, and I could barely see the music.
Near the end of rehearsal when we were running pregame, they started turning the lights off one by one. By the time we left the stadium, there was like a single lightbulb and the play clocks still lit and that was it.
I have no idea why they do stuff like that...guess whoever was still in the stadium wanted the band to gtfo. xD

Fortunately, both the stadium and our practice field have artificial turf, so we've never had to deal with mud.

Our field sucks, sooo... I loled when i found out where our "home" game was on friday. At my sister's school. And she had a play. I will burst out laughing if we go there this week, because the band is actually going. We didn't go on friday because we had an imprortant competition on saturday.
