There was minimum splash as Kimberly Harris entered the water, gracefully sliding into the crystalline liquid without so much as a 'plop!'. It was several moments before she surfaced again, not even seeming out of breath despite having been underwater for a while. She flicked her fringe from her face, two strong strokes bringing her to the side of the pool where she effortlessly pulled herself out, snatching her towel from a hook on the side of the pool and beginning to dry herself as she walked towards the changing rooms. Session three of the week - she always tried to get in at least five hours of diving a week, otherwise she was afraid her talent might 'disappear'. That had been her third hour, but that wasn't an issue - she'd just come back for two hours on Saturday morning. Sleeping in had never been Kimmie's thing. Rubbing her hair dry in mere moments due to it's short length, she merely pulled on a loose pair of trackies over her swimming suit, towel resting over her shoulders as she pushed her earrings back in, whilst at the same time strolling back to her dormitory.
It was fairly late - not late enough for everyone to have retired to their rooms, but late enough that the school corridors were empty. Students were either in each others rooms, or perhaps out on the lawn. Checking her mobile momentarily for the time, she pushed it back into her trackies pocket, once again rubbing her hair with the towel for good measure, re-clipping her hair clip before suppressing a yawn, considering her evening. Curl up with a nice big mug of hot chocolate and watch a film, or call around her friends. Hmm - maybe she could do both? Get 'em round for a nice little slumber party. Sounded good.

The pool stick case swung gently at his side as Topher Coral finally left the lounge room in the sports hall. Thankfully there had been no one in the room which gave him all he time he needed without someone trying to be the odd one out and challenge the "billiards kid" to a game. Either way, he felt pretty good about it and it felt like the perfect end to a good day
"I guess I can call that mission accomplished," he uttered seemingly to no one. All he wanted to do was slip back into his dorm and curl up in front of the TV before inevitably falling asleep during some made for tv movie. Topher was relieved at the thought of a bit of relaxation. After a barrage of homework and a bit of practice, it was a welcome change of pace.
Flipping up the case to carry it more appropriately, Topher realize that he wasn't completely alone. Someone else seemed to be walking back as well.
"Are you going back to the dorms too?" He didn't really check to see who it was before he spoke but it wasn't like it mattered to him. Anyone who would actually talk was a definite plus.

Huh? Kimmie was suddenly aware of not being so alone in the corridor. There was a boy a little further up, that suddenly decided to talk to her? Or just talk out loud? Glancing at the case in his arms she assumed he'd come from the lounge, since it looked like a pool stick case. And suddenly it all clicked - this was that pretty boy that was good at billiards. Ooo, nice. Adjusting her towel just a little, suddenly aware she wasn't wearing much on her upper half, she quickened her pace just a little so she was next to him, and things weren't as awkward. Dorms? She nodded, before realizing he probably hadn't seem, flashing a sweet smile as she spoke, "Yeah. Lazy night in, I'm thinking."
She slowed her pace to match his, holding onto her towel as she walked, glancing down at her bare feet. Fingers crossed no-one had gone crazy and decided to go smashing some bottles on the pavement. She'd had glass in her foot before, and wasn't eager to repeat the experience. But at the same time, she didn't see the point of dragging everything to the pool with her. She'd be wearing a swimming costume anyway...a towel to dry herself and her trackies so she wasn't completely naked, that was all the was needed, in Kimmie's opinion.

He was honestly surprised how quickly she had caught up to him. "A lazy night sounds nice. I was just heading up to my dorm to watch tv or read. Depends on whether my book or the remote is closer to my bed," he chuckled faintly. At least she seemed willing to talk for a bit. Perfect. Of course, with the limited clothing and the appearance of wet hair, he was fairly certain that she was a swimmer of some sort.
"I think I've seen you in the sports hall before or in the pool or something. Not that I was being creepy and watching you but I tend to get around here pretty easily and, you know, It's hard not to notice people when they're splashing around," he discreetly misstep a couple times to make it easier to walk side by side until they were at a decent pace. He quickly looked himself over, as if he suddenly felt something was out of place when he noticed her bare feet. A look of concern grew on his face as he motioned to her.
"Do you want my shoes? I've got socks so I'm good. We're most likely not the same size but it's better than getting something stuck in your foot." Well, he couldn't have that. Who knew what was on the ground sitting in wait for someone to step on it and be limping for days.

She smiled in response to his admittedly rather weak joke, glancing sideways at his pool stick case, mildly amazed by how large it was. Wasn't it annoying, to carry that around all the time? That's why she loved diving - swimming costume and possibly a hat if it was a competition, and you were set. Maybe a pair of goggle if you were a wimp, but Kimmie most certainly wasn't, so it was all good.
Hmm? Oh, he'd seen her? She smiled, before it split into a grin as he both stumbled over not seeming like a stalker and mistepped a few times - she suspected purposefully. "Yeah, I'm a diver. I'm here most days, usually early morning or evening-time like now. I've seen you around school in general, I think - don't I have History with you?" she asked, suddenly pondering. She tried to visualise her history class, but couldn't quite manage. He might or he might not. She wasn't sure. It wasn't like she enjoyed history, anyway. She glanced up, blinking as he motioned to her, before offering his shoes. She blinked once more, as if surprised by the gesture, before giggling lightly, shaking her head with a grin.
"Nah, I'm fine thanks. I've got fairly tough soles, so as long as there isn't any glass I'll be fine. Besides, it's not far. Shoes are just extra effort when you're swimming, and not pleasant to wear when wet."

A diver? Now that wasn't something you didn't hear everyday. Normally they said just swimming or possibly water polo but never strictly diving.
"Wow! That sounds petty fun. I've never really been very good at swimming so I don't even think I could attempt to dive off of something," a wide smile plastered over his face as he continued, "You should teach me how to swim sometime. I'm sure you'd be a wonderful instructor!" The idea of getting to know someone more was something that he'd always loved.
His smile did soften a bit at the mention of history. Had he seen her in his history class? Possibly? Maybe? He certainly couldn't write her out of the books just yet. "Do you sit in the back of the class or the front? I sit towards the middle so I don't really notice anyone that isn't directly in front of me. My name is Topher if that rings a bell. I know my teacher still does that whole role call thing." He tried his best to visualize the class but could only remember the girl that sat in front of him and the guy next to him who always chewed gum. Nothing really stuck out.
"Strong soles? You must be bare foot a lot then. My feet are pretty sensitive."

Fun? She smiled, wide and bright, genuine. She nodded, sighing gently as she dropped the towel, linking her fingers together before placing her hands behind her back, leaning into them, "Yeah, it's great. At first I got really dizzy, with all the twirling in mid-air, but it's such a thrill, y'know? It's amazing, you should try it!" she suggested, just as he mentioned swimming lessons? She blinked, a little surprised - she wasn't a swimming teacher. Sure, she was a perfectly good swimmer - you had to be able to swim before you could dive, after all. But teaching? Her smile widened, "Sure! That sounds like fun - I haven't really taught anyone before, though. You'd be like, a guinea pig."
Back or front? She grinned - that was easy. "Back. I'm the one that's always asleep?" Topher? Yeah, that was it! She gasped lightly, realisation striking home as she nodded eagerly, un-linking her fingers so she could click them, "Yeah, you are! Two rows in front, to the right. I'm Kimberly - everyone says Kimmie, though."
She nodded in response to his comment on her feet, smiling as she glanced down at them. Yeah, they were like proper leather, her feet. You'd be hard pushed to get anything other than glass through them.

Being way too dizzy didn't appeal to him at all. m " No. I don't think diving is for me. Jumping normally results in falling and that part doesn't sound like it's too enjoyable on my part," he added a nod at the end of his statement. Though he did want to know more. Maybe he would stop by whenever they were having a competition and watch. Perhaps she would even invite him if they got close enough. "But I wouldn't mind being your guinea pig as long as you didn't drown me with some strange method of teaching someone to swim. I'm sure that your not the type to just hold someone's head underwater..."
No wonder he'd never seen her! "Aha!" Topher may not have known where she sat but he knew that there was a Kimmie in his history class. He was definitely sure of that. "Yeah. That's certainly where I sit. I don't really look around much since it seems to be more notes than lecture. I wish we could at least have some group discussions or something once in awhile so it's not as boring. I mean, we probably would've spoken by now if our teacher didn't talk our ears off already."
The teen wasn't too sure how long he could take about the history subject. Talking about that class was like pouring salt and lemon juice into and open wound. He ran his free hand through his choppy hair, fingers pulling at loose strands as he though of another topic.
"So, Kimmie, do you have any other hobbies besides diving or is it one of those things where that's your entire life and nothing else matters?"

Kimmie giggled at his mild joke, sighing to herself as she continued walking, glancing up at the night sky with a wide grin. She much preferred night to day - all the stars came out and twinkled in the sky, like a light show. She'd considered taking up astronomy more than once, but at the moment she had enough on her plate, and didn't reckon she had time for anything else. Another joke, and another grin from Kimmie. "Nahhh, I find drowning isn't often an effective method. I'll go easy on ya, promise." She winked for good measure, before turning her gaze back to the sky again.
Another chuckle as the jokes about the history teacher came, Kimmie nodding to show she agreed. But like Topher, it seemed increasingly boring a subject to talk about, especially if they weren't in history class. He dropped the subject without any prompting, however, and she glanced back down with a grateful smile, followed by a thoughtful expression as he asked about her hobbies.
"Well...diving's the most important, definitely. But I like the occasional swim, too. And I can't resist a good horror movie."

He followed her gaze up, watching the stars intently. It seemed rather boring. No meteor showers. No alien craft. The stars didn't even seem to be "twinkling" or whatever they did at night. Though, they did shine rather brightly no matter how stationary they seemed. "Looking at the sky are we?" he said listlessly, eyes not leaving the open canopy.
Something about night time always made him think that they actually were rather small in the universe. The teen just wished that stars were more interesting than just small balls of light way, WAY off in the distance. "I suppose I should be saying something about great kings of the past right now but I've got nothing." Topher hoisted the pool stick case over his shoulder, dangling it by the tips of he fingers around the handle.
The mention of horror movies sparked his curiosity causing his gaze to finally revert back to her. "Horror movies? Not many girls I've known have like horror movies?" Eyes brightening a bit, his expression changing to one of complete interest. "What types do you like? Thrillers? Psychological thrillers? Gore fests? Or are you the type that likes good old fashioned summer camp serial killers?"

She smiled softly as he spoke, but didn't reply, only giving a small, shallow nod. Maybe she'd buy a telescope one day, if she could afford it. She doubted it, but you never knew. She might become a world-famous diver and be able to afford everything. ...Yeah, right. Even world famous olympic athletes weren't paid as well as those popular footballers, or rockstars. Still, it was what she enjoyed.
She giggled, flashing him a grin at his mild attempt at a joke. "I love that film. Horror films, yes, but you can never beat a good Disney film. Especially when you're curled up sick in bed." She used her towel to rub her hair lightly again, her hands wanting something to do, even though her hair had long-since dried. He seemed interested in her love of horror films, though, and her smile stretched to a grin as she stretched her arms backwards, contemplating his question.
"I like 'em all, really. Can't really beat the old fashioned serial killers at summer camp, though."
