I saw some of these a while ago so I think I'm gonna try to make my own. Let's see if I get them right:

CLARINETS:
They usually are the first to memorize their music. Although they are into the band, they're usually the least musical of the lot. Clarinet is kind of like the gateway drug to band. Almost all woodwinds start on clarinet and the ones that never thought to try another instrument are usually the ones who have stuck with it all throughout high school. Most of the clarinets are very cheerful and bright. Their leader is usually an upperclassman as it is uncommon for a clarinetist to be exceptionally good at JUST the clarinet. (Usually, they are good sax players too and are put in the saxes to balance out the massive amounts of clarinets to the usually more lacking amount of saxophones.)

FLUTES:
The most "BAND IS THE BEST EVAR!!1!" section. They are way more into band than usual band members. Although they might not be very good musicians, they make up for it with their serious spirit and love for what they do. Flutes are perceived as slight perfectionists as they usually get on each others backs for messing stuff up. Of all the sections, the flutes are the only ones that will verbally maul another player for stuff like "Your flute isn't at the right angle." People usually think of the flutes as being a little too optimistic, but their fine with that. They are also very hard to hear so some might be shy. A lot of people choose the flute BECAUSE it's the quietest instrument. They also have serious tuning problems due to the pitch of the instrument.

SAXOPHONES:
Perceived as the bands usual class clowns, saxophones provide a vital comic relief when times get tough in band. Although this also means that they are usually the butt of most of their band directors rage. Saxophones are also known to be incredible perverts as most sax sections are dominated by males. The saxophone is a very interesting instrument in that it is the happy medium between brass and woodwind. Not many people like the sound of the saxophone, but the saxes usually could care less. Saxes are fearless and bold, just like their instruments sound. Sax also has the most room for musical genius. There is usually at least one sax that cares so much about the music,, that he is in other bands beside the ACTUAL band. These are usually jazz musicians or honor band members.

TRUMPETS:
Trumpets are usually the most disliked section in the band. Although the section is usually full of wonderful musicians, as people, trumpets are generally jerks. Because they are known to be the loudest section in band, they usually get a false sense of importance ant think they are more important than every other band section. It is rare to see a shy trumpet player, as they are indeed the loudest section in the band. Trumpets are also known to be perverts, as most of them are usually male. It is not uncommon, however, to come across a female trumpet player. Trumpets are also a very good place to find fine musicians. After all, they are usually vain for a reason.

LOW BRASS:
Low brass is a very interesting section. They are usually the least charismatic about the band, and care more about their individual gain and improvement as musicians. They are typically not good leaders but are usually astounding musicians. Due to their lack of motivation, they are looked down upon by the other more enthused sections. But really, they could care less. Their music is not generally very hard and is very typical of bass music. This means less practicing and more other stuff during their free time and sectionals. This also may be the reason why they don't ever sound together when they play as a whole. Low brass is usually under the assumption that the music doesn't need to be practiced because it's just quarter notes, so they either loligag around or practice on other more important stuff.
Note: Trombones have a very high concentration of musical genius. Although all of the above usually apply to them, they typically care more about the music than normal low brass.

DRUMLINE:
Drum line is usually purely made of the band's hooligans. They most nonsensical section of the band and most of the time the least musical, they usually end up screwing around when the rest of the band is off doing their own thing. Sectionals are more like parties depending on the drum captain. Drum captain generally make what the drum line is. The stricter the drum captain, the more intense the drum line is. Although they do have a tendency to goof off, they usually have a couple sensational drummers in there. The rest of the band usually dislikes the drum line because they always screw around and never usually do sectionals. But the band doesn't know that the drum line generally practices twice as often as an average band member. They also have twice as much music and need to memorize different things like marching sideways and stick tricks. But much like the low brass, they don't tend to practice the show music and rely more on practicing rudiments or harder cadences.
P.S. Drum line is in an almost completely different league than the rest of the band. Each instrument should get its own paragraph, but for the sake of space, I'm putting them all together. They also tend to only communicate with each other due to the fact that they are in an almost completely different league than the rest of the band...

PIT:
Pit is usually a compilation of concert percussionists, people who didn't make it through try outs on they're actual instruments, or people who couldn't make it to most of band camp. The pit is looked down upon by most of the band because they are not typically very good, but you can find good musicians within them. The pit personality wise is very hard to determine. Pit usually has a multitude of different mannerisms depending on each persons personality, so it's almost impossible to pin point. They are also not usually very good at marching since they never need to march. They're usually the ones out of step during parades.

COLORGUARD:
The flag team is an entirely different sector of the band. They have almost no contact with the band other than rehearsals. The color guard is almost always exclusively female, but hey sometimes have male members. Due to their usual...not-good-ness...they are not liked by the band. Color guard is usually a very charismatic and poppy part of band, but they are also very difficult to train as there aren't very many prerequisites to color guard. They are generally just starting and aren't very syncopated, which is why college color guards are way better. Also, a color guard is usually only as good as it's coach/captain, much like the drum line. They are almost always horrific marchers too. But that is normal because of the fact that they have to do flag and baton movements with their hands while marching.

Thanks for reading. I hope it was accurate...

P.S...THESE ARE NOT TOTALLY ACCURATE!!! These are just my views on the different sections and are STEREOTYPES. There are always exceptions to these, so don't piss your pants if I insulted your section...I insulted my section too...

clarinets...i agree

flutes...im a flute and a little hurt by that lol jk i like to think im the best in the band(but that makes me sound like a trumpet lol) but i am the most enthusiastic about band i also play the piccolo and they arnt very loud when with the whole band, but when its only the woodwinds(which piccolos normally accompany)we are definately the loudest lol ya but most of us tend to be preps that arnt good...i lead a bunch of idiots lol

saxophones...thats like really true

ya we dont really like our trumpet section them the clarinets and trombones tend to be the worst

low brass...i feel sorry that they dont have hard parts, but whenever they do have even somewhat hard parts they screw it up so i dont feel as sorry

drumline...we love our drumline
theyre all really good and funny
they take their practice pads everywhere and when theyre suppossed to be working they drum so we respect em for that

pit...im not in marching yet, ive been talking about in my grade(8th) so i dont really know what the pits like but that kinda sounds right even though our best drummer wants to be in the pit

colorguard...ive seen them theyre terrible marcher snad sometimes not good, but they do add a lot to the visual when done right

what section are you??

Gotta add:
Low Woodwinds: Tenor/Bari Saxes, bass clarinet. Though they're probably not on their first instrument, these players are usually very dedicated to their instrument, and willing to carry all 30+ pounds of it and its case to and from band. Gifted musicians, despite simple parts. Occasionally unheard while playing because there aren't many of them. Bass clarinet has a lot of difficulty with that fact, as there's usually only one in the band. The thing is, even when they have important parts and should play louder, they can't because they don't know how. As people, the jerk population of this section is extremely low... Most of the kids are sort of quiet, but are funny people who like to mess around and be awesome when the rest of the band isn't there, like during sectionals.

Haha. Amazingly, the flute stuff almost fits me.

And the pit. Haha. Freshman year, pit member, couldn't march for s**t the following year. xD

haha, seems to suit my bands sax and trumpet section pretty well. as for the drums, though, they are the most disciplined section in my entire band. they stay at sectionals til four-thirty and work the hardest in band camp. there's a lot of drumming competition around here, though.

Our low brass section has always had a very nerdy tendency as well. They're all gamers and/or just smart academically.

Funny thing, I'm a flute. Yet whenever someone looks for me, I am constantly hanging with the low brass instead. But on the perfectionists thing, and trying to kill each other; main reason why I am a fruit with all the low brass. Gotta keep my self alive somehow. lol

I'm a saxophone player and even though it's mostly males, we're not that perverted and goofy. We're one of the normal sections in the band. Shocker I know.

haaaaaaaahaha those don't fit my band at all

here it's like:

flutes: only a few of them don't suck. none of them really care. most of them never come to practices. no one really notices them.

clarinets: extremely talented, but too shy to play out. pretty quiet and not too crazy, but they have their moments. they're all really close friends.

trumpets: pretty average trumpet player personalities.. aka cocky. but still pretty cool and nice. pretty lazy and unenthusiastic about most things.

saxes/middle horns: very small section, also very quiet. no one really notices them. still pretty talented.

low brass/reeds: most fun section. extremely crazy and has way more enthusiasm about band than any other section. very talented, very loud and tends to overpower other sections. kind of like a small family. (this is my section. they like to call me 'mom' because i'm the only girl LOL<3)

percussion: CRAZY. they like to steal signs and random photos and hang them in the back of the band room. they're always going out for dinner together, wrestling in the back of the room, and generally getting waaaay too close. they don't like to watch the conductor, always playing too fast and too loud.

guard: no one really likes them. sweatdrop they kind of suck and they're all pretty gross/annoying. but hey, what can you do.

I have to agree. I'm so glad we don't have colorguard in my band. xD

As for the rest of the stereotypes:
'nets: the quietest section, also all Asian
piccs (we don't have flutes): all prepubescent girls
trumpets and bones: the loud ones
basses (aka tubas): the crazy ones with their own weird traditions
baritones: who cares, there's like three of them
phonez, tenors, mellos, perc: ...dunno
pit: none

Someone actually did a sociology paper on the band once, about how we group ourselves by instruments rather than by gender or race or whatever like the rest of society. I think that's what the gist of it was.

basses here have the BESSSSSTTTTT weird traditions!

before every competition we get in a circle, and one at a time we slap eachother on the front of our hats, give eachother a high 4 (never a 5) and say good luck!
