Word Count: 1613 Janja|The morning was cold, chilling in a sense. Janja had never lived so close to this many sourced of water, just her litter hole and Adetos a bit off of her own. This area was in the seat of rivers and lakes. There were at least two lakes and two rivers in the pack lands alone! The female gave a small chuckle and her brown eyes sparkled in bliss. She had a home, her own daughter the leader.
She couldn't be more proud.
A small frown couldn't help but slide onto her face when she spotted the young boy that had been left in her care as the current Pack Mlezi. So young. The frown deepened with her longing for her own pups, pups that she bore from her body.
A sigh escaped her maw and she let her paws fall onto the sandy bank of the lake, to watch over your young ward, Damu. Such an odd pup, though...
Maziwa'Kono|Maziwa'Kono was tired, Her body was slightly sluggish - she walked through the night, but she refused the want for sleep. She was hungry and dirty. The sun was coming up though, the sky already turning beautiful shades of purple. Shelooked sadly at the sky - she hated day time.
It was so loud, and made her ears hurt so badly. This morning, though, was quite. Those nocturnal already sleeping, those day-walkers still sleeping blissfully. She walked, towards the larger lake - one she had spent some of her cub-days. Days before her body matured enough to bare pups.
She, however, spotted two figures out on the lake already. One of a pup - Damu, and one of the Sheikh's Mother. A sigh crossed her maw, but she walked forward anyways. Water would fill her belly until she could hunt for something small or maybe go with Janja's mate, Adeto, to hunt for the pack.
That was her job now, hunting. She was good by herself, but she needed help for the larger things. In a way, she was like one of the packs parents, feeding their children with the meat they could provide. Ziwa's eyes softened.
She would love this pack, this life. It was carressing her soul already, now. She felt a sense of contentness wash over her as she walked forward, towards the figures.
Damu'Johari|The young pup had watched as the sun set that night on the bank, and he watched as it rose. A look of airy bliss was draped around his body - one of eerie contentness. A slight wind from the lake carressed his fur and filled his nose with such a sweet smell as the lake, of the water. The smile upon his maw was that of wonder, and his eyes were wise beyond their years.
His red ear had turned when he heard the Mlezi come up - she had tried to make him sleep at night, but when he wouldn't, a smile would just flit across her face and she would accept it, simply stating 'I will see you in the morning, Ujana.' And leave. She was an odd one, he thought, but he liked her well enough.
"Good Morning," he told the Mlezi kindly. She had, after all, raised him instead of his mother, but she wouldn't be. She wasn't his mother after all, and that wasn't her roll. He smiled up at her, before looking back over the water.
What he was started by, though, was that of another presence appearing behind him. Ears swished as he turned his head, staring at the newcomer to the lake.
One of the Njozi clan, he noted. He could tell she was tired, though. "Hello," he offered to her, quietly.

Janja| The eldest gave a small smile at the pup. "Good Morning," she told him with a light voice, like that of a caring Nanny - Damu was a good pup, she didn't have to yell at all and she could have serious coversations with the young male. A small shiver whispered down her spine, but she shook it off, turning to the appoaching female.
The young male cub had sensed and spoke to the female before she even noticed. A sigh of releif crossed her lips, grateful it wasn't an enemy. She knew this girl a little. "Good Morning," Janja gave a small bow of head. She hadn't seen this girl often...
All she knew about this strange female was the fact that she was a Mwindaji, a hunter, like her own mate.
Maziwa'Kono| Red eyes danced across the two, and she bowed her head lightly. "Morning," she offered to the two of them. That was one thing she had developed as she matured. Shyness. She cursed it lighty. She was always shy, just...
Not at night. The sun made her insecure. A small shifted on a paw. She felt rude, imposing on the two. She could have walked to a different part of the lake. The orange female sat, shoulders sagging a little, but her white, though dusty, paws welcomed the break.
The red eyes closed for a long while, thoughts not entering her mind, but she didn't sleep. Her body ached, and her mouth was parched. "I didn't mean to impose..."
Damu'Johari| A small smile flitted across the young onces face again, and his eyes slightly unfocused as he stared up at the orange female. "That's alright," he told her, red eyes still slightly unclear, he directed his attention towards the water once again.
"You sound like you could use a drink," he offered her, knowing, somehow, that she was thirsty, so heavily thirsty from walking so long. He placed his own maw towards the water, breathing deeply in, to inhale the scent of the water.
Breathing out, he watched the ripples against the surface of the windless morning.

Janja| Janja smiled at the younger female. She was adorable in the sense of a being, almost like a child, but becoming an adult. She was innocent, and her mother loved her. She knew - she knew this because her own daughter was mates with this female's brother.
It made her feel a little old, though - she could be a grandmother before she was a mother at all. She quirked a small smile. "You were hunting, Mwindaji?" Janja asked with a slightly curosity, watching and shifting slightly.
She threw a small glance to Damu. The pup was wise - she did look weary and she had come to the lake. The lake would serve no purpose if she needed sleep.
Unless of course she slept on the banks.
Maziwa'Kono| The white-pawed female gave a greatful sag of her shoulders and mumbled a thank you - giving a small nod to the pup. She didn't quite know their names, after all.
She was starlted slightly by the Mlezi's sudden question. A sheepish look crossed the female's face. "I had left the lands," She said in a whisper. Scooting closer to the edge of the watter, she bowed her head to avoid the gaze of the pack members and drank some water.
She didn't know if she was even allowed to leave the lands. The pack was so new - she wasn't used to the pack likfe yet. She supposed she needed to talk to the Mkuu or Sheikh, that would probably be best.
Damu'Johari| Damu began humming slightly, watching the orange colored females with calculating red eyes. He was bright for his age, thought things through logically and quickly, but he was only a pup.
He was learning the ways of the shaman, not from anyone though, from the memories of his mother. She wore odd items, but she didn't want to be subject to that.
He smiled up at the Mlezi for a moment. "What are we going to do today, Lady Janja?"
Janja| Janja gave a small tilt of her head, curiously watching the orange female. Maziwa was young - and of a different clan, but it did not really matter in this pack. It was so small and close knit that it barely mattered.
She let her gaze fall back to the small cheerful pup, who was still humming and giggling over the ripples in the water. He was so cheerful and she hoped this young pup never learned the hardships of the world. He was a sweet child - and Maziwa was a sweet child as well. She had only just reached adulthood.
"Why don't we keep Maziwa company?"
Maziwa'Kono|The young dog gave a startled glance back at the pair. Spend time with her? She was just... a simple hunter! She knew nothing of the ways of life yet. Not really. She knew she would not stay long in this place. She could feel it in her bones.
Every shift of the wind made her want to run and join it. But for now, she came back to this place every time. It didn't feel quite like home, but the place was safe and she would accept that for now.
Damu'Johari| The pup blinked up at the Mlezi, curious. Stay with Miss Maziwa? He looked up at the tired hunter once again, and smiled brightly at her. He began to hum again, softly and the two adults laid next to him on the banks as if you protect him. The place was so safe, and he felt utterly content in between the two.
He gave a soft yawn - perhaps this would not be so bad after all - being alone in a strange pack. Maybe one day it would be different, but Damu was safe and... and for now, he was actually happy.
