When I play bass I have trouble sometimes because im just starting so I need to look at my Bass to know which fret to hold but then I lose my place in the music so I am just completly lost. I'm hoping that it'll come to me in time. It does right?
Discuss your problems while playing Bass.

Yes, yes it does come in time, but you most likely will need to look at the fret board once and awhile even if it's njust to know your playing the right thing. Man have I been gone for a loing time.

My main trouble is experance. and the fact that if i switch to my newest guitart its harder to play cause the strings are up higher then my other one and I often don't hold them down enough.

well in time you dont need to look at the frettboard, because you are one with the frettboard in a sense. so basically you gain the ability to hear the note before you play it, but ive been playing for a year now and so it might take you less than a year too. 3nodding

I prefer to memorize all music and look at the fret board. I dunno, this might be the wrong thing to do, but it makes me comfortable.

Yeah, well I'm taking lesson and in my school band I only have We Three Kings which is really easy. I'll put it in tabs sometime soon.

My problems: In effect, I am playing with 3 fingers. I have four but my pinky finger isn't strong enough usually to hold down the string by itself so I've gotten into the habit of using my ring finger to back it up. but it's starting to get annoying and I think my finger is strong enough to do it on its own but it is hard to break the habit. and my other problem is I can't play slap. I don't know how.

I listen to the reverberations of the guitar against me to feel that Im playing the right note.
Each note has a pitch that I'm used to feeling in a song, and that's how I reduce the number of times I glance to the fretboards.
I still do it quite alot though. ]:

I have this habit when I'm playing that every time I switch strings down, e.g. from G to D to A to E, I often slide the same finger I just plucked with down to pluck the next string. I play three-finger style with my right hand most of the time, and it causes problems when I'm trying to play something fast over multiple strings.

Whell, you can lower the action (string heighth) by ajusting the bridge. mrgreen Meh, I just look at the freatboard constantly. That always works. mrgreen

I have trouble reaching for another string if I'm playing something fast. Although my main instrument is the bass, I'm not used in playing it since I don't have one. I just rent one from time to time but I do practice on my acoustic guitar though... pirate
