Wicca is a neo-pagan religion. Very earthy, usually very peaceful. They worship the mother Goddess (for lack of a better term). It's kind of difficult to explain...

Actually, mistressofthelost got it pretty much. They worship the earth, and the healing powers found in the earth. Stones, herbs, that kind of thing.

it involves 5 elements:
earth
air
fire
water
spirit
it's quite a new religion in comparison to most; I don't think it was created until 1923 or something like that, but yeah it got it's basics from paganism and sort of changed a cople of areas; I think,

I believe you're thinking of the pentagram, a symbol commonly used by Wiccans and other Pagans. The 5 points represent the 5 elements.

Technically a Wicca is a male witch, but Garnder (the man who created Wicca, the religion, in 1950) misused the term to make it refer to the (now known as) Wiccan religion as a whole.

But I assume the whole of the Wiccan religion.
It is a religion based on 161 rules made by Gardner. It is a religion in which a "Marton" of a group of it's followers basically rules over her coven (group of wicca).
They worship two primary deities, though the exact deieties may differ. The male deity is usually a horned god similar in appearance to that of the Christian devil (though I do beleive his supposed manner is quite different) and the female deity is the "Earth mother".
The whole of the religion is basically to worship the earth as long as you harm no person in doing so.

A side note, Wicca are not necessarially witches, even within the religion witches are only the ones capable of performing acts of magic.

A rather good source of wicca here.

I have a few friends that are Wiccan. From what they've told me there are lots of variations inside the religion. Different people will teach it a different way. & aparantly some wiccans don't even consider themselves to be witches.

If you realy are curiose, just ask someone who teaches the practice.

i have a friend who's wiccan, and she stresses that it's not devil worship. in image it's not, but in essence it is. it is NOT christ centered and does NOT involve christ worship, and jesus made it pretty dang clear that anything that doesn't worship him is against him.
matthew 12:30 says "he who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters abroad".
and the first commandment says "thou shalt not worship any other gods before me". wicca does not involve christ worship, so it is against christ and hinders the furthering of god's kingdom. yes, wiccans are generally peaceful, which is a huge relief, but wicca itself is not something we should approve of.
i'm not saying be mean to them, goodness no pleeeeease do NOT do that. love them all the same, you might be the only christian influence in their lives. oftentimes, we christians are the only bible anyone will ever read.

Well you have sorted it out well!! blaugh

I once was a wiccan follower.. untill i crossed sides.. I still worship my Goddess though.. but I had to make a decision .. as wicca was not ment for participating into evil crafts.. and I wa more then willing to learn about them.. so I had to stop to be a wiccan believer.. or call myself one..

and know i have knowledge of both sides.. only commit myself to the dark side of magic more.. for it intreges me more.. and i like to put hexes on my enemy's ..or to summon up great powers , but then great powers of the dark

If you really want to know, go see demolitionhalo. She's Wiccan and she'll be able to answer your questions the best she can. Tell her Kurt sent you.

PS- I've noticed that the most hypocrytical religion is Satanism.

ello. iam wiccan. bacially you all have good ideas about it. what you all post its all aprt of it. it is basicly a religion worshiping mother earth and nature. alos there is many other ways in wiccan you can be. like pagens, celtics, neo pagan, and alot more. i been wiccan for almost 3 years now but still i have alot to learn about the religion. I also study witchcraft , thers laws to follow. like karma( what ever u do comes back to you), but i went to the nocturnal side. its still like teh good side of witch craft but its jsut magick after dark. i dont really think of the craft haveing sides of good and evil, because if u do a hex to harm some one that hard u then i beleive thats good because your helping your self or others. so thers like many sides and beliefs.

The wiccan religion is mainly dealing with witchcraft, but I don't know many details. I do know it is a very popular subject if you're trying to sell a book to mindless teenagers.
