If the Doctor used some of the regeneration energy in "Journey's End" and then put the rest in his hand, does that mean that he is 10 and 11 and that Matt Smith would be 12?

I don't think so.
I think it only counts when he does a full regeneration.

Yea, he just used residual energy that was left over. I'm pretty sure he's done that before actually, in the older series.

There hasn't been any mention at all of the doctor having a 13 life limit in the new series though. Perhaps when they get there they will just quietly forget about it. Or the Doctor will become a snake thing like the master did.

They also say in the new series that the universe won't let the Doctor die or something along those lines. I have not re watched the new series I have not had time.

I think I would kill myself

I think they might make the Doctor say that life is like an hourglass and when the sand runs out, it's over, then when the Doctor is going to "die", they come up with the idea that hourglasses get turned over and start again, and then something happens, and the Doctor starts over, and then 14 will actually be the new 1

Sometimes I think this show is to predictable because that seems like it could happen. Well, not going through ump-tine million more regenerations but like one or 2 more...

First Natsomenucage(sorry if spelled incorrectly), your avatar is awesome! How did you do that? Anyway, back to the point. I think that they may actually make a couple of more regenerations after #13, but I think that show will eventually come to a finale of finales. They will probably either have the Doctor continue on after some epic battle and continue to wander the universe, or they will kill him. I prefer the former, personally.

Im guessing that now that he is the last of the Time Lords, the laws are a bit different. Whatever used to inhibit them beyond 12 regens might have ended when they did. Either way, it will be interesting to see how the writers deal with that when the time comes.

If he was that wold make Matt Smith the last doctor. I don't think I would want to end with him. I think he will do good (take that you pessimists!) but he is still young. Like what 27?

Actually 26, the youngest to ever play the role! I have high hopes for matt Smith!

Wait, twelve times..... that would be the 13th doctor, not Matt Smith.

Quote:
The serial The Deadly Assassin established that a Time Lord can regenerate twelve times, for a total of thirteen incarnations (although at least one Time Lord, The Master, has managed to circumvent this.

We are forgetting 2 things

1, there is Always Jenny, I do hope BBC don't forget about HER.

and 2, there have been several metions that The Doctor is 'more than just an ordinary timelord'.

Quote:
In The Brain of Morbius (1976), it was hinted that the First Doctor may not have been the first incarnation (although the other faces depicted may have been incarnations of the Time Lord Morbius)

During the Seventh Doctor's era it was hinted that the Doctor was more than just an ordinary Time Lord. In the 1996 television movie, he described himself as being "half human".

I also remember reading somewhere that he wasn't ordinary, something about the recent episodes staged on either Midnight or in The Library. Can't remember at the mo, but I'll get back to you...
