Private RP between Misha, Timka and VinnieVin (Graficcha) & Ellandra and Rhian (if mommy joins) (Redbud-Tree) & Elst and Aoi (Roots)

Location: the nursery
Time: Early evening/Late noon
Weather: warm-moist autumn weather

The situation: Misha and Timka are still out for work, but should be getting home soon-ish. Vin's... still mussing about. Currently unaware of visitors coming.

Rhian didn't want to go. Emphatically, utterly did NOT. WANT. to go anywhere. If she had her way, she would stay holed up in the cottage (preferably her bedroom) until the next baby was born, at least. She didn't have her way though, because as a concerned mother, Ellandra put a stop to the hiding away after a bit over a week of such unnatural-for-a-flutterby timidity, and, after a few short visits wherein the brunette had called Elst and Aoi to arrange a drive, was taking her precious antennae'd daughter for a walk to Elysian Gardens, knowing that the nursery was the best hope Rhian had for regaining a measure of peace.

"It will be alright, flutterby," the brunette said softly, keeping an arm around the pseudo-teen as they walked, to provide her with as much security as she could. "We're just going to see Elst and Aoi, and maybe Misha and Miss Longway, it will be just fine. You know the gardens, it's safe there, the walk's not that long, I promise you'll be safe," she continued, on and on, softly soothing the flutterby while keeping the unnerving silence at bay.

Unnerving not because of the flutterby's seeping terror all over the place at the mere thought of leaving Farstep, but because in the nearly two weeks since the incident she hadn't spoken a single word. It wasn't a choice she'd made - Rhian's voice was simply gone, no doubt due to the psychological treatment she had undergone. Sighing, a slight puff of air with no other sound attached, escaped the locked throat of the flutterby. Rhian didn't want to do this. She loved her big brother, yes, but. . . she couldn't bear the walk, it was just too scary!

But. . . there was the hinting lure of a swim later. 'I wonder what it's like to be in water and not sink,' Rhian thought to herself, trying to avoid thinking about how frightened she was.

Aoi had likely holed himself up in his room again -pray to the god the youth was getting some rest, though that wasn't likely-, Timka and Misha were out working, and Elst was out on the lands doing what a busy Elst does. Contrary to poplar belief, that did not usually involve standing in the kitchen sad and lonely spending hours upon hours experimenting with pastry, waiting for his kitten to come home.
Speaking of kittens, the porch was teeming with them.

Fact remains that the only one who registered the approaching presence for now was the one person who all things considered should not be there at all. He'd been on edge for a while now, and Rhian's signature coming to tickle him was just what he needed to get all tetchy again, as if he'd just noticed he'd been sitting on a porcupine for the last half hour. This was a degree more akward than staying over at your friend's house and having to pick up the phone for him because he was out for a while, really.
Now he didn't want Aoi to be disturbed, and they surely would make some noise if nobody would come to greet them... Rugovin hadn't even decided yet that he'd go to greet them whe he found himself heading out onto the porch already, his own signal dull as always, cringing slightly at the incessant flares of pain in his left knee. Ah well, he'd at least found a temporary fix for that now.

The mimicker only had about half a minute to wonder what he was THINKING, poking outdoors like this in naught but one of Elst's shirts -Misha could use those as a nightgown, seriously- and a pair of loose shorts. Not sure if the bandages on his arm and knee counted, but either way, he felt pretty damn naked.
That half minute was enough to at least keep him from wandering over like a confused, if huge, pup, and grind him to a standstill by the side of the house.

Think this through, buddy, think this through.

Sensing Rhian's signal so strongly, no matter how fogged-up it felt, he got the luminous idea of for once sending out a peep or two himself, hoping she'd catch the hint. Over here, ladies.
Why yes, they'd come together. This was going to be awkward, but it wasn't like it would make much of a difference anymore. His life'd been thrown upside down the last week as it was, just pile it up some more. The woman better cooperate a little.

'Vin-Vin...?' Rhian thought, loosening her deathgrip on her Mama for a moment upon sensing the little, almost timid, flares from the much older Essentic. Her bright blue eyes welled up with tears and she actually took a step or two away from her Mama, before hesitaating and returning to her side. Ellandra, noticing the odd (but encouraging) behavior of her flutterby, and watched her for a moment.

"You can go on ahead, Rhian, we're there anywya, just not through the gate." Said flutterby hesitated a moment longer, then pelted through the gate and to that (to her) reassuring source - Vin-Vin could keep her safe, would keep her safe. If Vin-Vin was here everything was alright. She would have called for him had she a voice left, but she didn't, so she simply sent out beacons of her Essence, calling out loudly "I'm here! I'm here!" to the Essentic waiting on her.

She couldn't have been clearer if she's sent him a letter in neon markers weeks beforehand, texted him an hour before and came hollering into a loudspeaker. Receiving her clearly, taken aback by the urgency he felt in her, Rugovin waited by the porch side quietly.

What's wrong, little Rhian, what's wrong?

He didn't even notice how his own worries seemed to slip right off him as he stood there, feeling as pressured to see her now as she appeared to be to see him. Again his essence gave off a few beats of encouraging pulses, beckoning her, welcoming, reassuring. I'm here Rhi, I'm here, come then if you need me.

... hope you don't mind me looking like a teen who had one too many hangovers.

Rhian paused only a moment as she took in Vin's....... rather different appearance before hurrying up to him, tripping over kittens here and there - goodness gracious where did so many kitties come from anyway??? - and barely stopped beside the big Essentic, peeking up at him with big blue eyes. She desperately wanted to hug him, but didn't want hurt and wasn't sure it would be safe to touch him.

Ellandra came up the walk more slowly, wondering who exactly this was that she could see looming over Rhian - it was no-one she knew, but someone Rhian trusted implicitly, judging by how relaxed she already was again. "Rhian? Flutterby? Who's your friend?" she called, and Rhia njust waved in response.

Theeere you are, mother Iris haven't you grown up into one ravishing young lady. What a sight for sore eyes.
It was a very good thing Vin had never ndulged in much female fancy nor flirting with said gender and had no shred of an urge to wolf-whistle. The man's as trustworthy and the neighbour's pet cactus in that respect.

What, hug, no hug? Okay, no hug then, alright alright, I know I don't look like anything you should be touching with a ten-mile pole, fair lady. He inadvertedly shifted half a step back from her to giv her some room, twinged when a short-arced spark ran over his leg again. Oh yeah, about that, too... Oh, hope you don't mind the scars and the... odd bumps in places where any sensible person doesn't have bumps.

"Hey..." so much for an eloquent greeting. He might have added more if not for Ellandra joining them, and he looked up, breaking his pale yellow bird-gaze away from Rhian's intense blue boggles. His feathers flustered down slowly, as if he was trying not to be conspicious. How precious, that's like an obese man trying to hide behind a street lantern.

Err.
Um.
"Hello." stop sounding hoarse already, I have NOT been drinking last night. "I'm... err." he looked down at Rhian, finding he actually hadn't the faintest about what to do now. He knew he'd asked her not to tell about him, but maybe give her a chance to try and explain first? Before he'd try and wiggle his way around the issue, at least. He hadn't actually noticed Rhian's recent condition yet.

Ellandra smiled at the tall feathered man - another Essentic? But he'd have to be. . . . . from before the hunt? A survivor? My goodness, the things the poor fellow must have been through, no wonder he was so scarred. "Hello there. . .. I'm Ellandra, Rhian's mother. It's nice to meet you, though Ican't say I know how you and fluttreby know one another. Still, it's a relief to see her happy, I've been so worried. . ."

At the comment, Rhian ducked her head, a bit ashamed, then satisfieds that it was safe to hug Vin, did so, rather snuggly and trying not to move her damaged antennae much. 'Granpa Vin-Vin, I missed you. . .'

"Oh, we.. Well, she ran in on me once..." No, not on me naked in the bathroom. He wasn't exactly glaring, but something in his gaze, however calm, made it clear he was mustering Ellandra and observing her keenly. WHY was it so hard to tell what story people made around him? First impressions were hard to gauge when you happened to be Vin. For one thing he couldn't tell if the lady was aware of what he was, but he had his suspicions that she was rather perceptive.

"I kindly asked her not to tell the whole city about me, I'm quite glad she didn't." he gave a dry cough into his fist at that. Yes, I requested your daughter too hold back some info from you. Go on and despise me already, I'm used to that. Then you can get right to the crossfire questioning without having to mind my feelings.

"Ah well... the name's Rugovin, milady." he gave her a calm nod. The entire 'I'm pleased to meet you'-deal he decided to leave in suspension for now.
"What happened to her?" There that slightly dangerous raptor-gleam was again, showing clearly as he laid an arm around his young little niece protectively. There there...

The room of the flower child was pitch black, absolute darkness reigning. He had placed potent wards on all the room's exit points, cutting off all sound and light from the outside. Here....he could concentrate. He even cut off the faint purple glow that usually emanated from his blindfold's many seals. He sat upon a pillow, motionless. He had been as such for the past eight hours.

Or, more accurately, eight hours, fourteen minutes and thirty-seven seconds; he was counting. All a matter of concentration, and keeping the mind from wandering. Sure he had countless itches that needed scratching, he was hungry as a starved bear and thirsty as three. Sure, the motionlessness somehow felt more painful than constant running, but...all worth it. He couldn't live with the thought of being as he was now...or as he thought he was. Inferior. Useless. If his magic was stronger, if he could concentrate on it more passionately, he could fix that. Never mind that no matter how much he improved he'd still feel this way...

Elst, on less angst-ridden thoughts, was busy working around the nursery, just like always. Only difference was he was now purposely finding heavier and heavier things to lift while he moved about; now that Longway was seeing more of his body, he figured it couldn't hurt to get a bit more muscle on his bones. At least the normal nursery work had done a pretty good job of keeping him strong so far. But in Elst's mind, Longway deserved better. So better she shall have.

Rhian tilted her head, bright blue eyes shadowing as she hid behind Vin, still clinging to him and burying her face in his side, not wanting to hear what happened to her recited in front of anyone. Fortunately, Ellandra spoke quickly and softly, a sad expression crossing her face.

"She snuck out into the city streets at night again and. . . was attacked. She's physically all right, but she hasn't spoken a word since..." The brunette eyed the kittens swarming around the porch and tried to avoid them, wary of cats near her while she was pregnant thanks to what had happened with the twins.

Listening to Ellandra's explanation quietly, Rugovin's expression darkened by the second. How DARE they harm his sweetest little nice, how dare they. His feathers flared up like a warning signal, glaring at nothing in particular, but he manged to keep from emitting more than just a few small sparks lacing around his crown. In the end he took a deep, controlled breath to get himself back under control before he accidently hurt someone, and patted Rhian's back with a heavy yet still gentle tap. Hush, lass, it's alright.

"... th'cats bothering you? They're pretty well-mannered... what with Timmie teaching them so well and all. Just don't let them scale your clothes, Elst keeps letting them do that." Having noticed Elle's awkward glances at them, he tried to change the subject. "Err... I suppose you didn't come here to stand around. Come in, I guess..." nudging Rhian lightly into following, he turned half around and beckoned them to come inside. All the while he did his best not to let himself slip into a limp again, feathers falling flat at the discomfort of forcing the movement again.

Rhian noticed the attempt at not-limping before Ellandra did, and grabbed at Vin's wrist, getting his attention and then pointing to his knee, looking up at him worriedly. 'Are you okay?' It didn't take a mind reader like Aoi to catch that message, it was written all oer Rhian's big blue eyes. What was wrong with Vin-Vin? Was he going to be okay? Could she help him - and - and what was that? She jumped, hearing an imaginary stalker somewhere in the shadows, just utterly convinced that someone was here to hurt hur, and she cowwered against Vin, hugging close and shivering.

Ellandra followed quietly, taking in the Essentic's appearance, and managed a slight half-smile for him. "Oh, I'm not really afraid of the kittens or anything, it's just that my children got sick thanks to a cat and I'm worried about it happening again." Pausing for a moment, she finally ventured a soft, "Life hasn't been kind to you, has it, sir? I do hope you can find some measure of peace here - I know it helped me...."
PostPosted: Fri Nov 06, 2009 7:34 pm

The sudden halt-stop, no matter how delightfully feeble it was, did put him off rhythm and made him cringe at the unplanned motion. Okay, what no- oh.

"... it does that. Hmm. Don't worry about it." No idea how I'm gong to fix it but trust me on this one, I'll make it work even if I have to grind down my own bones. Oh, what's she doing this time.

"Ah shushh..." he drew his arm around her again, holding her close and shielding her from whatever she thought was threatening her. "There's nothing nearby to hurt you, I'd know. Let's get you indoors hm, hun." poor girl. If he ever got his hands on who'd done this to her he was quite sure something would be popping off the person's neck. And it wouldn't be a collar button.

Just as he'd finally gotten her inside, her guardian spoke up again. "..... catscratch got to you? Damn, sorry to hear about that... " That did sound genuine, even if he was a little preoccupied with taking Rhian to 'the couch' for now, getting her to settle down there nice'n cosy. He'd been about to go dig around for a blanket for her and then go see if he could still pull of general hospitality -some tea and munchies never hurt anyone- Ella came up with that one.
Oh most redundant of redundant statements, was that ... pity? He quite fervently hoped not. Somehow her using that short word of honour soothed his stab of irritation though. It'd been a small era since anyone had...

"I'm no sir, I'm Vin. And I... I know you've been here for a while." Why yes, I regularly stalk around and s**t. "It's a good place to be at.... Elst is a good man." Okay, that sounded an awful lot like he was only being polite or making up excuses. He couldn't really believe hiimself when he tried to sound enthusiastic, still wary of this entire redomestication-act.

"Life isn't meant to be all about fuzzybottoms and cherrycake. I grew up issall..." way to sound like the embodiment of gloom, buddy. Overbalancing on his 'good' leg, he stiffly made his way to the kitchen after loosely dropping a fluffy blanket over Rhian. "Be right back mesdames."
