[I just saw War of the Worlds (2005) for the first time. Mom has read the book and gives the movie her stamp of approval. surprised She says the film managed to stay true to the book. 3nodding
-Has anyone else seen this movie? -What's your take on non-original movies (movies based on novels, comic books, videogames & re-makes of classic films)?
-What's on your list of movies to see this holiday season?
-Looking forward to any sequels, etc?
-Which books/comics/videogames/re-makes would you most like to see hit the big screen within your lifetime?
-Discuss anything else to do with this topic.]

So, to make the movie true to the book, yes, the alien invaders were destroyed easily. But that's the irony of it all! After all man's weapons of mass destruction failed, the aliens died because they were dumb enough to set up shop way back when, then not come back for a million years; by then, humans were immune to the organisms that destroyed the aliens so easily. wink 3nodding
I wasn't so sure about Aeon Flux...I mean, the cartoon on MTV wasn't all that fantastic...
You and your white chocolate-covered Oreos~! xd ]

One person told me he doesn't read or go to see "anything with an 'X' in the title." xd Personally, I like Marvel. That's what I grew up on and that's what I've stuck with. I've never read anything worth mentioning from DC, though; maybe I've read one book. But an aquaintance of mine tells me DC is best and he was explaining some of the plot lines from a series... I think I might actually like DC if I start reading the books. 3nodding

I too, am anxious to see how the HP movies turn out...but I need to catch up in the books~! xp ] It's already been said, but GoF did skip around a lot. There's a character who wasn't supposed to be there yet, but that's okay, since it tied up a loose end that a lot of folks might have complained about. I can't argue the skipping parts, though - the book was so big that they might have had a 3.5 hour movie (or longer!) if they'd put everything in it. eek And yes, you have to catch up on the reading. It's totally worth it. I'm still mad about the end of Book 6, but I just know JK Rowling won't let us down (she better not!)...

[I agree that The Dark Knight and The Man of Steel are great heroes, but X-Men had something completely different to contirbute to the superhero genre. 3nodding That's undeniable. I don't like Robin all that much...but he had a purpose when he was created and he's probably important to the development of Batty's character. 3nodding
@ Disruptive: ...I love Gambit... heart He's possibly my favorite X-Man. 3nodding
@ Kenai: I agree that the movie would have to be a little "choppy" because the book is so thick. I haven't finished it, or the book before Goblet of Fire... xp Glad to hear the books are a worthwhile read. I honestly actually don't read HP for the reasons most people do sweatdrop . It started out as the same reason I joined Gaia: people are very interesting to me, especaially the younger ones these days. It's interesting to find out what seems to catch their interest. I'm going to be a teacher afterall, and someday a parent, so I like to keep up on these things. 3nodding ]
