Sometimes days just didn't go as planned, or in this case Cass thought to himself with a bit of a smirk, mornings didn't go as planned - he'd had a fine time the night before. But it seems he's overstayed his welcome and by the look on the other stallions face Cass was pretty sure that his smirk wasn't helping any.

Wiping the look off his face almost as quickly as it had appeared Cass tried to smooth over the situation - for him anyways.
"Look man..how was I supposed to know she was part of your herd? She didn't say anything about it to me. Which I"m sure was just an oversight on her part"

Alright, so that last part probably wasn't the brightest thing to add on - but Cass really couldn't help himself, just like he couldn't help the fact that mares tended to fall for his charms.
"I don't want any trouble, I'm a good horse...a horse of peace" and love, he mentally added on, although thankfully he had the sense of mind to at least keep that to himself.

Servo really couldn't believe the gall of this stallion , here he was standing on the edge of his herdland, and the beast had the impunity to passively taunt him in front of his mare - the mare he'd come to fetch and found consorting with this blue-eyed devil.

Narrowing his eyes the chestnut pawed the ground and snapped his tail in irritation "Get home!' He thundered at the mare who was young and foolish - but thankfully still somewhat cowed by his authority. Seasons help him when she grew into herself a bit more. As the mare meekly slunk off towards the rest of the herd, Servo turned his attention back to the paint. "As for you...I'm just getting started with you" he announced before advancing with teeth bared and ears plastered to his skull

Yep..this day was definitely starting out badly and as the stallion advanced Cass blew out a sigh, he really didn't ant to end up fighting this guy - he was far bigger and far more experienced.
"Well...damn" was the only remark Cass could come up with before the stallion was on him and Cass was twisting away to avoid the snapping teeth.

Rowan hadn't been out of Hell for very long and was still getting readjusted to the sights, sounds and smells of the living realm again. Each rustle of the leaves, babble of the stream and sound on the wind made him stop and listen, curious about the new and yet oddly familiar sounds. He had took to wandering away from the herd to investigate some things, though he hadn't gone too far away from the herd. If he wanted to he could easily return to them, but for now he was content to just wander a bit more.

He stopped to smell some grass and flowers but the rope around his neck pulled on him and he lifted his head again. When would this blasted thing stop bothering him. It was then he hear a sound, he wasn't too sure what it was but it sounded like some horses. He glanced around him, though he didn't see any, and the herd as far as he knew was in the other direction. Curiosity got the best of him and he went to investigate, but stayed alert as there may be humans involved. Sticking his head out from a bank of trees he saw two stallions off in the distance and it looked like they were about to fight it out over something.

Servo was a bit irritated when the paint stallion twisted away from his first strike, his teeth clipping together on empty air rather then the soft neck of his opponent like he'd planned. Perhaps the sleek looking young steed was more agile then he had first appeared. this was not about to stop Servo however, the chestnut was well versed in fighting - had he not protected his herd from many young upstarts just like this painted wretch in the past?

Jerking his head back to avoid the retaliatory kick from the paint Servo cursed slightly and lunged in fury at the other, forelegs flailing as he tried to batter the paint to the ground.

Cass was not keen on sticking around long - fights were detrimental to his sleek and spotless hide. Contrary to the popular saying Cass was quite convinced that Chicks did not indeed dig scars - and he wasn't all that eager to get any and find out.

Thusly when the chestnut stallion pulled back for a moment to avoid his kick before lunging Cass took the presented opportunity to hightail it out of there, wheeling about to gallop off with a flick of his tail, it wasn't a moment too soon either as the hot breath of the lunging - thoroughly ticked off - chestnut leader was hot on his heels. the paint stallion made for the bank of tree's ahead of him, thinking that perhaps he could loose the angry beast in the brush.

He had nearly reached his intended sanctuary when the chestnut managed to overtake him again and Cass kicked out with his hind legs to fend him off before sliding to a flashy stop and spinning about to face him again. The two horses were now quite close to the treeline - and completely oblivious to the palomino hiding out in there.
"Now look here Pal..this is getting really tiresome, i don't plan on coming back for your precious little mare - so maybe you should head on home before some other stallion comes along and pick's her up..I'll be honest with you, she can't have been to happy if she was so willing to follow me about" Cass spat at the other between heaves of ragged breath - it might not have been the smartest thing to say - but he was getting tired of this fiasco and fervently wishing he'd managed ot get out of the area just a little sooner that morning.

Rowan watched the two stallions as they came closer to his hiding spot. He wasn't sure if they had seen him or not but so far it didn't seem likely that they did. He listened to the conversation that floated over to his ears as they stopped nearby. His head turned in the direction that his herd was for a moment, unsure of whether to return to them now or not. There were no humans here, not right now, he knew that from taking a deep breath, so it was safe, relatively speaking.

He decided to stay, mainly because he too had once been in a fight with a stallion over a mare. That was a long time ago and had been the cause of his death and continued suffering from the ropes around him. And yet he couldn't seem to look away, the fight interested him. He took a cautious step out from the trees to get a better look at the two stallions. He stretched his neck to adjust the rope around it but as always it only made it worse. He shook his head to remove that thought and concentrated on the fight, watching the stallions closely.

Servo was now spitting mad. He was angry at the mare ho had fallen for the paints witty words, and he was angry at the stallion for daring to come near his territory in the first place, but most of all Servo was angry with himself, there had been a time where he himself had been much like this paint stallion and it was this reminder of his old and loathed self which had driven him to such anger.

And it was those thoughts which kept him from paying attention quite as closely as he should have, the paints hooves came thudding back and Servo wheezed a little as they caught him in the chest, before he'd had a chance to catch his breath the paint had wheeled about and pat out his nasty little words. "You won't be going back to any mare" Servo retorted threateningly "Types like you never amount to anything in life, all you do run about causing trouble for everyone else - your useless and I'm going to do society a favor by putting you out of your misery" the chestnut concluded and ran forward even as he finished speaking.

His attack this time was well planned, Servo feigned an attack to the stallions right, before at the very last second shifting gears and weight to lunge at his left, sharp hooves and teeth lashing out to rend flesh from the painted stallions shoulder.

Well that was entirely uncalled for Cass thought to himself as the other spoke his thoughts, not that his own words had been necessarily nice - but was one mare really worth all this trouble? Cass didn't think so - and had he know just how this morning would unfold he might have left that particular mare alone.

The blue eyed stallion was watching as the chestnut charged and set himself to meet the right sided attack when a snap in the bushes behind them caught his attention - was there another horse in the woods? It was enough of a distraction that Cass missed the chestnuts change of direction and by the time he noticed it was too late to fully correct his mistake. Cass had just enough time to half rear and save himself the sliced up shoulder that his opponent had surely been aiming for before the momentum of the chestnuts attack - unchecked due to Cass's evasion - caused the red beast to plow straight into him and knock the painted steed backwards and to the ground.

This..Cass thought to himself right before plowing through the dirt with he chestnut looming over him - was not good. Not good at all.

Watching the fight suddenly got Rowan's adrenaline pumping. This image was so similar to the fight he was in before his time had ended. Without truly thinking about it Rowan galloped across the opening between the treeline and where the two stallions fought. He arrived just in time for the paint to fall to the ground. As the chestnut reared up to take a strike at his fallen opponent Rowan kicked out his front legs, hoping to knock the chestnut away from the paint.

"Why don't you return to your herd." He snapped at the chestnut, his voice coarse from the rope constricting around his neck. Though he had no real intention of fighting this stallion he couldn't ignore the buried down instinct to protect another in need. He would fight until one of them lost. It didn't matter if he lost, it would only mean he would return to Hell, if that was the case, then so be it. Should he win, he wouldn't really care.

Servo was caught off guard at the arrival of the Palomino and jerked backwards to avoid his flashing hooves, snapping his head around to eye this new intruder, anger glittering in his eyes. "Why don't you mind your own winter-cursed busin..."

The stallions voice trailed off as he finally got a good look at the paints rescuer, the Palomino had bloody twists of rope strung about his face and neck..and a sore on his flank looked - well it didn't look healthy thats for sure. "ugh..." The chestnut wrinkled his nose at the Palomino "you look half dead already - what makes you think you can beat me?" he snarled in disgust at the pale stallion.

Cass meanwhile had managed to regain his feet - and after taking quick stock of himself learn that he was fairly unscathed after his tumble, perhaps a little sore - but nothing that would outwardly scar his pretty little hide, and that was very important.

After ensuring that he wasn't horribly injured, Cass turned his attention to the situation still surrounding him, his rescuer - well helper, Cass figured he would have found a way out of this regardless - seemed to be facing off against the scorned chestnut, it was the look Servo gave the Palomino that caused Cass to give the other stallion another look. What on earth had happened to that poor beast?!?...was Cass's first thought, his second was that it was a crying shame because Palomino's were notoriously popular with the ladies and he could have used a good wing-man, his third was more of an 'ah well..at least hes not competition'...and there wasn't much time for further thought on the matter since Servo had apparently decided the Palomino wasn't much of a threat. Cass couldn't quite fault him for that - what with the othe stallions gasping raspy voice and bloodied pelt.

Only on this morning would he have the luck to run across a rescuer ho looked half-dead himself....

Oh well..have to make do with what your given the Paint told himself and drawing himself up into a proud stance gave the chestnut a cocky look.
"Two beats one bub..best be on your way then.."

Rowan looked at the chestnut and laughed at his comment. "Half dead? If only that were true." His gruff voice said. He didn't really see the point to trying to explain his appearance. He knew he looked like hell, it was quite fitting right now. He straightened his body, standing now at his full height instead of the hunched over height he normally carried himself at now. "You think you can kill someone who has already seen death. Win or lose I will continue on as is."

It was around this time Rowan noticed that the paint had gotten to his feet again. He noticed the look he gave him, yes he would have to get used to that look now that he had returned to the land of the living. It didn't bother him that much, more of an annoyance that anything, but surely he would not even notice them in time. He gave the paint a quick nod acknowledging his presence then turned his attention back to Servo. "The choice is yours. Either fight or return to your herd."

Servo glanced between the other two stallions, he was rather infuriated by the smug look on the paint's face, little tweerp wouldn't be half so cocky if his buddy hadn't shown up, what angered him further was the fact that the paint was right - it would be nigh impossible to fight one of them and hold the other one off as well. That was just asking for a beating.

He snorted "What the hell is that supposed to mean?"He asked the Palomino, although it seemed to be a rhetorical question since he didn't wait for an answer before continueing "Not that it matters... neither of you are worth my time" The chestnut stated before snapping his tail in irritation and turning to make his way back to his herd.

He stopped after a few steps and half turned to fix the paint with a wicked look "And you...don't you ever let me catch you even looking at any of my mares again..." He let the threat hang for a few moments before starting off at a jerky irritated trot.

Cass gave a slight chuckle as Servo left, though he smartly waited until the stallion was too far away to hear it to do so. Last thing he needed was the beast coming back again - and if he ticked him off enough Cass was fairly certain he would. The things he went through for mares...

Shaking his head slightly to resettle his mane Cass turned his attention to his strange companion, once more giving him a subtle..or not so subtle once over. He owed the stallion for stepping in on his behalf and Cass was aware that it was rude to stare - but it was hard to get over the Palomino's unique appearence and Cass - for maybe the first time in his life was somewhat unsure about how to deal with the situation. He cleared his throat slightly and decided it was probably best to just well...ignore it for the time being. Just treat him like any other fellow stallion for the moment.

"Dude did you see how ticked he was?..and honestly the mare wasn't all that great to look at, pretty sure...but hardly worth all that"Cass stated, when in the company of mares Cass tended to be a bit more classy, or at least he attempted to sound a bit more worldly then your average young stallion. When in the presence of other guys however all such effort went out the window and he reverted to the crude and sometimes childish exclamations that plagued young stallions everywhere.

Rowan was about to answer Servo's question when the stallion interrupted him and proclaimed them not worth his time. That was what Rowan had hoped would happen. Though he jumped in on the fight out of pure adrenaline he really didn't want to have to fight the stallion when it came down to it. He watched him turn to leave and then listened to his final comment to Casanova before finally retreating. He stood quietly for a while, merely watching the chestnut return to his herd. His tail flicked around as the chestnut went out of sight.

Rowan turned to look at Cass and once again caught him staring or perhaps trying to look like he wasn't staring at Rowans body. He sighed and shook out him mane, not that it really helped his appearance any, it was more out of habit.

"You really know how to get yourself in trouble don't you." Rowan replied to Casanova's statement. "Keep that up and you'll end up..." he trailed off for a moment, then continued "...looking like me." That was a lie, Rowan didn't look the way he did because of a fight with a stallion, or at least not the majority of his appearance was affected by that final fight in his life, but perhaps it would scare the young paint enough to be more careful in the future.

If Cass was embarrassed about being caught staring at the Palomino he didn't show it any, it seemed to him that apologizing for it would just underscore it even more and by the stallions attempt to hide things with his mane Cass was pretty sure he wasn't keep to talk about it just yet.

Cass couldn't blame him - if he looked like that he wouldn't want it pointed out to him all the time either. Of course if he looked like that he would have a hard time pursuing his current lifestyle and could very well be a completely different horse right now. Best just not to think about all of that.

"That?" He snorted slightly in amusement " That was nothing compared to some of the tangle I've gotten myself into, this time though - truly wasn't my fault...it was the mare who came up to me this go round" he bobbed his head slightly to accentuate this fact. He wasn't sure just how to respond to the whole 'look like me' comment so Cass just decided to let it go for now "I'm Cassanova by the way - but my friends tend to just call me Cass"
PostPosted: Thu Nov 05, 2009 11:18 am

His tail flicked around slightly as Cass tried to explain himself. He knew the story too well, he was once a young and naive like the paint. He glanced at the direction the chestnut had gone and then back to the paint. "Mares are nothing but trouble, no matter how good looking they are."

He snorted slightly when Cass told him his name, how appropriate he thought. "My names Rowan." He said, though he really didn't think the young stallion would care too much to know his name, he was probably already thinking about the next mare he might meet and Rowan really didn't blame him for thinking that. He would have asked if Cass lived around here but he already knew the answer to that from how they met, clearly he was a drifter, going where he pleased looking for ladies and then leaving to go someplace else.

Cass chuckled slightly at the stallions comment - he'd thought that exact same thing once or twice - generally after a fiasco like the one he'd just epirienced - but then another good looking mare would cross his path and Cass would be off an running again."Maybe so...but some troubles are worth it" Cass continued after a moments thought, and it was true as far as he could tell - what else would he do with his time, wander about aimlessly? Didn't seem nearly as exciting. Besides..he rather enjoyed the chase.

"So Rowan eh?" Cass hadn't heard the name before, but that wasn't anything new - he rarely stayed in one place long enough to get to know the locals, though he was fairly certain horses would talk about a horse like Rowan if they knew him and even a passerby would hear a hint of such a rumor. maybe he was new to the area as well. "Well I expect I owe you for saving my hide there, do you live around here by chance?" Cass was pretty sure he already knew the answer to that but it didn't hurt to fulfill curiosity and find ask.
PostPosted: Thu Nov 05, 2009 12:15 pm

Shaking his head Rowan looked at the other stallion. "You may think that now, but I assure you they are not worth it." He stretched his neck as he felt the ropes constricting force around his windpipe. Yes it did serve as a good reminder of his past mistakes. One of those mistakes was directly tied with trying to get himself a mare. He would not make that mistake again.

Snapping out of that particular thought he returned his gaze to Cass just in time to hear his question. "My herd is in the area, not sure if this is where we will stay or not." He wasn't even sure how far off his herd was by now, he had wandered quite a ways away from them. But they couldn't have gotten far yet. He choose to ignore Cass' comment about him saving his life. He didn't do it to save him, he did it because he felt the need to fight.

Ah so he was in a herd, that explained a few things Cass told himself and then furrowed his brow slightly - actually no, no it didn't. Cass didn't know much about herds - but he was fairly certain none of the ones he had stumbled across would accept a stallion like Rowan - sure he had fought well enough against Servo, but lets be honest here he really did look a sight for sore eyes.

"Really? a herd huh?..whats that like, living with the same group all the time I mean, doesn't everyone get annoyed and fight with each other?" Cass asked him and he was sincerely curious - sure he had no intentions of settling down anytime soon, but that didn't mean he wasn't curious about the lifestyle, I mean there must be something to it of so many others lived in herds. Something other then the obvious benefits of more protection that was.
