Though he didn't know it yet, Mikhail had gotten lucky. He'd woken with a terrible feeling the night before, but it had passed quickly enough, and he hadn't given it much thought. Tonight was different. He'd had a dream unlike any he'd ever had before, and it had been terrible - truly terrible. And when he'd come awake, there'd been a scrap of paper in his hand. He had no idea what any of it meant, only that it was Bad.
Once he'd had a few minutes to gather himself, the first thing to hit him was worry: was it just him, or was something going on? His worry, first and foremost, was for his friends, for Seung and Sei and Tzao. He was confident that the latter two could take care of themselves, though, and so the mothfish was first on his 'list' to check on.
He flew through the darkness to her home, but didn't bother knocking on the door and waiting for someone to answer - instead, he landed right on her balcony.

Seung wasn't quite awake after that nightmare. Instead, she was stuck at that point between waking and sleeping, desperately trying to wake up and terrified that she couldn't move, getting an earful from Ha-Neul in the meantime.
Whatever remnants from her former life, bits of memory and emotion, had been stirring lately and it was not happy that Seung's sleep was disturbed and invaded. "Shut up!" the Fa'e gasped, finally jerking awake. She sat up, feeling chilled and scared, fingers clenching around a scrap of paper. Confused, she turned on her bedside lamp to read it.
Before she could though, Seung heard a thump on her balcony. She flicked the lamp back off in panic. After all the last time someone landed unannounced on her balcony.... Oma said that the wards would keep anything harmful away from the house, but nothing was foolproof. She set the paper on her nightstand and grabbed the nearest blunt object she could think of, the small metal trash can and edged toward the balcony doors.

If Mik had taken the time to think about it, he might have realized that arriving unannounced in the middle of the night on a girl's balcony was not the best idea he had ever had. There was a light on, he could tell, so Seung was probably awake, unless she slept with the light on or something. Not that whether she was awake or not was particularly important.
...although he'd feel kind of bad if everything was just fine and he'd woken her up for no good reason. Tentatively, he knocked.

Seung hovered by the door, ready to brain anyone who tried to come through. Belatedly, she realized she really should be locking those doors at night. Too late for that now, if it was an intruder she'd have to smack them and scream bloody murder.
Then whoever it was knocked and she did nearly did scream. The trashcan jumped out of her hands and she flailed after it, trying to keep it from concussing her instead. It bounced back and forth in the air before she managed to grab it and clutch it safely to her chest. Then she realized she was hugging a trashcan and jerked it away to arms length.
Kidnappers and robbers usually didn't knock before entering, Seung realized. But who in the world would be out there now? Carefully, she turned the doorknob, letting it swing open so she could hold in improvised weapon with two hands, just in case.

Mikhail fidgeted while he waited, impatient, and considered knocking again, this time harder. Maybe Seung really was still asleep? But then the door swung open, and there she was...holding a trashcan? That threw him off, and he stared for a second. Long enough for the 'this is awkward!' to set in a little.
"Hey, um, is everything okay?" Maybe he should wait and see before he spilled the I-just-had-a-freaky-dream part.

Oh...
No...
Seung blinked rapidly at the "intruder," not quite sure what to do, still poised to hit him over the head with the trashcan. Or rather the shoulder as she couldn't quite reach that high on Mik.
"Eh..." She hurridly put the trashcan down, setting it out of sight before answering. "I...um...eh...yes?" she stammered, not quite sure what to do. Sorry, I thought you were a kidnapper, came to mind, but was probably not the best of options.
"Is something wrong?" She backed up from the door to let him inside.

Finally, Mik put it together. Had she been meaning to hit him with that? Seriously? He was indignant for all of half a moment before he remembered that it was the middle of the night and she hadn't been expecting him. At least she hadn't actually hit him, although he doubted it would have hurt much. Seung was pretty small, and probably not all that strong.
"Well, uh..." Great, how was he supposed to explain this? "I had this dream, and umm...I was worried." Belatedly, he realized that he was being invited in, and entered.

Seung felt chilled again and not because of the fall night air. "You too? Was it a nightmare?" Not that she really needed to ask; after all, what normal dream would bring him here in the middle of the night? She shrugged on her bathrobe before turning on the light.

"Yeah," he confirmed with a slight nod. Part of him was relieved that he hadn't come rushing over for nothing, but at the same time...well, it went without saying. He pulled the piece of paper from his pocket and held it out. "I had this when I woke up."

Seung one end of Mik's paper, mouthing the words as she read. "That...doesn't make any sense." Puzzled she pulled back. "I had a paper too, but I didn't read it yet." She went over to her nightstand, only the paper wasn't there. "I left it here!" She crouched down and lifted the bedskirt. Sure enough, the slight breeze and blown it under the bed. She read it quickly and held it out to Mik. Maybe he could make sense of them.

Mik extended his hand and took the little piece of paper, reading it as well. He couldn't help but make the idle observation that the paper scraps were kind of like the ones from fortune cookies...which was pretty stupid, so he kept that to himself.
He frowned. Seung's made even less sense than his did. "The writing's different." Obvious and not particularly helpful. "You think anyone else had the dream?"
It wasn't completely out of the question that it was just them, considering they'd shared a dream once before, but...this didn't feel or seem the same.

"It is?" Seung held her paper next to Mik's comparing the two. "You're right. Neither of them make any sense though." She'd hoped that maybe hers would make Mik's more reasonable. Obviously not.
"I'm not sure. It could be just us..." she replied, but her tone said she didn't think so. "We could ask?"

"Umm...we could call Sei and ask?" he asked after a moment of thought, then realized he hadn't bothered to grab his phone. He'd just thrown on yesterday's clothes - he really had been in a hurry - wait. He did have a a bad habit of leaving his phone in his pocket, then almost forgetting to take it out before throwing his clothes in the laundry. Mik bent, sticking his hand in one of the cargo pockets further down the leg of his pants, and came up with his shiny new cell phone. Falling in the pool had killed the last one. He flipped it open, only to find that he had a text message...from Sei! Ordinarily, he hated texting, but it was forgivable in this situation. He handed the phone to Seung so that she could read it, too. Quote: Are you all okay ? Ill be going around back and forth trying to figure out what's going on if any of you need me, Have any of you woke up with a piece of paper in your hand ?

Seung nodded. "Do you have his phone number?" she asked. Well, he pulled out his phone to call, so obviously he did.
She peered at the screen, blinking at the brightness. "I guess that answers that question..." Seung handed the phone back to Mik. "It's not just us, maybe it's all the Fa'e then. He made it sound like someone was in trouble."

Not wanting to leave Sei waiting any longer than he already had, Mik quickly borrowed Seung's paper again to take a picture of it with his. He then carefully tapped out a reply to send with said picture. He didn't shorten his words or avoid punctuation, because that bothered him. He might be slow at this, but at least he was precise!
"I should check with Tzao, too. Maybe he'll know something." The taotie would know something, right? He was definitely not text-able, though, as he had no cell phone.
The angel peered at his woefully short list of contacts...too short, actually. He hadn't re-added Tzao-Hyung yet. Great. "I'll have to go see him."
