 The sun rose, warming the chilly air. Leaves littered the ground and among them lay a white heap.
For days she flew, trying to forget all troubles so she could return to her cubs and assure them everything would be okay. But that'd be a lie. Everything was not okay, actually it was getting worse.
Annelise opened her eyes lazily and stared up at the Fall sky with sorrow, and took in a deep breath of the crisp air. She shook away old memories and stood up, feeling her wings weighing her down. For days she hadn't eaten, and it was finally taking its toll.

Maginus walked along slowly... so that nothing escaped his attention. He was not surprised to hear a lioness sigh. "What are you sighing about?" he said before he came upon her... so as not to alarm her. "Dear why are you laying down, and moaning about? Why have you starved yourself so?" his voice was rough... he tried to soften it.. as best he could but he just could not see why anyone would lay about wasting away for any reason.

Annelise heard the stirring of leaves and thoughts of her crazed mate flooded her mind. Maybe he'd finally come for her, she could only hope. But when she heard another's voice, Anne perked her head up. "I believe I'm dieing of a shattered heart," she answered in mummbles, not having much strength. "And it's becuase of a monster," she let out a blunt, cruel laugh and looked up at the appraoching male. "What brings someone like you here?" Anne asked curious. She hadn't met any other lions or lionesses for months as she tried to stay away.

"well that seems like a silly thing to do." Maginus said pointedly "it would seem to me that you should live more vicariously because of such a thing. although i must say, I do not know the heart of a woman... having never been attached to one myself." He looked at her... still standing "i was here to hunt. Most Avoid this area... so there is plenty of game, which is why i think you are foolish to be waisting yourself away like that."

"He wasn't always a monster, but that witch twisted his mind," Annelise picked up her head and managed to get into a sitting position. Her bright colored wings drooped to her sides and something lit inside her head at his words. "You're right it is silly, but what is a broken heart suppose to do?" she asked. Annelise scanned the area, her eyes moving across the landscape. He was right again, there was plenty of game here, she just hadn't noticed it. "Well then, would you mind me joining you on a hunt? I might slow you down, but I'll try to keep up."
Anne felt something return to her sanity, and she found the excitement of a hunt to be a good way for her to forget the past. "Excuse my rudeness, I'm Annelise. You can call me Anne, and to whom do I have the pleasure of meeting?" her voice carried something of a happy tone to it for the first time in months.

"A broken heart is supposed to mend love." Maginus was surprized he was being so kind to this one, his usual gruff nature had stepped aside for something more, soft. " My name is Maginus, and i believe a hunt with you would be a pleasure." he started to lead the way... remembering that he saw some gazelle not to far away... " I don't think the 'witch' as you called her would be able to turn something that wasn't already there. A man might gentle himself for a woman, but he will never change, for her, least not entirely."

Annelise gave a small smile and nodded, "Aye, that's true." Moving to follow behind him, Anne breathed in deeply to get a sense of the surroundings. Since that day, she had become more alert even if she had also become depressed. At his last words, Anne felt a stab to her heart. She didn't like hearing the truth but she had to accept it some day.
"Maginus, tell me something. Do you believe a monster lives within any lion?" Anne had been curious. She had a dark past behind her and a creature she cast away a long time ago, but it bugged her not knowing.

" I do, but i also believe its the Duty of oneself to control ones demons. and for others to walk away when a lion, or lioness, cannot do so." he turned and looked at her " You should not have to suffer because some one is so foolish. Nor should you feel responsible for anyone that acts thus.." he continued on his path, seeking the trails of the gazelle.....He did not like talking so much, but felt perhaps this lioness needed a bit of... wisdom. He did not like to see any being suffer.

((Sorry for the delayed reply . . . I've been busy certing pets for another shop. And I have no idea who Tommy Lee Jones is >.<))
"Hmm, I have to agree. But it's hard to let go,"she said nothing for the longest time and let his words sink in. He was right and as much as she hated to admit it, she had to walk away for good. She was hoping her mate would come back, but that hope was dead and she knew it for some time. "Thank you Maginus. You are a wise one," Anne turned to him and smiled. "So how many gazelle do you think you can take?" she asked with some feel for life back in her voice.
