Salem looked around curiously as he walked onto the grounds. He had little Cato in a harness against his chest. He had applyed to teach a Care of Magical Creatures class to the mishaps, but he had yet to be contacted back about that... He hoped he would get the job. He already had lots of kids from his own adoption home wanting to do it. He had decided to take a look at the farm area sense he'd been told this is where he would be having the lessons if he was hired. This looked pretty nice. "Look Cato! It's a cow!" He pointed into the first stale just after the fish tank.
Cato still clung to his teddy, blinking odd double eyes as he looked at the thing that his adoptive father pointed at. What was that thing...?

Sitting on a stool by the barn, reading a book quietly was Catherine. Her short dark brown hair swayed quietly in the wind as snow peacefully fell to the ground. Pushing up her glasses from the end of the bridge of her nose she looked over towards the vegetable patch. Adjusting the scarf wrapped around her neck she watched as Baxterfullous was teaching Aphrodite her first lesson with magic.
" Magick is all around us. It's one of the many fundamentals of life." It was odd to see Baxterfullous in a cat fitted snow suit.
"Foo da man dells? " Asked the tiny mishap sitting ontop of the black cat's head. Dressed as best she could for winter, enough room for her wings in the back and even a little hat to cover her head. The word tickled her tongue, boy was that hard to say.
"... " That took him a moment, he stiffened slightly with the cold wind. " Fundamentals.. or basics."
"Oh." She said, though it still flew over her head.

He blinked as he heard his uncle. Oh. He hadn't noticed they were here. "Hey Cath-Baby! How're you doing Aph? Uncle Baxter you old git, what you tryin' ta do?" He smirked down at his Uncle, his own tail twitching lightly. He so loved to annoy his uncle to his wits end. It was just so much fun.
Cato on the other hand was still transfixed by the thing in front of him. This thing was just standing there... Was it even alive...? Oh! It moved! Alright. So it was alive. And... It drools too apparently. He watched the thing for a while before looking over to the people Salem was talking to. Who were they?

"He's Aphrodite's teacher." She smiled at him almost amused. "He was my teacher and my mother's teacher and etc etc.." She laughed closing her book, standing up to walk to him.
Sighing, he continued. " ... Magick is something special my dumpling. It's what's inside you.. me.. and everyone. Sometimes people have more magick than others."
That she understood. "I gots magies in me?"
"Yes."

"He's right Aph-cutie. Everyone has magick inside them, but not everyone can use it. Bax there is my Uncle. He knows how to use really really big magic and even though I'm related I can't use any by myself. Only some special people can use it like Uncle Bax and your Mommy." With that he let eased off and allowed Baxter to continue his lesson. It wasn't his to teach, but it was a point he was sure had to be made anyway. Despite how bad he was to his Uncle all the time he knew very well that the old man knew what he was doing so he left her in his capable... Paws...? Turning his attention back to Catherine he smiled. "Heh. I wanted to get a look around here. I applyed for a teaching job here and this is where I would be holding the lessons. If I'm hired of course... Only time will tell I guess. I'm also showing Cato the animals. That's a cow, Cato. C-OW. Cow." He pointed at the lazily grazing animal again.
Cato looked up at Catherine for a moment. He remembered her... He thought... Hm...? He turned back to the thing as it was pointed out again. "C... Cohhhh...."
"Heh... Close enough..." He chuckled softly at the effert that has needed. "He's started trying to talk. You have no idea how happy I was when I realized some of his babble actually had meaning. Now I'm just trying to get him to say the words right. I doubt he'll get it that quick, but you never know with kids.

" Hi Hi Saaay" The tiny toddler waved from atop of Baxterfullous's head. She then blinked, nodding a bit with a smile. That she understood too. "I wanna do what mama does!"
"Salem's right, and I think you are one of those special people Aphrodite and you'll be able to master magick like your mother, just like your unmangable friend with that nasty temper."
"Deimos?" She blinked, she had a feeling it was him he was talking about.
"Yes, him." He sighed, amused for a moment watching his own breath for a moment. " Any questions so far my dumpling?"
"Wy only speckal peoples can do magies good?"
"Hmm...Sometimes, magick is stronger in some people than in others, it something that can't be explained very well without alot of arguement from older more irritable wizards. You can't guess who's going to be a special case, you just find out. "
" Oh." So it was random, how weird.
"Do you understand?" He looked up at her.
She nodded. "Yes yes!" She looked about at the falling snow. "What's the white stuff fallin from da sky?"
"It's called snow. It's rather complicated to explain what it is exactly, but to be simple it's like rain, but it only happens in the winter. It's also very cold."
"Ly rain?" She held out her hands trying to catch a flake. Suceeding, but it melted in her tiny mitten covered hands. It was wet, like rain, but cold when it touched her exposed cheeks. "Ly rain, buh cold." She concluded. Looking around she wanted to romp around in this... snow. "Can we play Bax?"
"Why of course, you've learned enough for right now, I think it's time to take a break. After you play we can have lunch."
"Oo!" She clapped happily, buzzing her way into flight and then landing on the ground, sinling into the inch high snow. "Eeek!" She flew up and out of the pile she fell in. "Snow!"
"I want to try out being a teacher, but I'm not good at very much." She shrugged. "I could try teaching divinations... but it doesn't seem like a calling.. maybe I can teach creative writing." She laughed a bit. leaning against the fence that lead into the small cow pasture.

"I think you could teach some form of magic. Well..." He lowered his voice so that his Uncle couldn't hear. "To be honest, no offence of course, I think that Uncle Bax would make a great Magic teacher. There aren't many as powerful, nor as knowledgable about the stuff and he's surprisingly good with kids. I think it would be good for him to socialize, but I don't know if the old bat's still got the patience for it. Up to him really." He raised his voice to it's usual volume again, "I think Divination would be good for you though. Don't know just how many students you'd have though. Unfortunatly Divination is a gift thing so if they don't got it they're not gonna learn it. Hmmm... Maybe you could go with the main stream magic and include magical items. I could hook you up with some cheap. I'm sure you've noticed all the magical stuff I have at the Home. I didn't always have Duke around, before him I got my things from an old wizard. Still do really. Can't have Duke do everything right?"
"Daahhh.... DaaaaaAAHHH!!" Well... When Cato wanted attention he got it didn't he...? "Dahh.. Ahhh..." He opened his mouth real wide almost like a baby bird. It was actually kinda cute.
"Hmm...?" He looked down at his multi-armed baby. "Oh, you hungry, Cato?" He smiled, it was just so cute when he opened his mouth and begged for food like that. "Why don't we go eat by the fishies, Cato? You coming Cath-Baby?" He smiled at her as he walked away slowly to give her a chance to keep up. He'd wanted to take a look at the tank anyway. It would be interesting if he could bring some merfolk or a kappa or some other water based creature some day. Sitting himself down by the tank he gently sat Cato down on the ground and started to pull out blood flavored baby food and a spoon. Taking out a bib he carefully tied it around Cato's neck and opened the bottle, taking a spoonful and gently trying to feed it to the spider baby.
He smiled as he got his point across. Yay! Food! He happily clapped all three sets of hands as he sat, waiting to be given his food. Hm... What was he pulling out...? Oh, no... Not that stuff! He liked it when it moooooved!! Not like this!!! He quickly turned his head away as the spoon came near his mouth. "Nuh!"
Great... He knew it couldn't have been that easy...

A high pitched neigh sliced through the air, possibly disturbing any calm conversations that were currently going on. The source? A hanoverian foal housed in the stables nearby. The black colt neighed again, followed shortly afterwards by another equally loud whinny by a chestnut quarterhorse filly as two figures, totally mismatched in height, appeared from the barn, the taller figure carrying quite a large amount of baled straws.
"Hmm? Hey look, Jay! There are others here!" Rex shifted the straw he was carrying and waved at the small group of people, mishaps and cat.

" You'd be surprised on how capable he is, even though he's not at the home right now, Fango is holding fort with Elizabeth. Duke took Garreth and Nariko out for ice cream while Aprhodite was having her lesson." she shrugged thinking it over. "He already took Deimos as a student! ... I think I might bring up the idea with him - Holy Canolie! " She covered her ears at the high pitched shriek that echoed throughout the small farm scaring all the birds away.
Aphrodite ignored the shriek, she's heard worse. In the middle of rolling a small snowball, that grew larger with the passing minutes. Looking up she say the large dinosaur mishap. "Hi!" She neglected her small snowball on the floor, buzzing over towards him, settling down on the hay that was in his arms. "Whoo, you biggums!" She giggled pointing up at him.
Baxterfullous's ears lowered as he surpressed a hiss. "What a noise... how atrocious." He looked up at the over towering child. "Ah, I remeber you, though I doubt you remember me... you were smaller the last time I saw you. It's amazing how children go through such sparadic growth spurts." From where he sat on the floor, he leapt, sitting on the stool that was originally occupied by Catherine's posteirer.

"Yes, I'm big." Rex beamed down at Aphrodite, picking her up gently in his hands and perching her on his shoulder. The boy then disappeared into the stables and reappeared seconds later, free of straw. He scratched his head and looked from Jay to the stables, then to Catherine and gang, torn between wanting to help out with the foals and joining the others.
"It's okay, you go and have fun, kid." Jay smiled to the boy and nodded to Catherine, Bax, Salem and Cato, before vanishing into the stables. The equine noises subsided immediately.
"Thanks Jay!" Rex grinned and took Aphrodite in his hands again, looking her over as he made his way towards the others. "You grew too, Di. How're you?"
Rex settled onto the ground, shivering a little as the snow chilled his skin but that was that. Thanks to his size, he was in the least cold. Coll, maybe, but definitely not cold. Looking up, he smiled at Bax though, like the cat said, he didn't really remember him.

"Oo.. I'm okies, Bax teaches me about magies. He said it's everywhere and stuff." She giggled as she climbed her way down to the ground, continueing to roll up her snowball. "But now we play because we did lots of wroks! I rollin' a snow kada-maries now." She beamed as it did increase with size as she rolled around Rex & King in a circle.
" She's become a bit addicted to video games, she really likes that bizzarre game." Baxterfullous's eyes shined a bit as though he smiled, a rare thing if you knew him well. "My name is Baxterfullous, I remember you as the scone sneak from the picnic a few month ago." He took note of the shiver. "...if you're cold Catherine brought towels and blankets, would you like one to sit on and one to warm up with?"

"Really? Cool! I'm learning too, but mostly normal schoolwork stuff..." Rex shuddered, and pushed it into a corner of his mind. "Kada-maries?" The boy peered at the snowball rather blankly at first, before his eyes twinkled. "Oh! Mom has one real one at home, she keeps it locked up in a glass case, so I don't get to play it." Hmph.
"Baxterfullest?" Rex's cheeks went slightly pink at the mention of the scones- apparently he had been sighted by someone else. "Nice to meet you."
Looking down at his feet(and the snow around him), Rex shook his head at Bax's offer and smiled at him. "No need, I'm okay like this. Thanks for the offer though."

"Charmed, I assure you." His eyes shined once more, though you could not see it he smiled.
"A weel one! " she hopped up and down for a moment. "So cool... Bax makes me wite lines when I'm bad." She continued to roll her snowball around him in a circle. "How be you Rex and Mr. King. " she wiggled a bit as she hummed as she worked, now it was nearly twice her size.

Holy crap that was a big kid... He'd raised dragons before so large size was something he was used to, but he hadn't expected that here. Wow... "Uh... Yeah... That would be cool. Oh, come on Cato! It's just like the stuff you eat at home, but it doesn't move. Please, Cato? It's really good, I mean it!" He could only pray that the little spider mishap would do as he was told. Ha... Fat chance...
Sure enough he still turned his head away every time the spoon came near, "Nuh! Nuh! NUUUUHHH!!!" He slapped the spoon out of Salem's hand and it flow off, landing a good way off considering. A few feet away the snow was splattered with blood and a spoon stuck out of the little snow there was.
"Cato! No! You don't do things like that!" He snatched up the hand the child had used to slap the spoon and gave the back of it a lite smack. "That was bad, Cato! You don't do that!"
He... He hit me... THAT'S IT!!! "AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" He flailed out the rest of his arms and started to slap his adoptive father as hard as he could. That'll show him!
Salem quickly put down the bottle of bloody baby food and had to use both hands to catch all of Cato's. The baby had lots of them after all and he was surprizingly strong for such a little thing. "No,Cato! Bad! You don't hit Daddy!!" He continued to hold onto the little hands with a firm, but not painful grip. He offten had to do this to teach the child not to hit. There did seem to be a little progress, but not much sadly...
Cato wailed at the top of his lungs, struggling vainly to get loose. His double eyes clentched shut as tears streamed down his cheeks from all four of his eyes. He wiggled his whole body, but he couldn't get his little arms free. This only made him wail louder...
