Ebony was sitting at home, having just finished up doing the laundry. Her short pink hair was under a bandana and she was presently folding things for her siblings. Really, it wasn't a necessary chore but after giving up on babysitting as a job for now, she needed something to do with her time.
On her hip was still the cellphone she used for such calls. It hadn't rung lately but she kept it out of habit. Little did the teen know she'd be getting a call from a former customer on it.

Vinny was feeling extremely shy. His brother had pressured him into calling their old babysitter. "Come on, you thought she was pretty, didn't you? You need a girlfriend, Vinny!" Of course, Josh was really just pressuring his younger brother because he knew he had that power over him. "Come on! I know you like her!"
It was true that Vincent had thought Ebony was pretty the last time he'd seen her; but that wasn't saying much, seeing as lately he'd found every girl to be pretty. With the exception of his mother and younger sisters. They were beautiful. Just not in the potentional date kind of beautiful. He reluctantly dialed the phone number on the babysitting add. "Hi, Ebby? It's me, Vincent."

Ebony blinked, setting down the laundry to answer her phone. "Vincent? OH! Vinny! Hello. How're you?" she greeted him warmly after remembering who he was. Nice boy, he and his brother had been sweet when she'd sat for them - they'd even been thoughtful enough to call a sitter since their mom needed rest. A sweet duo really.
Quickly, and with one hand, she finished what she was doing with the laundry and moved to sit down. It was bad to talk on the phone while distracted.

Joshua had to nudge his brother to get him to continue. Vinny frowned at him, before focusing on the task at hand. If he'd known this would be this difficult, he wouldn't have dared to call.
"Uh... Well I'm good. How are you? And um... Well..." He paused, blushing furiously. He was extremely glad of the telephone line that seperated them. "Uh. Do-you-wanna-go-out-wit-me?" He said this all in one breath, he was so flustered. Part of him hoped she said no. Then Joshua wouldn't pester him about never having asked a girl out. He would have been able to at least say he'd done it.

"Oh I'm all right," the girl responded pleasantly before pausing at his sentence. Wait, had he just asked her out? Carefully, so as not to sound like she was rejecting him, the girl asked, "Did you just ask me out?" the teen inquired, voice gentle and reassuring. No need to scare him off after all.

"I'm glad and..." He blushed, and was again grateful that she couldn't see him. "Yeah, I did." Still hoping she might say no, he crossed two clawed fingers. He paused when he noticed Joshua's fingers were also crossed. Though they were more than likely crossed for an entirely different reason than Vinny's were. How annoying. His own brother was against him in this!
It wasn't fair. Why was Josh pushing him to do this? He hadn't even gotten over 'Zuba yet... Yes, he still had a crush on her; even though she'd beaten him to a pulp.

Ebony smiled pleasantly on her end of the phone. Aw, that was sweet of him. She'd never been asked out like that before. "Sure, I'd love to, Vinny." the teen replied pleasantly, "Where would you like to go?"

Vinny was surprised. So surprised that he nearly dropped the phone in shock. "You will?" His voice went an octave or two higher, which made his older brother snicker. Vincent shot a scowl at him. "Well... Um. I never really thought of where we'd go..." He confessed. Honestly, he hadn't thought further than asking her.
"Where would you like to go? To a movie, or something?"

"Sure." she agreed again with a warm smile. He was obviously new to this. "How about we go for lunch and then to a movie? I'll pay for lunch and we can just go see what's playing, hm?" the girl suggested, trying to reassure and coax Vinny so he didn't feel he was doing things wrong or that this was a bad idea.

"Okay, I'll pay for the movie," Vinny said with a smile. His mother had already giving him the lecture about not being cheap enough to go dutch, but Ebby had suggested it, so... It must not have been a bad thing, right?
With her reassurances, he was starting to feel slightly more confident. Which was saying a lot, since he was a child of the angel of humility. He felt better about it, anyway. "Um. What kind of flowers do you like, Ebony?"

The girl blushed a little and smiled again. Aw! He was so sweet! "Oh I like any kind." Ebby assured him with a nod of her head that she forgot he couldn't see. "Would you like to come by and get me or shall we meet somewhere?"

"Do you like roses?" Vinny asked. He felt stupid almost immediately after asking, of course girls liked roses. Mom liked them. "I'll get you a red one, then." Girls liked red roses, right? He hoped so anyway. He'd drop by the flower shop before their date.
"Um. Well... My mom could drop me off at the movie theater, if you could meet me there?" He was a little embarassed admitting that he needed a ride from his mom.

"Yeah. As I said, I like all sorts of flowers." she agreed with a nod, "Though, if you're bringing me something like that, you should probably get dropped off here so I can put it in water and it won't get ruined while we're out." she explained, "My brother can drive us to the restaurant though."

"Alright, I'll have my mom drop me off by your house..." He paused for a while, before realizing he didn't know where she lived. "Um. Ebony? Can you tell me your address?" He got a pencil and a paper out so he could write it down. "So I can give it to mom. She might get lost though, she always does." This was true. The elf had a uncanny knack for getting lost.
"Is your brother very nice?"

The girl smiled, giving her 'date' the address. "My house is easy to get lost on the way to but super easy to see. Just look for the castle, you'll find it." she laughed.
"Who Bailey? Yeah, he's a sweetheart, don't worry."
