I wonder where J.K gets all her lingo from ex. snogging. Where did it come from!!!

A lot of the words like 'snogging' that she uses in her books are words that are used in Great Britain. They use 'snogging' instead of 'making out.' I actually prefer most of the British words that she uses in her books. So words like that aren't made up. They're just words that are specific to Great Britain.

All of the strange words are from Great Britain. I wish we could use them without making fools of our selves. For example, I like "bloke" instead of "idiot" and "Bloody Hell" instead of "Oh my God." Also, "muggle" is a term referring to someone that is boring; it actually is in the dictionary.

The other words, like the spells, come from her imagination.

No, "bloke" means the same thing to Brits as "guy" does to Americans. It's a slang term for a male.

That's cool about "muggle," isn't it? cool

Almost all of the spells and potions have Latin translations. For example, "accio," the Summoning Charm, truly means "to summon" in Latin.

Bloke is a guy...not idiot. And the spells are almost all latin. Lumos actually means lights and accio like what Minerva said means to summon.

oops sweatdrop just looked it up. here is some of the definition.

bloke

"fellow," 1851, London slang, of unknown origin, perhaps from Celt. ploc "large, stubborn person;" another suggestion is "Gypsy and Hind. loke "a man."
