Physiologists, such as myself, though scientific as we may be, have a very fine line understanding of this.. very abnormal state of the human body. There are some that believe that a demon comes to a hypersensitive(a person who is acute with the presence of God and spirits) and possess their body to do unspeakable things. Some even recount being possessed by MULTIPLE demonic entities.
The science world likes to claim these unexplained phenomenon as natural occurrences in the human body such as, hysteria, mania, dementia, epileptic seizures. All of which can be cured by medications that cut off the sensory nerves in one's emotional brain.
The question is. What do you believe? Are you a scientist who believes there is always an explanation having to do with medicine, or are you the one who knows without a doubt, if there is something good, such as God, there has to be something equally grotesque and evil, like demons?

Me? I fall somewhere between a science-minded skeptic and whack job demon hunter. Asking me what I believe is a really open ended question. Do I believe in possession? To an extent. I am more inclined to believe the root issue is something in the mind. That said, I feel there are some things that can not be explained.
I feel like I'm going to start babbling here.. I'd love to continue the discussion I just don't want to ramble.

I agree with Lilith. While I like to believe that there can be explanations for everything I'm not that foolish. The world is a big place and there are too many odd things to be ignored. Of course, I don't believe in the popularized possession stories in which heads spin and people walk on walls, but I certainly believe that it's possible for an evil spirit (whether it be internal or external) to invade one's normal being.
I study Psychology too so I guess I'd have to say that I believe it's all in the mind, but how it gets into the mind...that's something that we still can't answer.
