We are going to state in about a week, i think(Nov. 7) We went last year too.

Unfortunately, we got disapointed last year and everyone still thinks we got ripped off. The band that got a superior with distinction did not deserve it. We deserved a superior, but we only got an excellent. People weere crying. Lots of people were crying. Especially seniors.

We will do better this year. I know it. We all know it. We just have to keep working as hard as we have been. And now that it is getting cold, we have to work even hrder. This morning at rehearsal we were half frozen, half falling apart from pain. 45 minutes at attention, marching, lunging, plieeing(balletXD), and sliding. And running. We did a nice big lap around the practice fields to stretch.

Haha, that sounds like our rival bandXD The one I said in that last post hthat didn't deserve a superior with distinction.

This year is the first year of state championships, where we are ranked not rated. The top 10 bands at state go. we are going! We got an excellent at normal state. We thought we deserved a superior at first until yesterday,w hen we lsitened to the visual judge's tape. You could hear us in the background. Overplaying, unarticulate,, agressive on pretty parts. Basically, we stunk. But we got top 10! And then our rival band didn't get top 10. band made fun of us and got a good. We are one of only two bands in out city/area to go to championships. and the second is devision 1 we are division 3. And our BD told us today that we are getting coach buses instea dof school buses! Yay not letting our district be idiots!

Side story: Our district is stupid. For away games they make us share two buses with cheerleaders. Last saturday they decided to try and fit 80 people on a bus that seats only about 30 people comfortably, without uniforms(two hours away, so we had hat boxes and arment bags with us)It took them an hour to get us a second bus when we proved them wrong almost 40 people. We laughed at the district rep's face when we all game out. eek Literally, that is what it looked like.

We had state chmpionships today. It went okay, ut could have been better.

We got 8th place, with 50.1 points. Kind of disapointing, seeing as we were rated out of 10. There were 10 bands there. And we have a feeling the judges were a) biased, because they came from the city the competition was in, and all the other bands but us were also from said city, or b) the other bands bribed the judges. The #1 band didn't do well at all. If I had been judge, I would have at least put everyone 1 place up, and put the band that got the 1 spot at #9. And the band in 5 wouldn't have gotten nearly as high. There was 21 winds, the rest were guard and pit, and basically they did visuals with noise(I say noise ebcause it can't be called music) The 2 spot deserved 1. They were far better then the band that got 1. A lot of bands were better then #1. Said second place band was sitting next to us.

Ah, another year of getting ripped off...>.>

The only thing that made us all feel better was when we stopped for lunch and our bd told us exactly how many bands in our state are in our division, division 3. Around 70. So, 8 out of 70 is really, really good. And then #2 in city, #1 in division in city. Only 2 bands in our city were good enough to make it to championships, and the only other was a division 1.

We (LEWIS CASS) got first place at band state! ^^ All of the band members started crying. (So did Guard.)

(I'm in 8th Grade at Cass. I'm doing marching band next year. XD whoot whoot! Band camp!!!!!)
