With all the new Winiko showing up lately, it was getting harder and harder to find a place that was devoid of paws, fur, and horns. Still, the bloody, winged one was making a hell of an attempt at it. Even if he was having little luck so far. At least he'd managed to ditch the ones at 'home' today. So, for the moment at least, Rahab was peacefully alone, for as long as it may last. That didn't seem likely around here, but he'd take what he could get. Blood-stained claws tapping against the floor, he eyed the oddly-empty HQ and wondered passively where the usuals might be. Obviously, preoccupied with something, hopefully for a good long while. He folded his tattered wings against his back, finding an overstuffed chair in a corner to climb onto and curl up comfortably. It wasn't often he was allowed such comfort in peace, and he, if only briefly, allowed himself a soft sigh of relaxation.

Leela was surprised; her bond, a woman named Elros, had accepted her without batting an eyelash at her appearance. If anything, the catgirl seemed fascinated by her eye. It had made Leela feel a little uncomfortable but there was this trace of a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Finally, some acceptance. Spectre, Elros' other bond, had acted a little more predictably, but still it had been strange. At first, he was shocked by her appearance but then he rallied and offered her candy and some tips on how to terrorize El. His familiar, Shade, simply tried to nest in her hair. Reeling a bit from it all, Leela almost hadn't heard when Elros suggested she visit the Winiko HQ.'You might enjoy yourself,' she had said, smiling.Highly doubting that, since she was likely going to run into someone, Leela had obliged and, following El's directions, went in search of the HQ. When she got there, she took a deep, slow breath then let it out as she opened the door. Naturally there was someone there and, naturally, the door had chimed, alerting the winiko already there to her presence. Shaking her hair forward so her single eye wasn't so painfully obvious, Leela stepped in and padded over to the nearest chair that also happened to be as far away from Rahab as possible.
"please don't notice me, please don't notice me," she quietly repeated to herself.

The chime was like a warning bell...or perhaps more like a warning alarm, loud and annoying and making the winged Wini tense with dread. At least, that's what it seemed like in his head, despite what it may actually sound like to other Winiko. Stifling an instinctual growl, Rahab opened one eye to see what new pest had arrived to ruin his peace and quiet. From the look of her...a hair monster? Okay, so her hair was in her face, at least somewhat, but at least it wasn't some bratty kid again.
Last time, he thought he might have to kick the brat across the room, since his parents didn't seem to care much who their spawn was leaping and chewing on. Wasn't good for the kid's safety.
At the moment at least, he continued to watch the other Wini warily. She showed no signs of pointedly going out of her way to pester him, which was a good sign. The male shifted slightly, wings readjusting against his back at the movement. He made no effort to hide his observations, opening his other good eye to track her as she made her way towards a chair on the opposite side of the room. As he was used to, he stayed silent, watching others and gathering knowledge through observation alone.
He wasn't blind...not in all his eyes at least...and he'd noticed the female's...peculiarity. But really? He'd seen stranger things around the HQ than that, and really, one odd feature didn't seem that important to make a fuss over. So he watched her like any other Wini, gauging her threat level in regards to his peace and comfort.
Current behavior was placing her on the "Low Threat" level.

'Oh god, he's watching me. Ohgodohgodohgod...' Leela cringed, trying her best to ignore him, but he just kept watching. Paranoid now, Leela didn't even get in the chair, instead she stood, bouncing lightly on her toes, trying to decide whether or not to run. Running sounded good right about now. But wouldn't that call more attention to her? Indecisive, Leela just stayed where she was, torn between fleeing and hiding in the chair. Trembling slightly, she glanced at him then quickly away. Why'd he have to keep staring at her? Had he seen her eye? Was he even now thinking up some cruel remarks to throw at her?

Okay, honestly, observation alone could only provide so much information. There were some questions that could not be answered simply by staring at people. Not many, but some.
What was with this woman? He'd thought she was going to take a seat, but all of a sudden she'd seemed to change her mind, growing antsy as if she was prey being stalked by a predator. He didn't see anyone else around. Did she think she was being followed or something?
It never occurred to him that HE might be the source of her anxiety. Afterall, he didn't even know her.
Finally, he got bored with mulling the idea over himself and if he settled the issue quickly, maybe he could get back to his nap. "Hey," he called out, not loud in the slightest and sounding bored, touched with a hint of curiosity.
"What exactly are you doing?"

Leela had not expected him to speak to her so, when he called out, she jumped violently, her hair on end. Frantic, she looked around, trying not to look directly at him but, eventually her single eye settled on the strange male.
"Uh, nothing. I'm doing nothing," she answered, managing somehow to keep from stuttering. This is why she had not wanted to come to the HQ. Though not much for violence, Leela would seek vengeance on Elros for this..

Nothing? Well, that was a boring, and obviously untrue, answer. Even if she wasn't doing much outwardly, something had affected her inwardly. Enough so to change whatever actions she'd previously planned on making anyway.
"Other than twitching like a mouse with a cat in the room," he commented idly. His tail flipped lightly, his two good eyes fixed on the female as he thought. Obviously, she wasn't going to out and tell him anything. He'd still have to figure it out on his own, depending on her reactions.
"So, nothing. You came to the HQ to do nothing then? Exciting life you got there."

Leela didn't like the analogy he used since it rang all too true. Yes, she was acting like a mouse but didn't he realize that made him the cat? Frowning she dropped her eye and studied her feet, hoping that he'd just leave her alone. But it seemed she had piqued his curiosity..
"Yes, nothing," she told him flatly, irritated by his sarcasm. It wasn't any of his business why she was here or what she was doing. Just who did this guy think he was? Frowning harder, she looked at him again, hoping to convey just how much she didn't want to talk to him in her expression. Or maybe it would encourage him to get out whatever insults he might have in store and finally leave her be.

Rahab nearly smirked...nearly. The trembling mouse was getting angry. How amusing. He met her singular gaze without hesitation, still pondering this mystery. The way things were going, he was unlikely to figure out just what it was she was doing here, at least without a more active effort.
Nah, not worth it.
He shrugged nonchalantly, seeming to settle back into his comfortable chair. "Fine, have it your way. Enjoy your 'doing nothing.' My only concern was that you didn't show up just to cause me irritation. You leave me alone to nap, and we're good." With that, he yawned and stretched, his wings flaring before folding once more against his back. Mmm...nap...

He might not have made any mention of her eye but gawd he was insulting. Seriously, was he so self-important that he thought someone would actually show up here just to annoy him? More like he annoyed others with his aloofness and made them want to retaliate..
"Wow, so modest. Not in the least bit presumptuous or overly self-important, are you?" she mocked him, finding enough courage to turn and face him, taking a step towards the chair he occupied. This was actually a first for her; normally, she would have counted her blessings that he hadn't felt the need to continue paying attention to her and just left. Now it was like she was someone new; someone much more confident.
"So is it just that you think you're so much better than everyone else? Or is it that 'your world is black and no one understands you'?"

Rahab opened one eye again. Great, she was still talking. Didn't she want to leave just moments ago? Or at least be left alone? It had seemed that way, and since his goals were similar, he'd had no issue with cooperating to some extent.
So much for peace. Seemed she was going to prove to be one of those obnoxious pests afterall. With a sigh, he opened both eyes and raised his head reluctantly to return the female's singular glare. "Of course, not at all. Merely stating the truth. Every time I come to this cursed place, some pest decides to make it their sole purpose in life to irritate the hell out of me. Given the track record, I assumed today would be no different. And as it turns out, I may be right again."
Rising to a sitting position, Rahab was soon abandoning all thoughts of that peaceful nap he'd been hoping for. "I don't wanna' be better than anyone. I just wanna' be left alone. Apparently that's too much to ask for. And if I really wanted to become an emo and write bad poetry, well," he raised a blood-stained paw and waved his claws at the female.
"Seems I'm already halfway there without effort."

Something very like amusement flashed in her eye but she quickly suppressed it. She was pissed, remember? Now was not the time to chuckle because what he'd said about emos had actually been pretty funny. No, she must maintain that same aloofness he'd been exhibiting.
"I can understand wanting to be left alone; I can't fault you for that. But, for someone who wants so badly to just be left alone, you're awfully chatty. Just a reminder, you initiated the conversation. I didn't come here to bother anyone. I didn't even want to come here but it was this or listen to my bond babble on about how pretty she thinks I am.." That still made her feel weird. How come the pink-haired ditz was the first to accept her? Shrugging inwardly, she gave the bloodied winiko a slight nod.
"Sorry if I ended up bothering you anyway...uhh...whatever your name is." Sighing, she turned and made for the door.

One of Rahab's eyes widened slightly, the equivalent of the human expression of raising an eyebrow in interest. "'Scuse me for being curious," he muttered, shaking out his mane and rolling his eyes. Wasn't his fault he couldn't get his usual information from simply observing her like he did other Winis in the past. In his experience, he stayed out of the way and watched others to learn. They either ignored him, which he preferred, or they sought out his attention in order to irritate him.
"Bonds can be a pain in the tail. Luckily, I left mine and the rest of her loons at home today to entertain each other when I headed here." He couldn't comment on the being called 'pretty' part, but he had tales of his own that came to mind at the thought. Like when he'd first found himself with her instead of...the one before...and she'd spent over an hour trying to scrub his blood-stained claws and pelt clean.
To no avail of course.
Without quite understanding why, he added a comment for the retreating Wini. "It's Rahab, by the way."

Leela was honestly surprised when he told her his name; she hadn't expected him to. "I'm Leela," she was startled into responding then sighed and started back. Truthfully, he was interesting. And, though it'd probably irritate him, she found herself wanting to sit and chat with him. Might be more prudent to ask if that was ok first but, she figured he'd let her know if she was getting on his nerves.
"My bond is alright, I guess. I'm just not used to...positive attention like that. She's just a bit too bubbly and kind for my comfort level," she admitted, smiling wanly. "At least there's Spectre. He's her other bond and, since he's been around the longest, he gets far more attention. Which suits me fine."

She was coming back? Wait, he'd sorta' encouraged that, hadn't he? Crap.
With a discrete sigh, the bloody Wini settled in for the long, boring story that was sure to come. What had he done to upset whatever deities took such pleasure in tormenting him? Curse them, laughing from wherever they were perched, watching down below...
Zoning back in on what the female was saying, Rahab figured he'd better try to contribute something to the conversation. Why? Who knew?
"Mine's pretty much learned to leave me alone for the most part. Good thing. Then again, she's got enough of the crazy things running around now to keep her busy, that even if she hadn't learned, she'd be too distracted to worry about me among the more destructive, insane ones. That crazy spawn with the armor that keeps breaking all the furniture for one..." he trailed off with an irritated roll of his eyes. Why break all the comfy chairs? Really? It was beyond him, but then again, he was basically sane.
That kid had to have been dropped on his head too many times.
