The mornings earlier rains left the swamps even murkier than before, and this lion enjoyed it. He was tromping through the muddy areas without a care in the world. For once he didn't have his siblings around him, he didn't have cousins around him... Dusan was free to do whatever he wanted. Which included playing outside the borders. He wanted to get used to it; pretty soon he'd have to leave on his name quest. What that entitled, he had no idea. Momma was so vague with telling him that.
Getting out of the mud, tiny paws scampered up a fallen tree and across one of the deeper puddles. None of his family would ever think of looking outside the borders for him. That is if they noticed him missing.
Since the murder of his aunt, the whole pride had changed. It wasn't just his aunt that was murdered, but more lions that he didn't know. That's how he got stuck with three sibling-cousins. Their father wasn't even present at the funeral for his aunt. That royally ticked Dusan off. His uncle should be taking care of his own cubs, not Dusan's mother. Yes, little guy was bitter because momma had to nurse three cubs for ten days. Ten whole days that Dusan couldn't see her, couldn't talk to her. And now she was to busy raising them to be with him.
Or that's how he felt. He hadn't honestly tried to get a hold of her again, too afraid of being pushed away again. Shaking his head, he tried to clear those thoughts and focus on the task at hand. Climbing this big huge tree that was in front of him. Still on the fallen tree, Dusan jumped up and dug his claws into wet bark and his teeth clenched around a very wet, slippery vine. Slowly, he made his way up and up, so high for a cub his age. All he wanted was to get to the first branch. Which was still way up there. Hopefully he didn't lose his concentration.

Through the haze of previous rains, a form could be seen approaching far in the distance. Just barely though, as the white fur seemed to blend and fade with the murky air she walked through, seemingly like a ghost. A black blaze could be seen floating beside the creature, and if one was to squint they'd make out that it was a tails fur tuft swinging to and fro.
Blinking, the lioness glanced around as she moved forward languidly. The air seemed heavier than just the average mist and swamp fumes. It was almost like...the spirits were weeping, though she had no reason to believe that they were. Twitching her whiskers, the female continued her walk, undaunted by the almost foggy and eerie features of her homeland. To her it was peaceful and inviting....
The lioness paused as her ears perked up, listening to the faint noise. It sounded like.... a bug, clicking or hissing. But no, the rhythm was off, and the more she focused the more familiar it sounded. A tree...there was a tree being maimed lazily.
Following the sound, it wasn't long before the lions approached the tree in question. And wriggling there just under it was a young lion cub. Heh, he looked like a dangling scrap of a meal by the way he was squirming. Her muzzle leaned in a half smile as the lioness padded over to the other, standing just behind him and eye level with his spine.
Not that she was going to do anything. This was some fun and free entertainment!

He had no idea the female was there, and that was probably a good thing. The last thing Dusan needed was to lose concentration and fall. Wiggling more, his back feet scrambled to climb further up still, slipping every once in a while. Grunting and growling lowly, the cub climbed further still, tail twitching this way and that, probably about to hit the female in her face.
Just when he dug his front claws into the first limb, the bark proved to slippery and he squeaked and whined, swinging wildly to get his balance back. But it didn't happen. Instead, he found himself falling the few feet back to the ground and expecting a new world of pain to overcome him. "AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!"

Heh, this kid had spunk that was for sure! The pale lioness was having a difficult time holding her chuckles to herself. Lifting a paw to shush her muzzle, the female continued watching the youngster's effort. It wasn't long before she had to tilt her head back to keep an eye on his upward journey. Although...her long whiskers did twitch about as the tail nearly slapped her across the face.
Then the young lion seemed to jolt in midair, his footing lost and him squirming to stay on the tree. She could even hear the moist wood shredding under his paws as he moved; and then he was falling. Ears pinned, the older lioness only sat back and watched like before. She wasn't known for being nurturing...and besides the swamplands had a soft ground for landing.
"Real smooth there, lil one."

He landed on the ground with a soft whump and let out an oof! See? He was manly. He didn't scream out in pain. Slowly, he would rise to his paws, until he heard a voice. Letting out a girlie squeak, the male jolted again and landed back in the same position; sprawled out on his stomach, chin on the dirt, covered in dust. Coughing a bit, he scrambled up and turned around, blinking as he saw the girl.
"I.....meant to do that. It's what all the cool cubs are doing now." A lie, and she'd probably know it. Clearing his throat, Dusan looked her over. He hadn't seen her before. Brows knitting together, the dark blue one tilted his head this way and that, wanting to know who her parents were. Instead of asking questions though, he'd just tell her about himself and see what info she'd dish out.
"I'm Dusan. Who're you? I haven't seen you before. Are you leaving on your name quest?" He knew lions of her age always left for their name quest! He couldn't wait to go on his own.

Wow, what a drama queen! Tilting her head to the side, Inija only smirked as the boy glanced back at her. Then a snirk to his explanation. "Eh, I'm sure you did. Ya know, landing the wrong way and all, it's quite normal." Sarcasm laced her voice as she managed to speak so coolly though. Brows lifted though as the blue lion eyed her pelt, and Inija stood quietly for a moment. "Just what the hell are you doing?" There was no anger in her voice, only short curiosity.
But then she was bombarded by other questions all of a sudden. Shaking her head, the lioness sat with a proud grin on her lips. "Pft, first off I'm your elder. So speak a little more politely, boy Dusan. And for your information, I've recently returned from my naming trip thank you very much."

Woah, what a straight forward personality. It threw Dusan for a loop. He blinked and then sat down, frowning a bit. "I was looking at your fur. I haven't... seen any like it before. I thought it was pretty," he said, voice reeking apology. With a soft sigh, he fornwed further and then nodded. So she'd just come back, that would explain it. She was probably gone for a while. Now he was curious to see if she knew about the murders and what not.
"Sorry, sorry. I just.... Got excited? Its.. not often I meet another girl besides my sisters. I mean, there's Suzu, but she's.... like a sister to me. Ah.." He looked up at her and then looked away again. His young age was showing.

Her fluffy ears pinned back as bright eyes looked down at the other. Was he stuttering? Well, it was much better than him mouthing off, that was for certain. The lioness peered down at her own fur for a moment, happy to see home mud on it once more. "Really now? I now my siblings have some of the same markings...perhaps they haven't made it back yet." The chance of that happening made the girl somewhat nervous.....hopefully her brothers and sisters were okay. Grinning almost childishly, she turned her attention back to Dusan. "Other girls, why do you make us sound like some sort of mythical beast?" She laughed lightly. As far as she could remember, there had been plenty of lionesses roaming the pride. Had that changed?
