Smiling to herself the cat named Gwin walked along a canal on the outskirts of Ink. Her headphones gave off a steady pulse of the music that was turned up so high most would shy away from it. Without realizing it the girl cat shyed away from looking at the flowers along one side of the canal, rather looking at the reflections of them in the water. Twilight turned the water black, making it glisten with the purple and pink flowers, showing them just behind her as she looked.

Looking into the reflections she felt a odd sort of peace, the kind you get while observing something, but not being a part of it. Shrugging to herself she continued walking, scanning the area around her, unsure of what exactly it was she was seeking. Her life was about going about until something interesting came along and posed a distraction. Had always been that way, quick to please, quicker to disappear. A smile spread across her face as she found what she thought she may have been looking for. The water had resided a bit in this section and it was perfect enough for her to sit down and fling her legs over the edge, watching the dirt crumble away in small packed balls. The music from her headphones seemed as though in tune with their splashes. ‘Crack, crack, crack’. The dirt’s never ending rings brought another smile to her face. It was a good day. Perhaps she would go out later.

He hated to admit it, but Impulse was completely and utterly...lost. Sure, they'd given him pretty good directions, but he was a directional idiot: it ran in the family. Kinda. He blew brightly-colored hair out of his eyes. It flopped back and he shrugged, a chuckle on his lips. C'est la vie, right? Everything would work out in time.

A bulging knapsack was slung over one shoulder, all of his clothes and trinkets safe and sound. It felt good to have them so close. Gooseflesh rose up on his arms. The chill in the October air was almost threatening snow. He paused, digging through the sack and pulling a black hoodie over his head. Warm and content for the moment, he continued to walk. And although he was lost, he was smiling. A smile that never seemed to leave.

A thickly furred, seal-gray tail flicked this way and that, his ears swiveling. The two gold earrings in one ear jingled softly as they chimed together. He paused. His ears twitched, then focused. Music? A steady thrum of a beat? He smiled wider. Perhaps someone was nearby! Hopefully they could give him directions.

It never crossed his mind that he might be in someone's territory.

Gwin lifted her head up, looking up and down the canals dark waters, looking for any sign that someone was nearby.. Her hearing was null due to the noise, but when she made out the rainbow colors in the black water she turned the music down. Her gaze shifted up to the general area he should be coming from It would be to her great disadvantage if he were someone to avoid and she was still sitting mussing in the dirt, but she found it difficult even to think of getting up.

It was getting dark outside, her instincts for time obviously being off key along with her general thoughts. Gwin stretched her legs in front of her, trying to shake off the numbness in them. Skirts were the man invention to make women more dependent on them… and yet she loved the way it swished against her thighs. Impractical… it wasn’t the first time she had become so absorbed that she had forgotten the nights were getting colder. With enough blood in her legs Gwin stood, wrapping her arms around her thin shirt and trying her best not to look as defenseless as she was. It was when the male came closer she began to get less tense, the Goosebumps becoming little more then being from the cold. His smile was nice, it was a nice change here.

Impulse froze, seeing something move up ahead. His tail flagged out behind him, puffing like a popcorn kernal heated in the microwave, with more than enough alarm. His earrings gave one final jingle and then everything seemed to stand still. The twilight cast shadows across everything and he suddenly wished he'd brought a flashlight, but who knew he'd be out here, all on his own. He'd been walking for hours. At least. He wanted to frown, to back away, but the smile stayed locked in place.

'Easy boy, it's just your imagination playing tricks,' he told himself, sending mental waves to calm his racing heart. That's when the grass swayed gently and a girl stepped out, holding her arms around herself. His eyes flittered over her form: tanned skin, wild hair and an outfit that he would've chosen to wear had he been female. This time, the smile was genuine, his tail relaxing, his body releasing his nerves. She didn't seem armed... He held out his hands, palm open and up, and looked at her. His eyes focused on the trinket around her neck and quickly returned to her eyes. He felt a flush creeping over his cheeks. "I...Um...Hello," he stammered out, pulling his hands to his chest. He chipped at his dayglo nailpolish. "I'm..." He swam for a word, settling on his name. "Impulse."

Gwin smiled, trying to muster up all the courage she usually felt when she met with someone. Damn artistic moods always churning like the sea at high tide drowning her in their impulses. With his name she smiled, it was genuine this time, his reaction had scared her a bit her first reaction to reach for something to defend herself with, but greatful in the end she had nothing. He looked like she would have if genetics had played a twisted game and made her a boy, it was startling, but not as bad as it could have been.

She cleared her voice once, looking away, obviously feeling as though he had caught her staring. His name was Impulse... but that was a reaction, or something leading to a reaction... not a name. Gwin kept her lips closed though the comment was rude and she knew it. The wind blew a strand of her hair so that it tickled her nose and made her calm down a bit. Being tense like a coiled spring would do her no good. Besides he seemed harmless enough, simply confused... possibly lost but she couldn't tell if that was true right away.

"I... I'm Gwin." she mumbled, bushing fiercely that she was so out of place here. She should have been at the club with her friends as she always was on a Friday, not talking to some strange... vaguely similar to herself, horribly cute guy. Gwin forced herself to pay attention, or at least not stand there like a fool. "um... are you lost?" she gnawed on her lip nervously, what if he wasn't lost and just wanted to talk to her... it was entirely possible wasn't it? But who would have directed him here if that were true? She normally didnt tell her friends where to find her when she wanted to think, that was the point of finding a secret place to think. Gwin closed her eyes and then looked back up at him. "Sorry, Im not usually out here this late. My head is still in the clouds. What can I do for you Impulse?"
