Dark x Deception
Dark Myst gave a bit of a growl as she stalked the dusk. It was growing darker and the moon was making her rise higher and higher into the sky. The lone B'alam looked up into the cloudless sky at the glittering stars. For a moment she was at peace... Myst settled onto the terrain, her tail curled around her. The tail was a steady reminder that she was different..she wasn't like the others..there was also the fact she had fabrics and bands and scales.. the wings were strange appendages as well. She flexed them idly. So was that the reason why no one was around? Did she really taint the air that much?

Rasvyet
Altair trotted along the dark forest ground with the ease and grace he had conditioned himself to perfect. His pawfalls made hardly any noise despite the soft 'clink' of the armor plates upon his front legs. He analyzed his surroundings for any fresh trail of an animal's presence to predict the amount of game that was available to him that night. While on his search for food, the male thought of ways of sneaking upon his preys, whether it was from the trees or leaping from the cover of the thick bushes. The more he pictured the kill in his mind, the hungrier he became. This could be a good night to perfect his almost flawless skills of stealth and the art of the kill.

Altair grinned to himself as his white hood hid the murderous gleam visible in his blue orbs. The male glanced up to see that the night was perfect. There were no clouds and the stars and moon could guide him. The trees seemed to part ways into a small opening. This could be the perfect place to wait and stalk his prey. Their appeared to be a small stream that went through the opening. That was a good sign. His attention soon turned to the large tree beside him. The male shifted his body so that he faced the thick bark and picked out one of the branches he would soon camp out on.

It was moments before the muscles within his body tensed up and he lowered himself only to release all the tension into a powerful jump. His sharp claws dug into the thick bark as he found his grip. He used his powerful muscles and skill to push the bark down as he pushed himself up the wide tree. His actions continued for a couple of seconds before he found himself on his desired branch. It was thick and could easily conceal most of his underbelly, armor, and clothes from the animals that looked up. Now came the hardest part. Patience.

His orbs were highly critical of the slightest movement and made sure not to let any sound go unchecked. It was a while before his patience rewarded him. A stag started out into the opening, it's deer-like cautiousness keeping it alert for any predators. The antlers on the creature seemed slightly daunting but the male was eager for the challenge the chase might provide and the battle that might ensue. He flattened his body against the branch to make his figure as invisible as possible. As the stag neared the small stream of water, Altair readied his muscles for another leap that might turn into a bolt. His shoulder blades protruded from the clothing that covered his back as he flexed his claws. The time would soon present itself...

Altair's ears picked up the sound of a wing beat before seeing a shadow fly over him. He looked up only to see a blur of dark colors soar over him. A growl emitted from his throat as his previous prey took to the hidden depths of the forest. The male found himself irritated as he realized the source of distraction was in fact another one of his species, except with wings and an odd appearance. He stayed in his position to further analyze the other jaguar. It may have interrupted his future meal, but he was no fool to make his presence known so hastily and instigate a fight.

Dark x Deception
Dark Myst decided that a swift fly in the sky would distract her. As she passed over the trees, she looked down to see a river and a potential meal, but she wasn't hungry. Slowly, she began to descent, wings flapping and tilting, adjusting to the altitude. The female landed with a dull thud on the ground as the stag ran away, her eyes following it. A snort of annoyance, and a snarl of warning. Her frame then turned to the water as it gently snaked along, the glow of the moon and stars making it appear somewhat iridescent.

Lowering her muzzle to drink, Dark Myst contemplated on her life. What had it been so far? Nothing too terribly bad save for a lonely existence with many frightened creatures leaving her. She had yet to encounter another of her kind, though. It didn't surprise her. They were supposed to be elusive after all... and she didn't include herself in with that group. She wasn't like them. Myst never would be.

As the cool water rushed down her throat, she seemed to calm. Gaining her fill, she raised her head, shades down her nose as she looked back up to the sky. It was then that she sensed an unusual abnormality in the area. Quickly she turned and bared her teeth, wings flared outward, tail lashing behind her. She hated cowards and whoever was there needed to show himself in seconds before she went to find him herself. She probably never would, but she wouldn't care trying. It would finally give her something to do. Myst's claws extended, scraping up the grass and the dirt as she paced in a circle trying to find some sort of scent or sight. Dammit, she hated the night.

Rasvyet
Curiosity seemed to take hold of his mind as he studied the other's movements. As the b'alam drank the water, Altair allowed the features of the female sink in. She had a strong build from what it appeared and bat like wings that could obviously support her frame. The horns upon her head were thick and she appeared to wear human clothes like he did. To any other b'alam, that might have been weird but the male had been used to it and knew that the female probably was as well. He then caught sight of her tale and its odd form. It appeared to be made of scales of some sort and probably proved to be a good weapon.

After taking in the female's appearance, Altair considered leaping down from his post to get a closer look but found his thought to be useless. It was apparent that the other caught on to his presence as she immediately became hostile. If he hadn't have been confident in his own skills of stealth and silence, the female might have actually intimidated him with her pose. He was right about one thing, the tail could be a weapon. If they ended up on opposing ends, he would have to watch out for it.

Despite the open hostility, Altair noticed the movements the other was showing and knew his position had not been compromised. He grinned to himself as he remained flat against the branch, his body dead still as he continued to watch the aggressive actions. It was entertaining to him but he knew that his position might soon be found out if the female became extremely dedicated to finding him.

Altair allowed his body to release the tension held within as he raised himself to his paws. The moonlight catching glimpses of the white material of his cloak but most of his face still remained in the shadow of his hood.

"You must not be one to hunt at night," he chuckled.

He stayed in his position upon the branch in case the other decided to leap at him. It would give him time to jump down before anything happened.

Dark x Deception
The agitation rolled over her frame, her tail wildly flailing. Her annoyance and anger burned, her eyes narrowing seeking in the dark. Her back was turned when the voice called to her. Myst turned her whole body to face him, her stance slightly faltering, but she quickly recovered. Oh hell...

The B'alam in front of her was different, and he was the first one she had ever seen. He was clothed with some sort of armor on his left foreleg and a hood hiding his identity. Coward. Strangely enough, the white of his clothing made him all the more chilling, and it made her weary of the fact she couldn't see his face. She snorted at his comment. "I wasn't hunting. I was thirsty." Myst automatically corrected him.

Her body was low set to the ground, claws still extended, tail raised and poised for a strike, wings stretched and flared. She tried to make herself appear large and intimidating, but with the way she was dressed and her accessories, she was laughable. The female had barely been in any fights, and those were mostly small skirmishes that she really didn't fought, more like intimidated.

"What do you want?" Her voice was cool yet demanding, dark eyes glaring up at him.

Rasvyet
Altair only laughed further at her defense. He tilted his head slightly as the once intimidating jaguar in front of him appeared only a mockery of a b'alam. Her odd clothing pieces, now more visible, did nothing to give her the appearance of a hunter. His stance took on a more dominant approach as he stood with back straight and head held high. So this one was going to keep her hostility. He would set her straight if she continued such behavior. Despite his own odd appearance, his clothing actually went with how he moved.

"Such audacity," Altair mused, slightly to himself before speaking in a louder tone, his arab accent present. "You think you hold the position to question what I want? I see nothing that gives you that right. Unlike you, I was hunting and you happened to scare off my prey."

His own tail twitched in annoyance as he found himself wasting time talking to the female who would probably only waste his time further with more hostility. As he spoke, his hidden blue orbs took in more about the way she moved and spoke. Those factors could help him decide what type of hunter she was, if she was one. The accessories she wore could give her appearance away and the fact that she didn't spot him gave him the hint that she wasn't good with night vision.

Dark x Deception

Simply glared at him, though she eased her muscles. Yeah, she was a joke...so what? She snorted settling down on her haunches. Myst presumed that if he wanted to hurt her, he would have done so already, and she would probably be on the ground bleeding. Unlike her, this male meant business and he knew what he was doing. She was a novice..period.

Rolling her eyes more to herself, she flexed her wings a little bit trying to get comfortable, tail curled close by her frame, spikes upward pointing to the sky. "My bad." She snorted. "Maybe you should have been faster." So she was being a smart a**, not a right move, but at the moment she really didn't give two flips. Ok so he was going hungry maybe an hour or so. She went hungry most of the time. He could live.

"Well fine. What will you tell me, Mr. Ninja? Hmmm?" She pressed him a little more, tilting her head in a question-like manner, ears tilted forward. Yes it was true, she was in no position to demand or question, and yet she was doing it anyway. Typical Dark Myst, her mouth getting her in trouble. Her shades fell down on her nose again giving her a bit of a view. Now she could get a better look at the male. He had other garbs about him as well, and she thought she saw his eyes under that dark hood. Well he appeared a little more human now...kinda sorta.

Rasvyet

Altair only frowned in response to her smart comment. It was expected from those who had nothing else to prove. He moved forward upon the branch, careful not to disturb so as not to be shaken out of the tree. While balancing his weight, he looked down to see the earth below and picked out the softest spot. With little sound, the male seemed to walk off the branch and land, front paws first, upon the targeted piece of earth. He moved out into the open, feeling no threat despite the visible aggressive display the other still emitted. Then again, his arrogance had lead him astray once every blue moon.

His confidence brought him a couple yards away from the female. He gave no hint in backing away but his body language gave no hint that he was ready to spring towards her either. Now that he was closer, Altair noticed the demonic appearance was definitely juxtaposed by the weird accessories. The dark shades proved to be no sense at all, especially at this time of night.

"Nothing you'll actually consider helpful. Just the fact that you appear to lack the common sense of a hunter," Altair scoffed.

He turned to move in a two yard radius around the female. His movements cautious but firm as he moved one paw at a time, his gaze never leaving the other. Altair was slightly mocking the way she looked for him earlier when she went around in circles. His own circle around her was slow but he never made a move that would make him appear closer or farther than he already was. Despite her previous signs of inexperience, she still had horns and that whip like tail.

Dark x Deception
The demonic female silently watched him, her eyes studying his frame. He was a hunter, the cool silent kind. He was dark, and very intimidating. The way he moved without a sound, creepy as hell. It intrigued her. She wanted to learn more as to how he came to be that way.

Her wings shifted, ears flicked as she listened to him...or what she could pick him. His breathing was barely noticeable as it was audible. She did however study his bodily language. She got some clues that he was still on guard, but not as hostile as a threat as she thought he was. His shadowed face still gave nothing away. "I know. I wasn't meant to be one." Myst's statement was true to herself. "Sure I am one of your kind, but honestly, do you really think I am meant for something like that?" Her head turned as she scoffed at herself, tail still flicking idly. "Wait, don't answer that question, Ninja." She gave an inward grin.

The nickname was fitting to him, and well even though she considered ninjas cowardly and a bit of an annoyance, there was still that bad a** aura they had, and this guy definitely had that aura. So she was a little jealous. What was there to do? Not like she could develop the skills even if she tried. "So besides hunting, what do you do? Kill? Maim? Harass? Train?" She was poking at him again. Poke, poke, poke. It had to be pissing him off.

Rasvyet
Altair only gave a small chuckle as she spoke her piece about her nature. Was she like Cherise in the way that she only ate vegetation? It would seem highly unlikely but he found that anything could be true. He continued his predatory-like stalk, giving no hint of amusement towards the nickname but not speaking against it either. She could call him whatever she liked for now since he wouldn't disclose his name to her. Not until he thought of her as no threat to him. The male listened to what appeared to be endless questions. Did she not know when to stop?

"I do whatever I can to increase my potential. You learn to do so when you become..." He looked over her with a slight shake of his head. "self-disciplined."

Altair found himself questioning why he even bothered talking to the female. She stated herself that she wasn't a hunter. He could have been taking this time to hunt down another meal but instead, he was here being questioned by some amateur female. Curiosity must have been the only thing keeping him within the same location as the other. She was still an odd b'alam and he needed to socialize every once in a while.

"But if you truly want to know," started the male, his movements stilled as he stood in front of her. "I live by a creed that defines the way I live and act. It gives me... a purpose, if you will. Now enough about me, how do you get by in life. Vegetation or do you actually manage to capture live prey?"

Dark x Deception
Arched her eyebrow at him as he explained himself. Self-disciplined? The word was definitely not in her vocabulary. She snorted a little bit as she flicked her ear, the fur brushing against her horn. And if he was irritated, why was he still here talking to her? Then again she really didn't mind. It was proving to be quite amusing and entertaining. And, at least she wasn't alone anymore. She could deal with that.

Oh so now he wanted to ask the questions? Psh...what took him so long? "Well..." she started out, looking up and rolling her eyes back to him. "I'm definitely not a vegetarian. Tried that. Was nasty. Never again." She gave a bit of a sigh looking down at her semi-covered paws, then back to the male. "I hunt and catch what I can. I've managed to bring down a sow...a few squirrels...some birds..." She shrugged. "My hunting is style is mostly by day...I fly up toward the sun pretty much hide in it." Her tail raised to indicate at the things on her face. "These help tremendously. Then as I see what I want, I kinda dive down. Probably is...my aim isn't very well and if they spot me before I'm close enough and run, I can't adjust myself fast enough so I pretty much try to latch on to what I can. Tail helps...kinda." She looked at the scaled, deformed appendage then turned her attention back to the male. "Any other questions? Oh, I'm alive basely on my will to survive and a bit of my wit...hehe." Her mouth quirked, wings flexing a little before resting on her back. As for now, Dark Myst was completely calm.

Rasvyet
The female amused him with her disgust of trying out the vegetation. It was only natural but there were some who could master the concept, such as Cherise. Well, at least the b'alam was normal in one aspect. He grinned at the thought of normal. Nothing was normal. He wasn't normal. She wasn't normal. And yet, it exists when compared between the two. An interesting aspect only he would think of during a point of conversation. His thoughts were brought back as she continued speaking about her style.

"So you actually have wits. Interesting," mused the male, grinning as a sign of showing that he was only kidding. "But your style... it is quite like a hawk's when it is hunting squirrels. That would be an interesting sight to see. So then, why are you up during this time of night? Your circadian rhythm must not be in good shape if you hunt during the day and stay up at night. Or are you one of those wandering b'alam?"

The wanderers were something else. They went on a schedule that only pertained to them and had no regularity. It intrigued him but he never really got to talk to one formally for long due to their need to roam. Go figure.

Dark x Deception
Dark Myst simply snorted. "Yes, I'm not a retard." She changed her voice and made a face at the last word as if to prove her point. She rolled her eyes a bit shaking her form. Her tail flicked idly behind her batting at air. "Why you think I've survived for so long? I mean honestly..." She did catch his grin however, causing her to mirror one back at him. Ninja wasn't so bad once she got passed his shell.

At his question, she nodded. "Yes. I wander. I don't exactly have a home since...well..." She shrugged. "Look at me. I'm not exactly what you would call...well "the norm", but in all honestly I don't believe there is such a thing. Probably another reason why I'm an outcast." Myst flashed a malicious smile, then sighed. "I'm restless in all honesty. I don't sit still for long....I can't. I've always got to be on the move...always have to go somewhere...y'know?" She tilted her head. "There's places to go and things to see and people to do...wait I said that wrong, didn't I?" Again, a humorous grin on her face. "So I suppose you're a night hunter?"

Rasvyet
The female actually had a sense of humor. How delightful. When she stated that she was indeed a wanderer, it was clear that she did indeed have her own schedule going for her. This conversation might not last too long, depending on her tolerance of him. He found that out when speaking to other b'alam of the wandering type. Altair figured something interesting would have to happen if she were to actually stay in his company for some of the night. His thoughts soon subsided as the other spoke once more, eliciting a small chuckle at the end of her description.

"You guessed right. I usually operate better during the night, it gives me the camouflage I need or a peaceful setting to think in," he answered, before taking the bold move to sit down and leave himself somewhat vulnerable. "You know, being an outcast can be only temporary. It's just a word. A description of something that isn't wanted. You shouldn't label yourself so quickly. After all, if I went by that train of thought, I'd be an outcast too. It's really the way you carry yourself that makes you who you are. So don't let the standard ruin your thoughts as to whether you're accepted into society or not. You'd be surprised to know how many odd things there are in this life time."

Altair held a serious tone through his small opinion statement. He felt somewhat strongly about the subject since he had gone through that feeling. Hell, he even accepted it as part of himself until he decided that the judgment of others mattered not. He found a gratifying feeling after learning to ignore the harsh judgment of others and their input on "the norm." There was no such thing as normal. It was just a false word.

Dark x Deception
The female became quiet as she listened to him, serious for once. The air about them softened even more as he sat down. He was actually quite intelligent and held wisdom that seemed to span beyond what he appeared to be aged. Her tail flicked idly as she took a mental checklist of her appearance...of herself.

"I...I'm not sure..." Myst whispered before she looked over to him. "I just thought maybe if I tried, others would like me...it hasn't happened...but maybe I shouldn't care." Her voice was barely audible as she then rose and went toward the water. Standing parallel to the stream, she looked down at her reflection studying her frame. The scales, the wings, the horns, the clothing, the accessories...Shaking her head, she looked over to him. "You make it sound so easy..." She dropped her gaze for a moment before looking up toward the sky. "There are times where I just wish I could stay up there forever and never have to come down...I love that vast open air with the stars, the moon, and the sun. It feels good...that power of staying up there and then looking down at others..they appear like little ants on the ground that I could squash.." Even as horrid as the statement sounded, Dark Myst wasn't like that. She was a kind soul in a demon's body.

Shrugging idly, she looked over to him. "But you do make sense, Ninja...I just wish I could follow it.." Then she got an idea. "Hey, teach me how to be self-disciplined!" She beamed trotting over to him. "Teach me your ways! Maybe I can get better at hunting! C'mon, I know you can teach others, and I'm sure I could teach you some things!" Ok so she stretched the last part, but she was desperate. This might be her chance to finally prove her worth..to herself.

Rasvyet
Altair only watched in silence as she pondered what he said. He knew it was hard to accept, or even think about when just introduced. But he knew it could be done. He had done it. Alone. The male looked up at the sky as she did while stating her thought. Well, he couldn't say he felt that same way due the to fact he was missing a certain piece of anatomy... but he could think of ways of obtaining that same feeling. He looked at the other with a reassuring grin. If she needed his aide, he would help her where he could but most of it would have to self-taught.

The mood suddenly shifted from serious to energetic. Altair had never seen someone change moods so quickly, it almost made him jump at the sudden burst of energy. Key word: almost. His maw opened to say something before shutting close. This could be either very bad or fairly entertaining. He was willing to bet on both but it was nice to have an irregularity in the schedule. Altair only shook his head as he realized what he was about to do might cost him his nightly meal. But it would be a fun experience... hopefully.

"I can try and teach you but what I do has taken me many years train and perfect. So you must realize that not everything can be executed perfectly the first time."

His words went to both the female and himself. Patience would be the skill he would need tonight. Especially when dealing with someone... not like him. Altair gave a small sigh as he realized this might indeed test his patience. He thought over how they should start and realized he would need to see exactly what he was working with in order to help her.

"Lets see how you hunt for your meal. Then we'll go from there."

Dark x Deception
She began to wonder if he would consider her offer. She tried to put on her best face. "I promise I'll be an excellent pupil! I'll try my best and I swear I'll meet the higher expectations. Push me as hard as you want!" The estranged feline was practically begging to be a student. When she thought that maybe he still wasn't convinced, he gave in.

Dark Myst just about laughed with glee creating such a ruckus, it must have woken up half the jungle. She jumped around whooping and hollering fanning out her wings and even doing some aerial acrobatics. "Yes! YES! I promise you won't regret it!" She landed with a thud in front of him almost knocking into the b'alam. "Whoops! Sorry." Her over zealousness must have gotten on his nerves already, but she couldn't help it.

"So, what's the first job?" She inquired. At his statement, she tilted her head. "But there's no sun...and I doubt the moonlight will hide me very well.." Her tail curled as she began to feel insecure about herself. "What should I do? Besides, it's dark out. The game is probably asleep and hiding...I won't be able to find it...my sight is horrible as it is.."

Rasvyet

He was doomed to suffer a night of starvation. It was apparent when she decided to give away their position with her hooting and hollering. The male thanked his self discipline for keeping a groan suppressed as he realized exactly what he signed up for. His hidden blue orbs followed her figure as she performed some unnatural movements within the sky before nearly knocking into him. Altair only took a calm step backward to avoid being slammed towards the earth by the unbalanced female.

He listened to her pessimistic views of herself and shook his head left to right. Those would have to be the first to go. If he was going to help train her, then she would have to be confident in herself. It was something he learned from a young stage. If you were even the slightest bit shaky in yourself, it reflected in your actions.

"Why so negative? That's probably why you're unsuccessful in finding purchase with catching a meal. Now, try taking on this mindset. You have nothing but dark hues decorating your figure. Your pelt is darker than most and the accessories are mainly black with a dark red shirt. That right there is something that will help you blend into the night. I will also assure you that not all the game is asleep. You will find mostly deer and possibly a boar up at this hour. Trust me, otherwise I wouldn't be very good at hunting at night. But as for your sight, it should be your back up sense. You should try using the other four senses to your advantage. Don't rely just on one," Altair instructed, his voice calm despite all the energy within the atmosphere between the two. "So take what I just said and apply it. But despite what happens, I want to see how you hunt without any other advice."
PostPosted: Wed Oct 28, 2009 11:33 am

At his voice, she gave him her full attention, all giddiness gone. Her ears flicked as she took in the information and advice he game. Ok, so she would have to become a little bit more self confident.

Her eyes wandered around them every now and then while he was talking. Her mind too began to wander. What was up this late? Was she even hungry enough to hunt? What did a boar look like? Was the meat good? Her childish imaginations seemed to block out what he was trying to say. She almost didn't catch the end of his little speech.

"Huh? Eh?" She found herself saying before shaking her head. "Oh yeah, right. Dark. I help myself. Gotcha." She was halfway paying attention. The female moved her frame scraping up the terrain as she passed him. "All right..." Blinking a bit, she slipped through the trees, wings close to her back. She couldn't fly, there was no natural support. The feline looked around hard, her eyes not focusing very well. Her ears flicked at every single sound, and her nerves were on edge, breathing erratic. Dark Myst was making more noise than she thought, and it was an indicator to her prey that a "predator" was about. As she moved, she would bump and trip other vegetation and rocks, all the while cursing. Her tail managed to scrape up against trees making even more noise.

It was safe to say the female was not coordinated at all. Half the night was gone and she returned back to the empty field empty handed where she first met Ninja. Throat parched, she raced to the river and took gulps of water not even bothering to check her surroundings.

The male realized that her attention span was that of a fly and it only made him regret his decision slightly more. He decided it would be best if he just sat and waited for the female to come back. From the looks of it, it would seem she might as well force herself to become a vegetarian. Her form was horrible. Altair groaned once the other was out of earshot and allowed his armored paws to stretch out in front of him as he made himself comfortable, laying upon the ground. This was going to be a long night and he could predict that he had tough times ahead of him... one of those being hunger issues.

His whole frame winced as he heard the sound of twigs breaking, leaves cracking, and overall noise that could only originate from one source. Patience. That word would have to plague his mind in order for him to suppress his irritation. There was a moment of silence where he thought she was finally getting the memo of how to hunt without making too much clamor. Why that thought ever popped into his conscious mind was beyond him as he heard the loudest crash yet. The prey must have woken up and ran away ten miles by now with how the female carried herself. Altair's stomach grumbled slightly in irritation as it was not used to this prolonged state of hunger.

"I wonder how she even caught the bovine," muttered the male as he made an effort to get up, stretching out his once stiff limbs.

A yawn was suppressed as he considered just leaving. Patience. The male only reminded himself every couple of minutes. The word itself was a challenge and he usually liked challenges but this one was time based. A low growl emitted from him as he started heading towards the direction he could hear the female in. Was she really trying? Was she just playing around with him? Could someone fail that horribly? It must be a joke. Altair grinned as he started repeating the questions within his head, persuading himself it was all a joke.

That joke soon became nonexistent as reality stepped into its place. The female literally burst out of the wood line looking like a huge mess. It seemed that the forest had gone to battle and left her with some of its evidence of its victory. Altair noticed how she seemed to head straight for the water, not even bothering to look around. That was a no no.

He tilted his head slightly, the hood falling further to cover more of his face as he trotted over to the parched female. His hidden orbs caught sight of the scaled appendage and a sly smile spread across his face as he picked up speed. His once trot turned into a full bolt with only the slightest sound emitting from his rushed pawfalls on the soft grass. This method was the same method he used to hunt game such as deer. From the looks of it, the other wouldn't even see it coming.

As he neared the other b'alam, he pushed off of his back legs with as much strength as he could muster. If the other didn't move, he would land on the back of the female for a split second before pushing off and clearing the small stream of water while the momentum of his 'attack' would push the female forward in the water. Altair refused to believe his movements would fail and that he might be the one that ends up in the stream at a failed effort of surprise.

Her thoughts drifted constantly over the night. She had some many near misses, but a crapload of..just plain misses. Why she couldn't grasp the art of hunting, Dark Myst wasn't sure. She was a lot better than that..but then again it was night time, it wasn't day, and she didn't have the masking of the sun nor the empty plains.

She was making excuses. Myst gave a sigh as she raised her head for a split second, ears immediately swiveling back to the faint sound of rushed wind. She turned just in time to see Ninja make a sprint for her. Wings spread, she tried to jump, but his paws just made their mark on her back. The momentum jetted her forward and down into the stream. A small splash! could be heard. Myst just laid there for a while before standing up and shaking off her pelt. She glared at him.

"You think this is funny, huh?" Her voice was high pitched with emotions. "You must think I'm a joke. That I'm not trying. Well dammit, I am! I...I'm really trying! I'm not used to night hunts, that's all! I'll show you!" Shaking her head, she jumped soundlessly from the water and took to the air. She was up there for quite some time before shooting the opposite direction of her first hunting try. Her silent wing beats added with the semi-dark almost made her invisible. Maybe she should try her approach...

As he landed gracefully upon the opposite side of the stream, he thought about the half second the female had noticed him. She wasn't all that distracted with thirst to notice his presence at least. That was a step up. The male wanted to make a sly comment as he looked at the soaked feline in front of him, holding his self-control pretty well to keep from laughing at the sight in front of him. Before he even had the chance to speak, the female went off about her strong effort and took off almost immediately.

Altair gave a frown at the sudden burst of emotion. That could either be good or bad. For some it heightened their skills but for others it made them ignorant still of their emotions. He gave a frown. His little leap of faith had only been to show her to keep her guard at all times, not to break her spirits about the first time she hunted at night. The male had a feeling of uneasiness as he watched the already hard to see form disappear within the night's sky.

Without another thought, Altair turned around and moved his body within a quick gait, resembling that of a steady run. He used his trained eyes to search the sky for his trainee whenever there was space between the tops of the trees. Effort was put into the way he maneuvered around the woodlands in order to make as less sound as possible. If the female was the type to heighten her senses, he wanted to make damn sure he witnessed her unique hunting style.

The male squinted his hidden orbs slightly as he thought he saw the shape of a rather bird like looking creature. It must have been his temporary pupil and so he followed the almost invisible shape in the sky. He had to admit, the technique was good if she was going to approach her prey from the sky.

Made her flight a strong sure one, her ears flicking trying to distinguish the sounds of her and her prey. She felt a presence follow her and knew it must have been Master Ninja, but she pushed him from her mind. As her eyes scanned the forests, she saw a break and began to circle looking for any form of life. Orbs glowed slowly as she caught a glimpse of movement.

The form was of medium size and it stank. She saw a gleam of white around the mouth which she took for teeth. As she listened, the sounds of grunting, snorting, and a slight squeal could be heard. Her nose tried to get past the stink to something there. She often saw it lower its head to root at the ground as if looking for food. It appeared to be a pig... was it a type of boar that he was speaking of? Only one way to find out.

Myst began her careful descent from the air, wings barely beating save to keep her aloft every few moments as she tried to gauge the best course of action to take against this ridiculous beast. She wasn't going to go to the front. The back seemed like the obvious approach, but how was the hide? It couldn't be that tough...

Taking a deep breath, she closed out everything and let herself dive down hard. Claws extended, she pounced upon the creature, bone meeting flesh. The animal immediately squealed out pain as it began to kick. Myst lost her grip on the animal. It was larger than she anticipated, it was ugly, and it looked pissed off. Quickly, it turned and began to charge her with those big teeth. With a snarl, she lowered her head and met it head on, her horns slamming into the animal causing it to stumble backward. Immediately, she took the initiative and charged forward again this time hurtling the creature onto it's side. Myst didn't waste any time pouncing upon the beast using all of her weight to pin it down. The boar continued to fight thrashing its head about managing to cut the cat's cheek, chin, and neck. The female demon slammed a paw down onto the face and bit down hard on the throat, her fangs tearing through skin to meat draining the life force from the animal.

Soon enough, thrashing ceased and the jungle grew quiet. Taking a deep breath, she raised herself from the carcass, adrenaline leaving her body. She felt weak and tired all of a sudden and the cuts on her face began to sting. Oddly enough, she looked over to where she figured he was hiding. "It's safe to come out now.." She snorted, tail thrashing behind her.

Altair hadn't trailed the form too long before the noticeable stench of general uncleanliness overwhelmed his senses. Boar. The male gave a frown seeing as this prey was definitely not beginner hunting material since they fought back and usually inflicted serious to fatal wounds to the unwary. He studied the sky to see that the form grew larger in shape. So she was going to hunt the boar? His previous feeling of uneasiness returned albeit a bit stronger. The male didn't want to interfere with the hunt but he would definitely keep a close eye on the event in case it turned for the worse.

While observing the landscape, Altair watched for any trees with thick branches that might give him the perfect view without compromising his presence to the boar. His hidden orbs fell upon a tree near the small break in the forest. With a graceful like movement, he allowed his claws to dig into the bark and hoisted himself up into the lowest branch that could support his weight. Once balanced, the male peered down, the boar in his line of vision.

Don't do anything stupid...

His curiosity outweighed his current thought in stepping in to help. He wanted to see exactly what she was talking about when she dived down upon her prey. A smile spread across his maw as he looked up to see the female come diving down upon the creature. It was certainly a sight to see. He relaxed slightly at the squeal of pain, thinking she dove down hard enough to possibly snap its spine. Then again, there wasn't that familiar snapping sound like a creature's neck being broken.

He didn't know whether to step in since the boar obviously knew about its predator and turned to fight. Altair decided the female knew what she was doing when she met the boar head on and watched the fight, keeping an eye out for the shift that meant the battle might go terribly wrong. As soon as it started, it seemed to end with the demonic b'alam biting down on the boar's neck.

Altair took this as his time to step down and go see how the female was doing. He had seen a couple nasty attacks the boar succeeded on and usually the adrenaline was enough to numb the pain for that moment. His nimble body jumped down from the branch, landing with a slight thud before he walked calmly upon the scene, keeping his distance. She might still be hostile since fresh blood usually does that.

"So that's your style? It's interesting to see up close."

Dark Myst said nothing to her teacher. Instead, her eyes glared into his before she looked back down at the carcass. With a shrug, she began to lick at her wounds as best as she could all the while cleaning her paws. "You can start." She finally said. "I'm not really hungry..and think of it as an apology for messing with your dinner.."

Her tail twitched a bit. It was the only indication that the cuts were getting on her nerves. The deepest one was on her neck, a dangerous area. The blood seeped down into her shirt. Myst wasn't sure if the clotting would help, but she really didn't do anything else to irritate the area. Keeping it out of view, she turned back to look at him finally, eyes growing softer. "I'm sorry about earlier, Ninja...I was a little deterred..but I think I get it...I just can't rely on my emotions too much...I need to find a way to get it out and use what I have..." Her voice was quiet before she allowed herself to slump to the cool ground. She was extremely tired, strangely. The fight took a toll on her. "I need to work on endurance too..." Myst gave a half grin. "I'm fat and lazy..."

Altair mentally noted the glare that shifted into something a bit more lethargic. He frowned as she told him to start. That wasn't necessarily a good sign and that the fight between her and the boar had been more serious than she lead on. That could only deduct the adrenaline had finally run thin within her. As the male approached to get a closer look, he noticed the dark red metallic liquid that leaked from the various cuts around her facial area but missed the neck wound due to it being out of view. From his line of vision, the cuts looked manageable.

As the female spoke to him apologetically, he became highly suspicious. This new found complacency was not what he remembered from the female at all. The last time he found her, she was full of energy despite the situation. Even when she came out of the forest after spending half the night being epic fail, she was not this out of it. He didn't recall any type of fight with a boar to be that tiring especially for one as energetic as she. Everything wasn't adding up. The words she said were without some type of sarcasm or fake bitterness.

"Are you alright?"

He kept himself from issuing any witty comments at her last line. At least she was somewhat herself? Then again, he had only known her for some of the night. Altair took this time to fully analyze his pupil as he walked around to look her directly in the eyes. He would need to know for sure if her facial lacerations weren't the cause of this sudden lethargic reaction. The male noticed something slightly out of place when he came to face her directly, the space between them only a couple of feet. His orbs widened slightly underneath his white cloak as he noticed the large stain upon her shirt and the way the fur on her neck was matted down.

His movements were unconscious as he closed the space between them. Altair allowed his nose to sneak under the other's chin to lift her head up slightly so that he could get a better view of the laceration. It was definitely deeper than the others he had seen. A mental string of curses ran through his mind as he allowed a number of thoughts to run through his mind. He had watched the humans deal with deep cuts before and he would do the same, for if otherwise not watched, the situation could turn for the worse.

"You're an idiot, you know that?"

He gave a disapproving frown if she decided to move while he helped to clean the wound but turned back to the serious matter at hand. The first thing they did was clean the cut. Altair lowered himself onto his armored front legs and moved forward slightly before lowering the rest of his body, ignoring the fact that he was in her personal space.

"Don't move," he murmured before placing the rough texture of his tongue along her blood matted fur.

It was odd, the taste of another predator's blood. It was unique in a sense that it had a different taste almost like his own when he licked his own small wounds. He continued to clear around the wound before addressing the laceration itself. Hopefully the clotting process would speed up if the cut was cleaned properly.

Dark Myst made sure to keep her bad cut away from his view, though her posture must have been showing her fatigue since it was clear his bullshit detector was going off. Her ears pinned back against her horns a bit as the cut began to sting due to her neck movements. It was growing stiff and numb - not good.

"Yea...I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be, Ninja?" She tried to force a smile, but the energetic tone of her voice just wasn't there. Her tail flicked anxiously, her eyes darting from him to her surroundings to the meat then back to him. Why wasn't he eating? Her teacher was too smart for his own good...damn (and bless) him! She didn't see his surprise inspection coming.

This was the closest he ever came to her. She couldn't smell much of a scent which slightly creeped her out. His cloak was more of an off white, but the intensity of his blue eyes was still there all the same. At the rough touch of his nose on her chin, she gave out a hiss, her claws extending out of much habit than anything else. They dug into the ground, her eyes shutting slightly. "That friggin' hurts!" Myst cursed out loud, her tail now visibly lashing again. Beads of water pooled around the corner of her eyes. So much for the cut numbing and clotting. She simply snarled at him for calling her an idiot, but in the back of her mind she knew he spoke truth. Her throat started to feel sore; she could feel the infection. Strange.

Then suddenly his tongue touched her fur and her mind went blank. She could feel nothing, though the cut would sting every now and then. Her eyelids squeezed shut, her throat producing hissing sounds every now and then, wings shuffling against her back out of agitation. Slowly, she calmed and her nerves relaxed. Claws retracted, and tail rested on top of the carcass as if to guard it. It got to the point where Myst simply let her chin rest on his head for support. She wasn't going anywhere as long as he watched her so what was the point of resisting? The pupil simply waited until he was done with his inspection. "Careful of the collar..." She warned him. The damn thing was supposed to protect her from crap going wrong...

It just then occurred to Dark Myst that this was the nicest thing Ninja was doing for her. Was it because she actually took something down and that she was learning? Or maybe he just felt some sort of pity for the female. "I'm not that much of an idiot." She managed to croak out, a sly grin on her face. "Though I can totally get used to this treatment." Flirting brought you nowhere, Dark Myst...

The male took mind for her collar after she spoke of it but it did not get in the way for him. He felt the odd vibrations her throat gave when she talked and couldn't help how odd this was for him. This wasn't exactly his area of expertise since the only time he took heed of neck wounds was when he was dishing them out to his prey. It seemed to work though when he felt her relax. This could possibly be a very good sign.

He pulled away slightly to inspect his work and grinned as it seemed to look like that of any other wound when it started healing. There was going to be a couple thin streams of blood but that was inevitable. Clotting only happened so fast. She was back to her normal self for now it seemed. The male only chuckled at her statement about his treatment.

"Does that mean you're going to intentionally put yourself into danger now?" his voice full of playful jester as he gave a small grin. "Then again, you say you're not going to be an idiot so I shouldn't worry any more."

Altair paused for a second before applying a quick lick to the cut on her face and moving away to offer her the personal space she had previously. He motioned her to get up with a nod of his head towards the direction of the boar, which her tail seemed to guard.

"You should eat. It's better when its fresh and you can get some more energy or if you do plan on sleeping, at least you can sleep longer on a full belly."

Her tail flicked idly as he continued. His attentions on her wound were a bit over the edge, and yet she didn't mind. Maybe in a sense he was saving her life, but her mind was going to other places. Boy, she was nothing but a hot mess! The young cat purred a little before she managed to sneak a look at him. "Well aren't you pleased with yourself..." She smirked back at him removing her chin from his head. She stretched her neck a moment before letting it relax again.

"Ahh..That's gonna burn in the morning.." She began to clear her throat giving a low snarl, her mouth opening and shutting. "I'll get used to it..." Her wings shuffled a little, ear flicking at his comment "Well would you rather me get in trouble more often?" She challenged back. "You seemed to be enjoying it more than me." A bit of a wink, Dark Myst gave a laugh. "I'll behave, Ninja, I promise. And yes, you shan't worry anymore!" She quickly nodded, which she just as quickly regretted by clearing her throat. "Ack!"

When she straightened herself, Myst was slightly taken back by the affection to her face. Did Ninja have a soft side? A slow smirk spread across her face before she let it disappear. There he went ordering her around again going back to business. "If you're going to teach me how to hunt, you're going to have to learn to have fun!" She challenged him back, but to his orders, she turned her body to feast on the carcass.

As soon as her teeth touched flesh, she knew the pain was worth it. The meat was so warm and she immediately felt the nourishment. It had a strange flavor to it, one she had never tasted before. She loved it. Myst's tail began to twitch with content, eyes closing a little. It was only then that she realized her shades were gone. Carefully she moved her head around their immediately area before she noticed them close to the dead boar's head. "Whew...not broken." She exhaled before gingerly taking them between her paws and slipping them back on her face without much difficulty. Years of practice did wonders when one had no thumbs. Damn humans. "To think I'd be better careful with my only pair..." Her mouth scrunched before she went back to eat, careful not to stain the lenses.

Turning to her teacher, she motioned over to the meat. "Eaf! Pweafe?" Her mouth was full, but she figured he would get what she was saying. Ninaj was smarter than that...wasn't he?

Altair scoffed at the word. There was no time for fun... Well more accurately, he gave no time for fun. It was somewhat useless and he didn't quite understand the concept. What was there to gain from just messing around. Nothing. So what was the point. He would ask the female later for her input but he figured he wouldn't even bother with the word after they departed... The male gave a small sigh, hardly noticeable even to himself. He wouldn't say it, but having company for a limited time was nice every once in a while. His blue orbs glanced toward the other b'alam to see she was doing something unlike anything he had yet to see another creature do.

She was interesting in her own aspect. Like him in that they stood out from the rest of their species. It was nice to meet another and who knew, maybe there were more out there just like them? His mood lightened up, albeit his appearance didn't change much from before to show this shift. If he could, he would find more odd b'alam just like Cherise and this female here. With his luck, it might just happen.

His attention shifted to the other as she motioned him to join her. His stomach grumbled in response as the fresh smell of blood invaded his senses. The male gave an approving nod as he padded over to stand beside her, lowering his head to tear at the rough hide of the boar. After taking his first taste, he knew it was worth the wait of most of the night for the meal. He would have to thank her for sharing later but for now, his hunger got the best of him. He allowed a companionable silence to fall between them as he was entirely relaxed.

Dark Myst watched him carefully, her eyes studying him through her shades. Why was he so guarded? Was he nothing but serious all the time? It did get to her a little bit. What was the point of life if you didn't live it to its full extend, to its full potential, to the point where you may not have tomorrow?

Her tail flicked idly as her thoughts caught up with her expression. Myst did not realize it, but she was staring directly at him, her expression blank but her eyes a turmoil of emotions. She was confused and was a little saddened for him. Why did he deny himself the simple pleasures in life? He seemed as if he wanted to live in the life of shadows only...why was that?

Her wings shifted as the winds began to brush against her frame. Myst turned to look up at the sky, the stars starting to falter and the horizon starting to show a dim light. Was the night almost really gone? Had she stayed up all this time with him? It took her a while as she blinked then she turned to him.

"Ninja..." She started before taking another mouthful of meat. As she chewed, she tried to choose her words carefully. Swallowing, she started again. "Ninja, are you going to leave? I mean...you're not done teaching me how to hunt." Her voice become a little bolder as she stared at him from above the rim of her shades, dark eyes trying to pierce the darkness to find the blue hues. "So therefore you can't leave until you've taught me everything and I'm as good as you."

Altair could not help but feel that a pair of eyes were looking at him. He could always detect those type of things but he had no feeling of a direct threat. It was the female, he could tell since the atmosphere around them held no hostility from an outside source. A couple thoughts passed through his head as he wondered what she was thinking. He did not move to meet the gaze but instead was content on filling his stomach. The breeze that passed through them felt nice, a refreshing change from the stillness of the night.

It was then that the male decided to look up while cleaning his maw as best as he could with his tongue to get most of the boar's blood off. He noticed the rays of light that lit up the horizon and lit the tops of the trees afire with color. At this time, he was usually asleep but on the rare occasion that he caught the sunrise, his attention would be solely on the beauty of it all. It was one of the only moments he would stop what he was doing to watch. Altair's focus altered slightly as he heard his nickname given.

He turned to look towards the female, who still had fresh meat within her mouth and blood around her own maw. Quite comical really but he said nothing since her tone indicated a sense of seriousness. He gave a small 'hmm' in response to her inquiry before listening to the question that soon followed. The boldness in her tone did not go unnoticed as she finished her statement.

So he was to train her up to his standard? Altair opened his mouth to say something but closed it as he rethought what he wanted to say. He had lived a life mostly filled with seclusion. Never had he immersed himself with other creatures of his own species. His meetings with others were usually brief and fleeting but he had come to terms with those type of meetings. What this female was proposing would change his lifestyle considerably. Would he be prepared for a change of that caliber.

His mind was bursting with questions as to whether or not he would be prepared for this type of alteration. It would alter his mindset and how he perceived things but perhaps the change was needed. Altair wondered if he could make such a large scale decision so quickly but in the end, he realized it was already made.

"Well then, I suppose you're going to be my pupil for a while, if not your whole life, hm?" his own voice giving off a jesting tone but it suddenly became serious. "But honestly consider this. Would you be willing to stick it through no matter how rough the going gets? I need to know that you're in this 110% because this is no joking matter for me. I will take this seriously and teach you my ways but only if you're going to put forth the effort. Meaning, don't you dare leave if there's an obstacle that might be too tough for you to handle at one point in time."

He needed to know for himself that she was serious. It would be a waste if he chose something that would more than likely change his life and then have her leave in the middle of it. The very thought would lead him to a feeling of betrayal. He wanted her to know that his word was law and if she agreed to be his pupil, she would be until he was satisfied she was his equivalent.
