It was his first time out in awhile. He constantly had to consume energy for work and the 'customers' provided only satisfied him for a little while. But at least, he had enough energy for the day. Not that he would lose his physical form but he might collapseand faint. Which is the reason he was taking it easy.

He was sitting on the wall, a cigarette in his hands, facing towards the ocean. He wasn't by the beach.. more of an abandoned area that stood by the ocean. A puff of cigarette smoke escaped from his mouth, purple eyes staring without purpose in front of him. He didn't even waste energy trying to keep his wings in. After all, there weren't any humans around to scream at them.

Damn. Humans made some good things. Like cigarettes and alcohol. The demon world didn't have inexpensive luxuries like this. He might as well enjoy it while he can.

On the other hand, it was K's first time out. There wasn't any particular reason for it-- The hellhound simply hadn't found a reason until today. His guardian had started to become increasingly difficult and for K, it was by sheer force of will that he didn't just snap Altar's neck in half and eat him.

K skirted the buildings curiously, blood red eyes flicking to and fro; searching for something of interest. He was going to be in trouble when he got home, this much he knew. It was his fault for eating the family kitten-- but how was he supposed to know?

At least he was full.

Spitting out a patch of fur that had become stuck between his canines, the boy came to an abrupt stop, colliding heavily with the tree before him. It took K a moment to recover, reeling from the initial shock, then pain. Large wolf ears flattening against his skull, the boy rubbed his head savagely and hissed, fangs bared.

It wasn't like him to be so clumsy. Usually he was much more alert-- was it because he hadn't been fed properly?

As the pain subsided, the hellhound gradually grew aware of another presence. It was different from the mortals that he lived with, so it was safe to say that it wasn't a mortal. Now where was it coming from? Behind?

K turned his head to look, still nursing his face with one hand. No, there wasn't anything there. Just a run down wall-- Or was there?

Lifting his gaze, the hound's ears perked up, tail flicking subconsciously. There was someone there, he could tell by the cigarette smoke. Up on the second floor of the building, though the wall hadn't broken down far enough for him to see what or who it was. Forgetting his pain, K rounded to the other side of the building. Though he couldn't see the other from where he was, the other could probably see him.

Someone was coming. Likely some trivial human explorer. Vayth didn't really care. Humans were only good for company when they wanted to be, the race didn't hold too much appeal for him. But neither did his old world, in fact, it held even less appeal for him. But the hairs on his rising back told him, a few moments later, that this new intruder wasn't mortal.

It was probably instinctive amongst those that weren't part of humankind. Humans had this certain.. air about them. Not that Vayth didn't treasure his guardian but all humans had this .. vulgar sense to them. At least, that's what it felt like to Vayth. The humans who frequented bars all had this same quality. Crude.. Vulgar.. Hungry for intimacy. Such a primitive race. With it's exceptions of course.

He dug his cigarette butt into the stone next to him, a deep breath of smoke released. He glanced down, spying movement from the corner of his eye. A humanoid stood below him, a dark figure with dark hair. .. Ears.. and a tail? Vayth couldn't decipher if this was a werewolf or some other demonic form. Hm.

Either way, I've got company.

Wall. Wall. Stairs?-- No, wall.

K frowned, turning in a circle before disappearing from Vayth's line of sight as he entered the first floor of the building. It probably wasn't a good idea to approach with no weapon in hand, especially against something that clearly wasn't mortal-- but the hellhound hadn't experienced any real conflicts yet and whatever memories he had of his time as a full fledged hound had been forgotten.

And so the boy made his way to the far side of the room, tripping once over the unevenly cracked floor where patches of grass and weed struggled for life. The first floor was dark and damp, not exactly K's favourite as far as humidity goes. Still, it was better than being bright and damp.

Eventually, the hound came upon a set of rickety stairs leading up the second floor. For a moment, K wondered how the other got up there. Did he float? Because the stairs were so misshapen that there wasn't a single straight line in the thing. Most of it had crumbled away, leaving behind only what could be described as stepping ledges that rose steeply up.

It took K a few tries, but eventually he managed his way up to the top. The hound was definitely just going to jump off the top story to get down. There was no way he would ever survive coming back on these ledges.

Cocking his head to one side, the hound took a few curious steps closer to Vayth. From where he was, he could see the other's small wings. The horns didn't go unnoticed either-- K figured it was something like his ears and tails.. But not? He couldn't imagine wings doing much for balance.

If K had his way, he would probably sit there all day and study the incubus just like that. Altar hadn't gone as far to teach him manners or the art of initiating conversation. In truth, even if the keeper had, the hound wouldn't remember. In his mind, talking was kind of irrelevant.

Something was making it's way up. Probably the explorer. Sounds of footsteps followed the disappearance, Vayth peered downwards curiously. It seemed as if the person had disappeared in the building. Another humanoid appeared at the opposite end of the wall, staring at him for a moment. He was surprised to see the other there. Usually, people seemed to give up after the first step. Sometimes, Vayth wondered if he would one day take a misplaced step and fall onto the dangerous debris below. It was certainly possible.

.. Uh.. Okay. Ears. Tail. He had wings and horns. Clearly, there was something up with both of them. Unless the other had fake accessories.. but probably not. Unless he was doing an early halloween show. It didn't quite seem like the time for that.

'Aren't you.. gonna sit?" He asked uncertainly, light purple eyes assessing the other with a suspicious gaze. What was this man's purpose for being here?

"The better question is why you're here, I guess." Vayth stated, the statement was part question and partly.. not a question. How confusing.

K didn't answer for the longest time, red eyes unblinking as they studied the incubus. It seemed as if he was frozen, stuck to the door and turned to stone. The other's words hung heavy in the air.

It was when they had faded for a good while that the boy snapped back, nearly falling back down the stairs as he was abruptly slammed into reality. Tail whipping to one side, K jumped back further onto the second story, making sure he was on safe grounds before approaching the demon.

At length he sat down cross legged a respectable distance away. The lingering smell of cigarettes bothered his sensitive nose, but his curiosity made him stay.

"For a walk. What are you?"
Short and direct. If K's appearance spoke volumes about his blank canvas of a personality, his speech was an amplifier. The hellhound didn't elaborate his question, merely looking at Vayth expectantly as if the other had all the answers in the world and he was going to tell him.

Well, at least K had deemed the other to be in the not-food category.

Vayth had almost thought the other didn't know how to talk. Or that the other simply didn't want to answer his question. Salty air mingled with the cigarette smoke, the crumpled box was sticking out slightly from his pocket. The cigarette remains laid next to him, ashes scattering as a breeze flew at the high heights the pair was elevated at.

Fast reflexes. Apparently, that tail wasn't for show. It was actually a part of him. Vayth couldnt help but silently note, that was rather cool.

"What.. am I doing, you mean? Or what am I?" He paused, as if pondering which question to answer. He didn't answer immediately, thinking out his answer before replying to the other.

"Hanging out." He replied simply, returning a curious stare, tipping his head a little as if to take the appearance of the man better that way. As for the man's next question.. Well, Vayth couldnt exactly answer what he was. He could answer who he was. That was an answer at least.

"... I'm Vayth. You?" Both humanoids were eying each other, the dim light filtered through the walls casted a dim shadow over the area.

"K."
That was an odd response. It could have been taken anyway-- A short form of "okay" or maybe it was a name? Either way, the hellhound didn't dwell on the subject of names. He relied on scent and that was enough.

K shook his head at the first response, getting up onto all fours and crawling his way a little closer to the other. Reaching out a hand, the hound pointed to Vayth's wings, then moved that hand and pointed at the horns. He was careful not to touch them though, knowing how sensitive his own ears and tail were.

"Those. What are you? Not human."
The hound spoke in fragments, not bothering to think about his words and construct them coherently. He figured as long as he got his point across, there wasn't any need to make it fancy. In all honesty, he hated the elaborate way his keeper spoke sometimes-- it only served to confuse him when everything could be delivered in less than ten words.

It wasn't like Altar had many important things to say anyway.

Vayth honestly didn't know how to take that answer. The man didnt go into more detail.. so Vayth assumed that was his name? It had to be. Vayth didn't say anything the man had to "okay" for. He didn't think so, anyways. He watched as the other crawled closer, glancing down at the objects he was pointing at. His.. horn and wings? They certainly were strange.

"Hm. I wonder." It might have sounded like he was purposely withholding information from the other, the way the words were arranged, but Vayth honestly wasn't. "Not human's for sure." He chuckled, agreeing with the strange man. True, the man didn't speak normal language but it wasn't as if it was a problem. Speaking was a chore anyways. When his guardian had thought him how to speak the common english language, it had taken hours on end. Finding out that there were many languages in this world.. Well, he certainly didnt ask his guardian to teach him any more. One language was enough, thanks.

"You? You're not human either?" He gestured towards the other's ears and tail, sitting, turned towards K.

Left ear flicked in mild irritation, though K refrained from biting his lips. They were chapped enough as it is and his canines weren't exactly the dullest of the bunch. Either way, it was easy to tell he wasn't satisfied with the answer he received.

"Don't know."
With a half shrug, the boy dismissed Vayth's question, moving slightly to go around the other to get a better look of his wings.

"What are these for?" K nodded towards the wings again. They were too small to be of any use flying-- at least so he figured. But if that was the case, they weren't really positioned well enough to be for balance like his tail either.

Then there was the subject of Vayth's horns. The hellhound's gaze travelled up in slow indication. Too small to be of any use, again. They were curled too, not sharp or deadly like his teeth. The closest thing K could associate with the incubus was sheep, based on the elegant curl of horns. But that wouldn't make sense, because sheep equals food and this one does not equal food.

Maybe it was like a sheep God or something?

If Vayth had any idea what was running through K's mind, he would have gotten a few chuckles form the topic.

"As soon as I find out-- I'll be sure to tell you." Vayth said, his wings fluttering slightly. He didn't even know what these wings were for.. exactly. The only thing he could do was move them a little and hide them. It would attract far too much attention if he couldnt hide them. What the hell they were for.. Well, that was a question Vayth wanted to ask.

"If you don't know what you are, you expect me to know what I am? You're quite the smart one." Vayth did chuckle this time, assessing the other now that he was closer. The other made no attempt of hiding his obvious investigation of Vayth so why should Vayth? Vayth had nothing to hide by examining the other either.

.. A dog. That was his only conclusion. The mannerisms.. the ears.. Well, it almost seemed like he was a puppy. A large puppy. "You're not exactly the best guy at conversing, are you? Did you drop a bucket of manners on your way here or are you always this charmingly nosy?"
PostPosted: Wed Oct 28, 2009 4:47 am

"Okay."

K was vaguely aware he was being mocked, if even just slightly. Fortunately for Vayth, the hellhound didn't particularly feel like asserting any sort of dominance. Besides, he wasn't sure he could win. The other was still taller than him and even without weapons, he knew the other had a way of starting fire. The cigarette was enough indication.

Fire was not one of the things K liked.

"You looked like you knew."
The hellhound wrinkled his nose, brows furrowing as he met the incubus' gaze steadily. Though at the other's next words, the boy merely shrugged and whipped his tail to one side, pushing up onto all fours before standing up.

Brushing off dirt from his pants in a manner completely uncharacteristic of K so far, the hound walked over to the edge of the broken building, peering down as he slowly worked his mind into breaking down the other's question. It took him another couple of minutes to reply.

"Talking is too much. Useless. Altar does enough, never shuts up."
K frowned; aware that he was slower than everyone else, but that wasn't because he was mentally stunted. He just didn't like words. They weren't growls and whimpers-- things that could be immediately deciphered. They also weren't anything like body language, either. Not things that could be immediately seen and felt.

"You will tell me manners too? I have them. I don't steal your kill, I don't attack you for no reason, I don't take your area. But you don't mark, so I'm here."
If he had given the weird vibes before, K was definitely sending them through an amplifier then. It was a miracle the boy said all that with a completely serious air.

K found it annoying when people told him about manners and etiquettes-- those were two words he had come to hate in the past few days. As long as he didn't invade someone else's territory, didn't eat out of place, and didn't attack things for no reason, he didn't see the need to be any further trained. After all, these were natural born instinct to him and if he was going to learn anything, the hound figured it would be better strategies to survive, right?

Well, learning which spoon to use in which bowl and how to pleasantly start a conversation seemed pretty useless to him.

At length, K made his way back to Vayth and laid down on his stomach. While the other's words had irked him, he found he liked being in the incubus' company. It was the first time he had come in contact with someone that didn't just tell him to get out.

Did he mean vayth was smart? Well, Vayth could take that as a compliment. A pretty good one. He watched the other curiously, the other seemed to be taking his time replying. Well, they had all the time in the world. Or all the time today had to offer anyways.

"Hm. I suppose those are manners." From a primitive.. animal point of view, that seemed like perfect manners. The ears and tail made sense now. Glancing at the man's serious face, Vayth put a hand to his lips to stifle a chuckle. "Wait. I'll call those perfect manners actually. But society wont like it. I do suppose some girls might be attracted to your type." He said thoughtfully, standing up himself.

"Hey K. Since talking is useless, why dont we make our way down to the beach? You dont want to sit up on this wall and talk all the time right?"

He couldn't leap down like his companion so Vayth would have to take the long tedious way down.
PostPosted: Thu Oct 29, 2009 5:08 am

K frowned, cocking his head to one side. This time, it was harder to tell whether or not the other was laughing at him.

Although at the mention of going else where, the hound visibly perked up. He didn't understand the subject of girls. For K, it wasn't mating season and so he hadn't experienced any sort of need. That was technically all there was to his potential love life.

Scary indeed.

"What is that?"
He hadn't been to the beach before. Altar had neglected to take him anywhere but straight home the moment he had been born from the book. That was, after a rather lengthy time arguing with a certain demon-- K spent most of that time chewing up books of lesser value and watching the exchange.

As Vayth headed down, the hellhound joined him shortly. It hurt his knees to land, but at least K had the foresight to not try landing on all fours.

" 'What is that?' Dude. You gotta get out more." Vayth insisted, starting his descent down the stairs. His guardian always encouraged him to go out and find out things. Kicked him out actually. Sometimes he told Vayth what to do and sometimes he didn't. Vayth had to 'fend alone pretty often since his guardian was often at work.

He was outside when the hellhound had leaped to the ground. He looked up at the tall expanse of the wall, eyes widening slightly. God, the man could jump from high heights. Vayth had to wonder what his useless puny little wings were for, if he couldnt just fly down to the ground.

"See all that water ahead of us? As long as you have sand on the shoreline, I'd call it a beach. If you didn't have a sandy shoreline, that's probably better off labeled as an ocean. Beaches are for swimming." He told K, pointing and gesturing as he talked, walking ahead. When they reached a tree placed near the beach, Vayth started to strip himself of his shirt and vest, his shoes placed to the side. He placed is clothes on a branch for easy vision.

"C'mon K. Do you want to get your clothes wet? Take them off if you're going near the water." He gestured towards the ocean. "Or do you need me to take them off for you?" He asked, a wide grin spreading over his face.
