User Image It had been a while since he returned to his home, relishing in the humidity of the swamp, and the fish and frogs. It was dry out in the savannah, he didn't like it, but he returned imediately upon finding his own name.

He, secluded himself with the months that followed his return - he had left before Asali'jua, and how he was hiding away. He didn't wish to deal with it. The happenings of the pride were lost on him, similar to when he left, but now - now it was time to reappear into the pride as an established member.

A sigh crossed the males lips and he set to clean himself - he did so quickly before making his way back into the main part of the pride.

Kairu was poking around the main areas of the pride, he wasn't going to far, he knew if he did that he would be given a piece of his mother's mind. Things were different around the pride now days and it was a little scary and confusing for him. He didn't know why everyone was up in arms and walking on edge. He felt sad most of the time now though.

As Kairu was mucking in the mud puddle he had found, he noticed a large lion not to far from him. Kairu wondered if he should go an greet him, it wasn't a lion that he recognized but at the same time, he wanted to make new friends... he felt confused he wasn't sure what to do.

Abu gave a slight nod to the small lion - with death comes life after all, so said the spirits and the great circle - the sun in which they rarely saw. Abu took a calming breath as he walked closer. He'd missed so much! So much in his pilgrimage, in his time of mourning. His heart felt heavy with guilt for being away for so long - selfish.

"Hello, young one," Abu decided to call out.

Kairu felt a large smile move across his face. EXCELLENT he thought, the lion was willing to talk, to meet him, to be his friend. The little cub moved his feet quickly as he rushed towards the older lion.

"HI" he greeted in a chipped voice. He was very excited that he was going to make a new friend, he would tell his mom tonight she would be so proud of him.

"My name is Kairu!" she told the older lion, "it is very nice to meet you." Kairu was a very polite little lion, and he wanted to make a good first impression.

Kule shiften lightly on his paws, moist dirt shifting with his motions. "Nice to meet you as well, young Kairu," he said with a gentle voice. His mostly white teeth glinted lightly against the barest rays of sun that shone though the canopy.

"I'm Abu'kule-Biti. Kule if you will," he stated. He paused for a moment. "Or any other derivation of my name," he gave a small chuckle and sat upon the damp earth.

"What are you doing out here? And with no one to play with?" He asked in a teasing voice, but only just barely. He needed to get away from the lingering depression that fell about his spirits.

Cubs were always ones to lift a spirit - they didn't know much of the aching horrors of the world and he found himself not wanting them to know.

He thought for a small moment. He had never seen such a coloration on any of the adults he noticed as he grew. And this cub was getting older. Born while he was away? Likely. To a new member? Maybe. He gave a mental shrug, focusing back on the small cub before him.

Kairu frowned and looked down at his paws, "All my siblings are busy and I hate ot bother my mother." Kairu tried very hard to be a considerate little cub, but it wasn't always the easiest thing in the world to do, after all he was just a cub who had whims and desires that he had at a moments notice.

"I think I like Kule to call you." he told the adult, "I don't have any different versions of my name though, my mom tells me that someday I will have to go on a quest to find my name, maybe then I will find my true name. She never went on a naming quest though, her life before hear counted as her quest." the cub was rambolling off what he knew about the pride, it was all confusing to him, but he was trying his best to get a handle on it.

"Did you go on a naming quest or are you like my mother?" Kairu asked.

Kule smiled a bit. "I could always call you Kai," Kule said with a thoughtful look upon his face. He shook his head a bit, shaking the thoughts from his mind.

"Yes, your name quest. It'll come upon you quickly," Kule said with a nod. His brows knitted together. So, Kairu's mother was probably part of the recent group that came. He gave a small nod though. "A name is a special thing. Your parents name you something, but it's not the name that belongs to your spirit," he told the cub.

"The name you're given as a cub is just so we can keep you all apart," he said teasingly. "When you go on your quest though, you search your soul for your true name - the name given to you by the gods."

He gave a small nod. "I did go on a naming quest. It was an interesting experience..." And that's all he said upon the subject, though he knew he would answer if the cub asked and questions about it.

Ness
Kairu smiled he liked the thought having having his very own knickname. "I would like it a lot but only you should call me that." He chripped. Kairu not only liked the ideaof his own nickname but he liked the idea of it being a secret nickname even more. He also hoped that he and Kunle could be friends of sorts despite their age difference.

"Tell me more about the naming quest!" Kairu more or less demand. The young cub was very curious about this particular right of passage for any swampy cub. "How did you know it was time to go, how did you know your real name, how did you know it was time to come back home?" The questions poured quickly from the black and pink cub.

"Sure," Kule responded with a smile. The cub was adorable - he loved children. They made the world that much brighter, filled with so much innocence. Children didn't have to see the cruelty of the world until they were older.

This cub though, had to deal with the murders that plagued the pride while he was away. It made his heart ache in an unpleasant way that such an innocent spirit had to deal with the horrible facts of life so early on.

But cubs were resilient - they were amazing beings that could get through anything, even if they turned out bitter or angry. They would survive and live. "Well, the outlands are abnormally dry, and it's all open. Nary a tree in sight. It's most dried grass and stone. It was a new experience for sure," Kule chuckled with mirth.

"Everyone's experience and how they take that experience is different, though. Otherwise, we'd all have the same name, Kai."

Kairu listened intently as the older lion spoke, it seemed like he knew what he was talking abotu and Kairu wanted to know all he could before he headed out into the unknown world. In Kairu's mind it was best to be prepared for everything and the more he could learn about the outside world the better he would be prepared for it. He could ask his mother about what it was like but she never seemed to like talking about her life before the swamplands she now called home.

"If there is no trees, and just stone and dry grass how does one stay cool?" Kairu loved his swampy home as the trees and the mud puddles provided ample ways for the darkly colored lion to stay cool even on the hotest of days.

"It would be silly if we were all named the same thing, and very confusing indeed, I really do wonder what my true name is." the cub said most of this to himself but it was loud enough for the adult lion to hear.

"The grass in places is tall and there is the occasional Watering Hole you may come across. There are trees, but they are very few and far between," He amended. He spent a lot of his time cooling down in the shade of rocks and by the lakes that spread through the lands.

"I didn't spend much time in the trees, though. We have trees here, so it would be pointless to stick to the trees out there too, I thought," he laughed a little, mostly at himself. "It would be rather confusing, yes." He agreed with the cub.

"Your name is something you'll find in due time. Don't worry, you'll go on your pilgrimage soon enough, and you'll be back before you know it, though the trip will seem so much longer." His seemed so long when he was traveling. He'd gotten homesick, in fact, but made it back to the Swamp lands before his mane even grew in properly.

Kairu smiled her appreciated the adult lion being able to explain a little more to him about the pilgrimage he would go on, probably much sooner then he wanted to. Stretching the little cub looked up at the grown lion, so much wisdom must be in that head of his. "Wow I can't believe how much you know." Kairu whispered, he was in complete awe.

"I think maybe when I go I will want to stick to the tries a little bit, after all I think it would be safer in what I know for at least a little while." Kairu sat back wondering what adventures he may encounter, would be be able to fully prepare for them? The thoughts ran through his head at monsterous speeds.

Kairu looked up at the sky and wondered if perhaps he should be heading back towards his den his mother was the worring type, he didnt want to cut his time with the Kule short. Perhaps the lion would walk him home, but Kairu didn't want to ask.

Kule gave a short laugh. "Yes, that might be a good idea," he commented with some amusement. "Its a lot cooler under the shade of trees," he mentioned. Kule shifted a bit and watched the cub look up towards the canopy through to the sky. It was getting rather late, he felt. Perhaps he should shoo the cub off to his mother.

"Would you like for me to walk you to your den, Kai. It's getting rather late."

Kairu was amazed it was like Kule had read his mind. The black cub pup up and was eager to go, "Yes I would love that, the swamps are still a little scary to me at night." Kairu said a nervous laugh in his throat.

He turned and began to walk in the direction of his home, as he began to walk he began to think more and more about his mother and Kule, they were both adults maybe Kule could be the male that made his mother smile. Kairu always worried about his mother and her happiness speacial about how she would be when him and his siblings went for their names.

As they approached the den Kairu began to gallop "Thanks for the walk him Kule." Kairu shouted the little cub wanted to get home and tell his mom all about his friend that he had met and what a wonderful male he was, perhaps Kairu would even be able to set them up.

Kule walked slightly behind the cub, watching out for anything that may swoop down to scare them or attack. It was a bit hard to follow the dark cub, happy for his shocks of bright color that would help him stand out a bit.

"You're welcome, Kai," Kule said softly, letting the younger male run off towards the den. "Good Night," he called, and wander back towards his normal sleeping place. What a nice cub, his passing thought as he turned in for the night.
