Truth be told, Madoa Waya was a terrible tour guide. She had spent so much time focusing on trivial, unimportant things that she didn't really know a great deal about her homelands. She knew the basics but because she kept herself so busy and was generally harmless, it mainly went without notice or concern. However, it made her an interesting partner in exploration. Since she didn't know many of the details, a lot of it was new to her as well. She hummed cheerfully as she led the way for her and Sado, not seeming to pay much attention to the other lion until they were quite near to the mountains.
"Wow, see?" she said, looking to Sado, "They're reeeally big."
She stopped their walk and took a moment to just look around. Part of her started wondering about the mountains she'd mostly ignored. How easy were they to climb? What would you find if you did climb them? Were there any animals that lived just in the mountains?

It was odd following the stunning lioness, as she didn't seem to really pay attention to much. Perhaps she was just wondering what they were going to do, or perhaps just what lay ahead of them. The brown lion had no idea what they would be walking into, and he had no choice but to trust her. But for the smitten lion, really, it wasn't that hard to put all his trust into her. His mother would be embarassed of her foolish son, but she probably would never know.
He let his eyes wander in more ways than one, but mostly over the land that seemed so full of life. He could see some lions moving around here and there, but they were so far away it seemed foolish to ask about them. They probably wouldn't notice two other lions just wandering around, even if they had a destination.
Once they reached the mountains, he peered upwards, amazed that there was something more intimidating than Pride Rock.
"Wow," he said, looking upwards as it seemed they went up forever. He hoped that no one lived up that high; could you imagine if you slipped? Yeeesh.

"Do you think anything lives up there?" Maddie asked suddenly, realizing she was standing right beside somebody and that she didn't have to internalize all of her conversations, "Do you think we could climb up?"
She didn't stay stopped near the bottom much longer, she was intent on finding out if they could get far up the mountains. It wouldn't be pleasant to slip but that didn't worry her right then. She rarely thought through anything enough to think of the consequences, even when she recognized the danger. For once she was interested in the mountains and she had somebody here with her. What could go wrong? So she jogged to the base of the mountain and started looking for a path to climb up, wasting no time in leading the way.

"W-wait!" He loped after her, worried that she was going to dive straight into her death. It obviously wouldn't happen immediately, but if they really started to get up there? Yeah, the mountain wasn't a steep cliff, but he knew enough about heights that it'd get hairy reeeeal fast.
"Don't you think we should pause for a moment?" he begged. He wasn't really scared...well, was he? He was already on grounds that he might not necessarily be welcome in (remembering the story of his mother being attacked on the Firekin border before they were born), but to continue to be so brash might mean more than just a swift kick out.
He wasn't vry good at coming up with plans on the fly, though, so he nearly gave up as soon as he balked.
"Just a moment? Maybe if we took a little time to find a good path we could try to go up it...." he said with a mildly defeated look, knowing that he was folding for a pretty lady. Damn it.

Maddie stopped a couple steps up a rather unsteady looking part of the mountain. She turned and blinked at him. He hadn't really shouted at her, which was what it normally took to get her attention, but.. today was an unusual day for her anyway. She tilted her head at him, making note of the expression on his face and the tone of his voice. Was there something really wrong with what she was doing? She just wanted to know more.. she was looking back up the mountain and the path she was on when he offered a compromise of sorts. She backed herself up and looked to him with a smile.
"OK then," she agreed, "Let's see what we can find!" She looked around the base of the mountain for any obvious sign of a path. She had to be missing something, where she had been going looked perfectly fine to her.

Whew. He couldn't help but release a sigh of relief, pleased that he at least got her away from something that didn't settle in his stomache well. He bobbed his head to her, his own light brown eyes scanning the base of the mountain for something safer to go up. Hopefully she wouldn't want to go the whole way up.
With that thought, he glanced up. Gulp. Yeah, please don't let her get the idea to go to the top.
"Oh," he breathed, thinking that he found a fairly good trail. It was pounded in, though obviously from a deer of some sort, for the trail was quite skinny. Still, it should be trustworthy enough to not guide them off the edge of a cliff.
"I think I found something!"

While Sado looked in one direction, Maddie looked in the other. She wasn't nearly as careful about it as he was, walking around a little more and just about ready to reach up and test her weight on what almost looked like a path when Sado's voice stopped her. He'd found something! She smiled and put her foot back on the ground, turning and hopping over to see what he had found.
"Perfect!" she said brightly and jumped ahead again. She was eager to go along and he didn't seem quite so eager. It just seemed right that she should take the lead because of that, which was just fine with her. Her mind went over all the plants and animals that lived around on the ground, around the pride's lands. The mountains didn't look quite so lively but sometimes dirt didn't look it either.
"Let's see!" she murmured, moving slowly but surely as she tested the path and started heading upward.

It was always a bit of a concern whenever Maddie was gone for an extended period of time. Not that he was trying to discriminate against his whimsical daughter, but he admittedly had to keep a closer eye on her than he did on many of his offspring. She could sometimes be even more of a pawful than the new litter, which was probably not the best quality of hers.
That's just why he was here now, prowling the lands, after he'd spoken to Makonde. She'd not seen her sister, and if Maddie was not with her, that meant she'd wandered off somewhere. Not surprising, but it could be alarming.
Luckily enough, just as Maddie had begun to head up that trail, Nyota's bright eyes happened upon her form. A scowl formed on his maw immediately as he noticed the figure next to her - a figure he had never seen before. Deep down, he had to know it was undoubtedly simply Maddie's usual behavior and not a rogue's influence, but one can't stop an over protective father from passing judgment.
"Maddie!" he called out, his voice stern and loud, carrying out to her on purpose, "you come back down here right now." It wasn't cruel, but it was certainly a no-nonsense tone. Not that he really expected her to be upset by it, but a stern hand might make her react quicker. His paws carried him more quickly in that direction, tail twitching irritably, and eyes never once glancing away from the two.

Sado exhaled, feeling that the situation was a little bit better. At least they were going up a path that was a bit safer. He'd have to figure out something about coming down, but she seemed like quite the headstrong girl, determined to do what she wanted to do. It was almost...admirable? Perhaps. He hadn't always been like that, so it was mildly refreshing to see.
His thoughts were interrupted when he heard a voice. Dread filled his mind, and his stomache dropped. Oh s**t. Now he was in for it.
He turned to see a lion indeed older than him, looking quite displeased at the situation. Meekly, he stopped in his tracks, his head lowered just slightly, but ears still perked forward, attentive. There was no point in cowering now, as he had gotten himself into just enough trouble, for sure.
He glanced over at the lioness, wondering how she was reacting to their being caught.

Maddie was only a couple feet up when she heard a familiar voice- and a familiar tone. One that usually got her attention quite quickly, she had learned better than to ignore it. She stopped her climbing and looked sheepishly down towards her father as he came joggin up to them.
"Hey daddy," she greeted cheerfully, though she knew she was in trouble, "We were just looking at the mountains, I wanted to know what's up there." It was simple and it was clear. She explained her intentions and she didn't seem worried about it.. he couldn't really stay mad at that, right? Still, she made an effort to climb down some more. She started by backing up a couple steps and then trying to turn around, but there wasn't really enough room. With a yelp, she lost her footing and slid down the short distance she was off the ground, landing with a thump but still on her feet and never losing her smile.

Being that the male had simply stopped and turned to his attention, without the smallest indication of aggressiveness, for the moment he ignored him in favor of securing his daughter's safety. Given that this was Maddie, however, it appeared that anything that could be difficult would be difficult. Just as she had noticed him and begun to climb down, she slipped, and sent his heart skipping beats until she landed back on the ground. He took a few impulsive steps forward towards her, stopping next to her, a deep frown on his face.
"Maddie, what have I told you about doing reckless things?" Not that it mattered, she didn't seem to have a gauge for what was reckless and what wasn't. He took a deep breath to calm himself, and dissolve his anger, before speaking to her again. "There's nothing up in the mountains except dirt and rocks, which are dangerous and unstable, alright? Next time you want to go explore, will you at least take Makonde with you?" He'd have to talk to his other daughter about keeping a better eye on her sister, or one day she was going to be the death of him. He knew it.
Then, as if he'd suddenly remembered it wasn't simply the two of them standing there, he turned sharply to look at the male he'd found in the company of his daughter. "Did you think it was a good idea to let her go exploring up there, boy?" It probably wasn't fair to be taking his anger and frustration out on the younger male, but he expected others to be responsible for Maddie because she certainly couldn't be responsible for herself.

It was even more worse than he had first thought. After hearing what the gorgeous lioness said - Maddie - the fact that it had to be her father to find them only made the young lion panic. He knew how his own father was protective of his sisters when they were young. He wouldn't doubt the fact that he probably still was. But....his heart sank just thinking about it. The game was up, and he'd probably get the boot out.
He looked over at the red-marked beauty, wondering how this was going to go, wondering if he could have done something different.
Feeling defeated, he faced the green-brown 'foe' before him. "I apologize," he began. "I had never seen mountains like this before, and asked if she would show me. It seems our cubbish curiosity had escaped all thought of realization of what we were getting ourselves into."
Hopefully...he'd still have his head after saying that.

"Uhhhhhhh," she hummed as she thought about the answer to his question, "Don't- don't do them?" She couldn't help herself and shot a smile towards Sado when she answered, not terribly worried about being caught. She did strange things all the time, she got plenty of talks about some of the more reckless stuff but she still got away with it. Her attention was back on her father when he said there was nothing except dirt and rocks, first looking disappointed and then looking between angry and indifferent. It was no fun being told what was there, it was more fun seeing it yourself.
Ah well, their fun had been ruined so being told was better than never knowing.
"I guess," she agreed with a sigh when asked to take Makonde with her, being unusually attentive to the whole conversation that she was having. Maddie even turned to look at Sado as Nyota turned his attention to the stranger, and smiled at him when he offered an apology and an explanation. She nodded, smiling.

He snorted slightly at the apology the other offered, eyes narrowing a fraction. It was a good sign, however, that he hadn't ordered Maddie to follow him and simply left the male standing there. He was listening.
"Cubbish, indeed," he repeated after the male, although he did seem a little calmed by the apology. If the male had enough sense to freely admit that he was wrong, there may be something to him. He'd have liked to say that if Maddie thought he was alright, he was, but he wasn't sure how far he could trust Maddie's judgment. She might be just as likely to bring home a psychopath as she was a good lion. He stared at the male for a moment longer, tail flicking behind him, before turning his attention squarely upon his daughter.
"That's right, Maddie, I told you not to do reckless thing. I've also asked you time and time again not to wander off without anyone else." He sighed, and for a moment, seemed simply more tired than he did anything else. "The mountains are dangerous and if you had gone up there, you could have killed not just yourself, but this oblivious stranger as well." He knew what he said was probably just going to go in one ear and out the other, but one can't blame a father for trying.
He turned completely to face the male then, letting out a deep sigh. "I suppose you know, by this point, that you're within the Ela'Wadiyi lands," then, with a second glance at Maddie, he ammended, "or at least within pride lands." He wasn't sure how much his daughter had really divulged. "I'd like to know who you are and why you're here, then perhaps we'll talk about going to visit Tsi."

Sado wasn't really quite certain exactly what was going on here. He knew that there were always things between family members one would never know, but he almost felt like there was something beyond that. Glancing over at Maddie, though, it was easy to determine that it was something he would lay quiet about. Everyone had their secrets, and he was no exception.
Sado offered a silent nod to the reigning adult before him, knowing when to defer to a senior. He was receiving the verbal lashing he deserved, though he knew it was much lighter off than probably what he was due for. It seemed that Maddie was getting more of it, but he didn't quite understand why. He was the male in the situation, even if a stranger, and so should probably recieve more of the punishment than a lady. These lands must run differently than at least how his parents had raised him.
Taking note of this, he offered a slight bow to the green and brown male. It was his turn, now.
"My name is Sado. I've wandered over here from the Pridelands, a pride that is only a short day or two's walk from here. I left home curious to see the outside world, and the first intriguing thing I saw was her. The tattoos were so interesting, and so different, I wanted to find out more about them." He paused, clearing his throat for a moment before continuing again. "I had suggested seeing the mountains, sir. I didn't anticipate the urge that she would have to climb them, and perhaps should have been a little more firm on the saftey of your daughter. I apologize."
