You have probibly all heard the thing about playing stairway to heaven backwards and getting satinic mesages in it. Well i just did and it's basicly like another song altogether, which is indeed satinic. But this post isent about the validity of this fact, or weather they did it on purpose, or if satin was using them as pawns, ect. What i want to know is how should I treat this new found information? I know your first thought may be "NEVER LISTEN TO IT AGAIN!!! IT WILL DESTROY YOUR SOUL!!!!". But when I heard it backwards, if anything it made me more sure of my commitment to God. All I could think was how angry I was that satan takes such beautiful things, such as this song normally, and twist it like that. Because I do love that song. And it reminds me of what he's done/doing with Christanity, takeing something wonderful and trying to poison it. Is there something here that that I'm missing that will make me think otherwise? Or should I listen to this song for the good in it, sort of telling satan that this is one thing that I wont allow him to ruin?

Hmmm... well, this is certainly an interesting dilema. I've heard the rumors about "Stairway to Heaven," but I've never taken the time to see if they were true; interesting that the are. You're right, it's terribly disturbing that Satan would do something to twist such a beautiful song, but I am at a loss as to what you should do, how you should view it from this time on. I'm interested to hear the opinions of the other guild members, as well.

I usually stop listening to the music. Then again I have never really liked a song that turned out to be anti-christian, usually when I hear something like that I detest it instantly. And for it to be blasphemous when played backward... that is unfortunate for you likeing it at first, if it were me I'd still stop listening to it. I've even slowed down on listening to secular music, most of what I listen to is techno, soundtracks, or christian music.

One of the artists in the band was deeply involved in the teaching of alastair Crowley, the founder of modern satanism. (he was also a self-professed warlock and so on) there was an interesting video I was shown at one point, and it went over a lot of satanic symbols and things like that in the media but doubtless-- some of those aren't intentionally put there and we could be reading too much into it
Another thing is that when you play it backwards, it really depends on the speed you play it backwards at...

I've heard that rumor. I heard part of the track, but not backwards. Did you know they said that if you play the Spongebob theme song backwards it's a satanic song?

firstly, i took the song on my computer and just flipped it on sound recorder. i didnt change the speed at all. secondly, the lyrics are as follows:
Plaaaay backwards, Hear why its sung here, oppositioner.. Allll on track, all arriving They all sing, and they are one. Shall I loathe you now, parishoner? Oh hear Him, Christian within me. It stirs my sin; the river, Oh, she swells with our lousiness. All my life will end for him? We're all out of signs, I know I'm sorta shocked To hear The Lord, My God now will save me! Oh I will n'er be saved, Because I live with Satan.. One wish today; That you'll all pray for Three who will make it here late. Pray now and you'll see.. The 'Lord' turned me on, But, oh, I was the shaggy fool.. Clothed in agony, Lost at a height. There's no escaping it, Nor his woes.. So here's to my Sweet Satan. The other's little path Would make me sad, Whose power is faith. He'll give those with him 666. And all the evil fools, they know he made us suffer sadly. Ohohohoh... "Family won't get loose, They're offered me." Always soothes the worker. Always will be as we know now "I see ruins," said he, "the world they offered me? Who wished the Lord's fall?" If we lose feather, Say you'll save me!
And no wimps can bend the rules.. And no wimps can do..
Hunt next to the shore, 'Cause they see all from there, See here's the news, Who walks with mute grief! Perhaps no-one found thee... "Heavy, lift me out," Spake the Reve, "Someday, failed, we'll lose one line-up, They've gotta leave forsaken."
And no wimps can do.. And no wimps can do...
He, who say the lords Thoth have our laws, Maat must be superb. Mass is ended.. Over there, He who should learn thee. Any moot that serves by my sworn music, I wish it with snow be shushed, All for my mass's sake. Hear why its sung, here, oppositioner, Ohh.. He who should show May make his show worthy, To look, for us, odd.. sickly, There's one chance - take his show. Hold thy head, Hear why its sung here. oppositioner. Who owns this earth built below? Oh sweet Israel...
This is far to much to be missheard, and alot of it is very very clear. if you wish to hear it yourself, you can flip it on your computer or email me and i'l send you a copy.

I'm not calling you a liar...but I highly doubt that an entire song with coherent lyrics can be twisted backward to create another complete set of coherent lyrics. I'm sure it's almost completely impossible.

I saw a documentary on satanic music, and this song came up. Not only does it have a backwards song, but the song played forward itself also has satanic meaning. When it talks about the piper, it refers to the story of the piper that led the mice into a river or something and killed the mice. That piper in the song is satan. basically, the song is saying follow Satan into hell. But thats just the documentary and my point of view from the song played forward.
Anyway, if I were you, I would stop listening to the song.

you could pray, and see what God thinks. If any of this makes you afraid to play the song because of what it might do, that's probably not good. God totally triumphs over evil; but at the same time, maybe you should make the choice not to play it because you just don't want to open yourself up to the possibilty. if you don't need to play it backwards, what's the point?

Well...I played it backwards a while back and I didn't hear anything coherant (of course, this was an mp3 of Led Zep and Pink Floyd singing it at the same time. It's the only one I had on the computer right then.). For sure not the song you got from it lol. I've always loved the song. The message I always got from just the chorus was a warning against avarice.
I love Led Zeppelin. Gotta say, I like their song "Kashmir" better. Most of what I listen to is secular music though. So, I might not be the best one to comment on the song.
But! For sure, if it's something that you're sure you heard and feel weird or unsure about it at all, you should pray about it. Maybe ask your preacher? Or someone who's very knowledgable about the bible and Christianity?

I never believed in that backwards message stuff... As a matter of fact Mindless self indulgence made a song mocking people for thinking that kind of stuff. Even thou their stuff is hard to listen to due to all the cursing...
There was a beetles song that did the same thing... and one that told you to borrow you dads 45 and kill yourself. Thos guys may have been stoners but they weren't satanists.
You have to think about the people you are talking about... like do you really think Ozzy is capable of organizing the entire worlds satanic organizations? (something my grandmother was told by a friend) I would have to laugh at that rumor... and I did. Most of the singers from that era are so messed up today on drugs they did when they were 20 that they can't even talk. Much less start a cult.
I used to think on this alot... And I am always listening to songs to find the inner meaning. I have prayed and meditated for a little bit as well. I think that the devil no longer has to hide. In this day and age if a person does claim to be satanic MTV would cover them like ugly on an ape and kids everywhere would want to be just like em.

If he did manage to start up even one, they'd never be able to get anything done. They wouldn't be able to agree on just what he'd said xd "Nah, man...he said we should torch something..." "No. He said something about mulch. I distinctly heard the word mulch." But yeah, he doesn't have to hide anymore =/
